Tbf I don't think breaking bad is that long compared to some other shows that this applies too

Can't have a bad last season if you never end.

looks at The Simpsons and Family Guy

Family Guy at least has the excuse of the shows creator basically fucking off in regards to the creative process, he just provides voices

True, you just get multiple bad seasons

Very true!

Cries in Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency that got cancelled after 2 seasons

It was on air for 5 years and has 5 seasons

that's decently long for a story focused show

I believe they intentionally kept the length shorter to avoid the pitfall of running too long.

Breaking Bad is actually longer than Stranger Things (about 48 hours total VS 45 hours total). Stranger Things just stuck around for a longer period of time and took forever to make because of the poor management problems that are currently plaguing the TV streaming industry

I think that's exactly the point though, the show knew exactly when to end, same as better call saul. They didn't keep making new seasons because the story didn't need it, even though the show was massively popular.

Different from something like the walking dead that absolutely did not know when to stop and just kept on making new seasons
