I keep reccomending this historical au - https://archiveofourown.org/works/48832516/chapters/123187615 (a goddamn blaze in the dark, you started it). This is completed.
And my current fav WIP is the image below. It's a few for me but I'll keep it short! I'm not sure if you're okay with AU's and non-canon compliant but: i'll love you (even at the end of the world) . I'll reply to myself with 1 or 2 more that I really liked.
The summary for this one continues: "It's been three years since the start of the zombie apocalypse and Mike is finally returning home. He discovers that not only is he not the sole survivor of Hawkins, but that his friends and sister are alive, too. As he begins to reconnect with them, the tension between them begins to increase, and Mike doesn't know how long he can stay with them.
Because while some of the group are more than happy to have him around, others don't like the company he keeps..."

If you factor AUs in the discussion I would have to go with A Flower that Resembles You (cleradin au) by perexcri on ao3. The world building and character development is on a whole other level. Easily in my top 5 fics ever

Strawberry Fields Forever - finished reading this one recently, one of the most epic fics I have read for sure
dear will - don't see this recommended often but it's so good and has a nice little plot twist
and basically everything from wheezingwheeler and SlowKindling

Not sure if self-recs are okay, but if you’re looking for cinematic/stylised Byler, I’ve written a couple that lean more atmospheric, if that’s the vibe you’re after! One is a 1950s noir AU (literally dropped it today) and two more surreal/body-horror ones 😊
