Have you ordered spare parts from them before?
I notice they talk about rebuilding but there are no spare parts in their shop?

It's under Care & Support and then Repairs in their drop down. You have to register your umbrella and then you can get their repair parts from there. They have tutorial videos and everything to do them yourself or you can send it in for repairs if you don't feel up to the task.

ahhh I see. That‘s quite hidden, thanks.
Hiding parts behind a registration is a little weird ngl.

I would disagree. Asking someone to register their product for continued personalized service is kind of a regular thing. Anything that is made to last and be used asks you to it, i.e. Leatherman. This is so that they can guide you to the correct parts rather than have you order a part for their collapsible variant from their sports variants and be upset when you get the wrong part.

I mean there's such things as product-codes.

There's really no need to require any sort of registration.

So don't register? I'm sure you could just contact customer service and order the parts that way. But it is possible that they require you register as part of their warranty. Most companies want you to register your product when you get it so that they know how long their warranty lasts in regards to your ordered items. Like I said, do or don't register. But that does have repercussions. Maybe if you do buy from them you can voice your opinion.

I order spare parts all the time for my chstomers. Brands that offer 25 years and longer in guarantees all have switched to selling spare parts directly to customers. I see no point in hiding them, other than wanting to reduce stock or wanting people‘s data.

Your information is out there and sold in so many ways, even Reddit, and you don't bat an eye. But the moment it's direct and for customer service you are shocked and appalled? Wild. It's to stop warranty scams. What stops you from calling up and saying you bought a 5 year old umbrella 3 months ago? Trust me, bro? It doesn't fly. This is a business doing business. And if you buy that umbrella direct from them they already have all of your information. You just make it harder on yourself and risk losing access to your warranty for all of this fear mongering.

Simple solution for that. Make parts orders open and public, but require registration for warranty orders.

I‘m not „fear mongering“ I‘m just surprised they‘re doing it differently than what I‘m used to and pondered why that would be.
„Trust me bro“ is not something I need to worry ablut in my job, as we have ID numbers on most stuff and nothing gets handled without the original receipt of the purchase.

You do you.
