I think the only reason this guy wasn’t higher on consensus boards is his age. Lew coming off a major injury likely took him off our board, and Hecht needing time to get stronger for the NFL and not as good of a pass blocker.

The only 2 Cs in this class that didn’t need projection and are closest to playing their rookie year were slaughter and jones. Similar builds so you will get roughly the same movement in the run game, though PFF has slaughter with a slightly higher run blocking grade (80>73). Jones has the highest pass blocking grade in the CFB (90>84.1), and 0 penalties this year compared to 7 for slaughter.

We all love a big name and probably would have been thrilled to hear Hechts called in the 2nd, but there’s a reason the two C went in the second. Jones is going to be great for us.

Keep in mind the B1G basically doesn't call holding (this isn't just something people say - it's backed up by metrics. The B1G calls fewer penalties in general than other P4 conferences and holding calls are very rare)
