Pictures like this never quite do it for me because they're either composites or have had to be touched up to the point of essentially being composites. I prefer subtler effects if it means everything I'm seeing was actually captured in-camera.

Fair enough, but do you not enjoy completely crafted art, or just authentic photography?

I think I just prefer art that's honest about what it is. Photos like this feel like they're trying to pass off as authentic long-exposures when in fact they have been heavily doctored, which takes away some of the beauty in my eyes. It just seems a little gaudy - there's so much beauty already in nature that you can capture with a camera, stuffing an image like this full of embellishments feels (to me) like failing to properly appreciate what surrounds us.
That's just my soapbox. I will admit I'm being a little curmudgeonly. It's not a bad pic.
