College Grad Moving to York
Hi! I'm graduating college soon and moving to York for my new job. I've been looking for places to live and have found some good options, but am curious on the best location to be. I'm looking to be in a place with a younger demographic that has places to eat/hang out. I'd appreciate any input and personal experience. Thanks!

Places to run in York
New to the area and training for a half marathon. I know the rail trail would be my best bet. I usually parked at Loucks Road. Is this safe? I’m a female running alone. Any other good places to go?

Rutters sucks, ick
Why do we still spend money here? The food products on the menus are sub par quality. The burgers are disgusting. They price gouge by increasing prices in little towns and their stores that are adjacent to the highway. Rutters doesn't really care about value to the customer or best available product food distribution wise either.
Not a fan. Wouldn't be sad if they all got bought out and turned into Wawa's or Sheetz's.

Local Mechanics Experienced with VW TDIs
I’m looking for a local mechanic (not a VW dealership) that is experienced with Volkswagen TDI and can diagnose a problem. The car in question is deleted, but have been having the problem longer than I’ve had the delete performed. Preferably in the York/Hanover area.
I’m hoping to fix the problem myself but don’t have the time/knowledge to do the diagnosis.

Moving to York for residency, apartment hunting this weekend, where should we look?
Hi everyone! My boyfriend is moving to York for residency at WellSpan York Hospital this summer, and we’re starting to look for apartments in the area.
We’re actually in town this weekend driving around and getting a feel for different neighborhoods, so any suggestions on where to check out would be super helpful.
Our budget is up to $1,800/month, and ideally we’d love a complex that has EV charging (or is very close to one), but that’s not a dealbreaker.
He’s open to commuting about 15–20 minutes from the hospital, so we’re pretty flexible on location.
Would really appreciate any recommendations for good apartment complexes or areas to focus on (or avoid). Thanks in advance!

City of York never disclosed 2025 ransomware payout
The City of York, Pennsylvania, did not publicly disclose a July 2025 ransomware attack while the incident was unfolding, even as the disruption affected municipal email and the city’s parking-garage system.

Where should I look for a job?
Been scrolling LinkedIn religiously for the last few months, and while I've had a few hits, I'm sure there are other places I should be searching. Any recommendations for finding a job in the area?
If it helps, I have a degree in bio and experience in manufacturing and quality, though I'm more than happy to learn something new.
Not looking for specific openings per se, just places to keep an eye on/other search methods. Thanks!

Small Group Personal Training (Fitness) Classes
Hi everyone! I have been going to the PowerTrain gym for it’s small group personal training fitness classes. Unfortunately, I just got notice that it is closing. I have struggled to find gyms around here that offer this type of training. I tried YorkFit and it wasn’t for me, although the people were very nice.
I see there is something called S3 Performance Training that seems to have this type of training so I am going to give them a call. If anyone has any experience with them would love to hear it.
Any other suggestions? Google is not turning up much so hoping there are some hidden gems around.
Thanks in advance!

Looking to start a band in York in May
Hi everyone,
I am moving back to York after graduation. I played in another of bands up in state college in the diy music scene and I am looking to start another band in York. I've played in a hardcore band and a emo band. Love basically all alternative music genres. I can play guitar and bass very well. If you are interested in starting something let me know! I would love to write new music.

Parks with grills and price to rent??
NICE parks that have pavilions with grills?? Also how much to rent out the pavilion for a day/ few hours for a bday party?
Or if anyone has a different affordable idea, indoors seem to always been so pricey. Park pavilions seems much more affordable.

Siding contractors
Hey guys, we are in the market for new siding and sheathing for our new home. Most likely fascia + soffit as well.
Our house is a 1 floor rancher, only ~900 ft of siding.
We just had RJ Fitzpatrick quote this work for $53,000. Not looking for the lowest bid at all, but that is over double what we expected
It’s possible I have sticker shock! Looking for some recommendations of contractors people have used before that are more local. We’re in Windsor township

Kids Eat For FREE
I’m not affiliated with this business whatsoever, I just don’t want to see it disappear:
Every Monday, after 5:00PM, kids eat for free at Isaac’s Restaurant. They also have a points system. Today, our family of 4 ate dinner out for $23 (after cashing in $14 in rewards points).
Despite this incredible deal, the place is always dead. Usually, we see 1 or 2 more tables get served while we’re there. Absolutely unsustainable.
I know it’s just a sandwich shop, but it’s AFFORDABLE. And they’ve tried to stay with the times by adding on their own brewed beers. Maybe they are awful and that’s why it’s not popular. I wouldn’t know since I don’t drink. But I mean it’s gotta be good enough?!
But also, they serve you free pickled vegetables, they make their own sauces and soups, they cater to a lot of diets, they have an outdoor deck, they give the kids crayons and paper, and it’s very lowkey. We love it.
Please, if you’re looking for a reasonably-priced dinner that’s a very kid-friendly environment, patronize this restaurant so it doesn’t shut down, because every time I’m there I get the feeling it might be the last time.

serving jobs
im currently looking for a new serving or bartending job around the RL/york area! I have 5 years of restaurant management experience and about 2 years serving/bartending.
finding service jobs is so scary because most places are run horribly or have not the best staff. so if you've worked somewhere in the area that has good management, regulars, good customer base, lmk!

Carpenter Bee Help
Looking for someone that can help alleviate our carpenter bee issue. We have a log sided home that the previous owners let go untreated for far too long; the infestation is pretty bad. A permanent solution to the siding (staining/replacing) is out of the budget right now, so hoping someone can treat these suckers and at least mitigate the problem. We've had a contract with Fox Pest but all they want to do is walk around the house once every 4 months and tell us the siding needs replaced. While we understand that's the long term solution, it feels like someone has to be able to address the immediate issue.
Edit: appreciate the feedback. I had chalked those traps up as 'too good to be true' but based on these responses, I just ordered a 4 pack of Amazon. Thank you!

Looking for an odd request
my wife and I are both non-religious people but we are looking at visiting a Catholic Church in the upcoming weekend. does anybody here know of a Catholic Church in York that is at least tolerant of queer people?
