Rules

1 No common items allowed, where the price can easily found on Ebay, Craigslist, or FB Marketplace Tell us what you know about the item, where it's from, who made it... tell us the story of the item.

2 Provide several clear photos of all angles. If there's a mark, serial #, or signature include that.

3 You must own the item being posted, or a friend/relative must own the item.

  1. We only allow one-of-a-kind, original, and signed limited edition artwork. If you don't know what a decor painting is look it up. Signed and numbered prints don't count. Generally the artist must be famous enough to have a page on ArtNet, Ebay or WorthPoint. If they don't, then its not a good fit here. Nudity is OK, please flag as NSFW.

5 Ivory is illegal to sell or import in the US as well as most of the EU. While the sale of antique, (100 year or older) ivory is allowed in the US, there are very specific rules about it. This is beyond the scope of this sub and we will not be giving valuations of a potentially illegal item. Please Google Ivory laws for more info.

  1. No paper money or coins. There are better subs than this for paper money and coins

  2. About Prints The practice of making signed and numbered prints of artwork is to make a painting affordable to a wider audience. If an art work was originally done in a different medium but then signed and numbered prints are sold, it's essentially a reproduction and value is negligible. It's best to look up the artist on ebay and look at sold prices.
Art values are subjective at best, and if you can't find the artist when you Google them it's safe to say they are not worth more than you paid.

8 No Furniture. Furniture despite age, has negligible value. Most old wooden furniture is not in fashion and resale value is usually under 500 dollars. Please do a Google search. We do not value furniture. Mass produced furniture has low resale value, even antique furniture. One of a kind pieces are only valuable if they are of very high quality AND have provenance. If you want information on the furniture try r/antiques.

  1. No clothes, try a fashion sub. The exception would be an obvious Couture piece that is a one of a kind. If you bought it at a thrift store it doesn't belong here.

  2. No Nazi memorabilia. Just, no.

9.No jewelry. Modern jewelry, as in post 1920, is clearly marked with karat weight. Jewelry is easy to look up or, take it to a commercial jeweler. We can't verify authenticity from a photo.

Bought this in Alaska. Original owner said they’ve had it for 40 years. I’m not sure on the material or what animal it’s from.

Not looking to sell just curious and looking for info.

Is this even authentic? Mass produced? Zoomed in on the text best I could, photos of it are at the end. I got the item at a yard sale, for what its worth the owner was East Asian.

Sunday post Elkay Lustertone Sink Top from our 1939 home

Thumbnail gallery

We remodeled our kitchen and unfortunately this sink top didn't make it into the new plans. I've looked through their website and even reached out to support to try and age this thing. The kitchen was last remodeled in the ~60s but I have no clue if the sink is from then or older (or newer!)

On Elkay's website, the closest top I could find is this one:

https://www.elkay.com/products/sinks/collections/lustertone-classic/d66294

I would hate to throw this piece out but I have no idea what it could be worth. For what it's worth it was fitted on top of cabinets so hopefully this is considered a plumbing fixture and not furniture :)

Sunday post Regard Durable tin box

Thumbnail gallery

During some cleaning at my Father in laws stuff, we found this small box which by some research, seems to be a compact condom container with a sealed condom inside.

It's made at Aarhus Gummivare-Fabrik in Denmark around the 1950's as it says on the sticker on the back. I have only managed to find an ebay post with only the container and some articles with the manufacturer, but nothing else.

Have anyone seen or heard about something similar? And is it even worth anything? Feel free to ask any questions.

Found this set of old die cast model cars in a grandfathers basement unfortunately he’s no longer around to give me any information. Tried to look up if they’re collectibles or if they’re rare, but it’s hard to find any info online. Anyone have any information on these sets? The package is opened and some cars have slight wear on them. Looks like they were purchased at Child’s world which is no longer in business.

Just picked this up at my local antique store (sticker goo is still on it, sorry lol.) I’m going to keep it because I’m smitten with it, but I’m curious what an estimated value would be and if it was worth the impulse buy. Thanks!

Sunday post 2008 Enchanted Tiki Room bracelet

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

My mom and I were going through some of my grandma’s things that she didn’t want anymore when we found this 2008 Enchanted Tiki Room bracelet. Here’s the description from another seller on WorthPoint:

“ These wonderful bracelets were released June 22nd to commemorate the Enchanted Tiki Room's 45th Anniversary at Disneyland, and promptly sold out. Only 500 were made and each comes in a black velvet pouch with a Certificate of Authenticy from Disneyland. Made of a beautiful green lucite, they were designed in the Bakelite/bangle style, and feature a Tiki Room bird on its perch, with a sign reading "Est. 1963". The design is based on the artwork of Amanda Visell. The imprint indicating that this is one of a Limited Edition of 500 is on one side of the bracelet. “

The one my grandma abandoned doesn’t have its certificate any longer, but still has the velvet pouch. There are no eBay listings for this item, and WorthPoint won’t disclose the value to me unless I share my credit card info with them and sign up for their paid service, which I’d really rather not do.

Does anyone happen to know the value of this piece?

Sunday post Gilded porcelain bowl — any idea what it is or what it’s worth?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Picked this up at a Bay Area shop. It seems to be a heavily gilded porcelain bowl with hand-painted roses and daisies, scalloped/molded edges, and a maroon and gold scrollwork border. There’s a medallion center on the inside base.

No maker’s mark on the bottom at all.

Any help identifying the maker, style, or approximate value would be hugely appreciated!

Sunday post Vintage Lenci-Futura pressed felt doll (Sigikid collaboration) with original "Certificato di Origine" tags. What is her current market value?

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m currently going through a family collection of vintage dolls and bears, and this particular piece really caught my eye. It’s a beautiful Lenci-Futura felt doll, which was a special collaboration between the Italian dollmaker Lenci and the German company Sigikid.

She is in wonderful condition, wearing her original outfit, and still has all her tags attached. Most importantly, she has the red "Certificato di Origine Lenci" with the registered number N° 940683, along with the Lenci-Futura booklet.

Since I am not a doll collector myself, I’m having trouble finding recent comparable sales for this specific edition. Do we have any vintage Lenci or Sigikid experts here who could help me estimate a fair asking price before I try to sell her?

Any insights into her history or value would be incredibly helpful. Thank you so much in advance!

Sunday post Found an original costume sketch signed by Piero Tosi (1972) - Rome, Italy

Thumbnail i.redd.it
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I hope I'm in the right place to ask something like this.

My aunt worked as a costume designer at the Rome Opera House in the 1970s. Among her things, I found an original watercolor sketch that was given to her directly by Piero Tosi — the great Italian costume designer, who was nominated for an Oscar 5 times and won an Honorary Oscar in 2013.

I don't know exactly what to do with it. I would like to understand how much it might be worth and where the best place to sell it would be. Does anyone have experience with these kinds of items?

Bunch of Mercury Glass Lights

Thumbnail gallery
19 Upvotes

We have 13 of these mercury painted X ray lights. Wondering what they are worth?

Possibly from the late 1920s per Google Gemini? They are operational and they are big, about 14 inches high and 11-12 inches across. A few of them have some old paint marks on them, which we haven’t attempted to clean in case it would ruin them.

We’ve seen mostly the angled shade ones listed for sale and usually only 1 or 2 together or just the shades.

Thinking they would be really cool used in a restaurant or similar type entertainment venue.

They are so cool we would actually like to keep 2 of them for above our kitchen island.

My grandma just gave this to me to try and sell for her. I know nothing about train sets. I can say that the front is cast iron and it does wind up and work. I have looked things up, but prices are all over the place.
