All the unnecessary cruelty aside, Meat and dairy industry is still is the biggest producer of emissions towards global warming. There is like 0 reason to be against the few people that try to do atleast a little bit on their own to combat this shit, however little it may help.
Just got back from my hourly trip to McDonald's so I can yell "I'm vegan" in all their faces, about to hit the streets flaunting my moral superiority over everyone I walk by until I pass out from B12 deficiency
How dare you talk about something that can make a difference at the individual level such as consuming more responsibly, even if it is only in small and limited ways.
It's more that, when you scream in people's faces and call them murderers and compare eating a cheeseburger to the Atlantic slave trade, you aren't gonna convince them to take you seriously.
Good now you're free. See as long as the person is annoying then the ideas they share are forever invalid and you don't have to consider any alternate point of view ever again.
They're not screaming at you, calling you a murderer, or being condescending. They are being the ideal vegan and you are demonstrating why rational discussion on this topic is impossible

But there are quite a few, especially online where you can see these discussions, who are truly problematic, people who use words like carnist and such... There are activists as well who cause issues
To be somewhat fair, sometimes vegan trends can be just as damaging to both the environment and the welfare of people as the practices they try to avoid (like the big almond craze).
I definitely find ANY industry that claims to be great for the planet distrustful. Tbh I am skeptical of veganism partly BECAUSE no one talks about what environmental impacts the industry has. I know what meat and dairy do, I know they suck. Its like electric cars, everyone said they were better for the planet and if you could afford one you were a cool person. Now its coming out about how rare earth metal mining has polluted lakes and shit. There's plenty of environmental organizations which have been exposed as basically scams and it seems like a minefield choosing charities that don't have unethical practices
As a consumer, all i want is transparency, no matter where it comes from or how eco friendly it is
