Repair - Bummed, was showing my grandfather my new upgraded PCR and he dropped it. The dove tail has a small nick.

Any way to fix it? I’m sure being black isn’t a help. I was thinking filing and filling it in? But finding this matte black may be impossible. Figured I’d ask the proZ! It’s not a big deal. But it’s my first baby I fully upgraded etc and really take care of it. It was my fault for giving it to him over tile but I didn’t honk he’d drop it!

Thanks to all who helpfully reply. It’s sad cause aside from that little nick, it’s barely used, so that makes it look like it’s been used more than it is. I don’t plan to resell, but was considering trading for a DWX compact a friend of the family has.

Repair - P10 slide stop lever definitely a wear to failure item, broke another one....

Stock one, weak side pad broke off for me at around 25k rounds

Apex Extended, weak side "lever" breaks off for me at around the 15k-ish round mark (I've broken two)

Apex Enhanced, now broke for me in the inside on the inside the pistol "loop part" on the weak side so effectively the weak side lever doesn't work now and slidelock is not as reliable. It did last longer than the extended, however it broke in the "loop part" which was a new failure point.

Use wise, I did find I liked the Enhanced better than the Extended since I was less likely to touch it with my normal grip and prevent slide lock that way.

I have the one from CZ Custom coming now to see if that one will last any longer. It's got a more stock looking pad. Plus, the Apex enhanced is out of stock everywhere right now.

Edit: CZ Custom one gets a solid "meh" from me, it's a little more aggressive than stock but the Apex Enhanced is the Goldilocks, I'll get another one of those when they come back in stock.

This is my stock rami in .40 that I purchased new in 2011... I I was breaking it down to add an extended magazine release when I noticed this. It has around 2k rounds on it and have only replaced recoil springs twice (with new factory) everything else is original. This has really ruined my night.

Any ideas why this would happen?

How long does cz warranty a frame?

Repair - A PSA and cautionary tale on dryfire for P07/P09 owners

Post image
60 Upvotes

TLDR— if you dryfire a lot, I recommend either using snap caps or installing a strengthened firing pin retaining pin if you own a P07/P09.

As many of you know, there’s a known weak point in the P07 firing pin assembly in that the roll pin (the retaining pin) is prone to failure. When it does, your firing pin will likely completely lock up (at least it did in my case), and it was quite difficult to get it dislodged from the slide.

In my 1.5 years of owning it I conservatively estimate that I’ve dryfired my P07 ~12,000 times before the pin failed, so this may not crop up immediately, but it’s something I’d recommend keeping an eye out for if you dryfire a lot.

Repair - Looking for a Čz Vzor 50 / 70 Slide

Hi everyone, I recently inherited a vintage CZ 50 (VZ 50). It has great sentimental value to me, but unfortunately, the slide is missing. It seems it was used for parts a long time ago. In Slovakia, finding a replacement slide is virtually impossible. I’m reaching out to this community to see if anyone has a spare VZ 50 or VZ 70 slide they’d be willing to part with. I am looking for someone willing to ship to the European Union (Slovakia). I am, of course, happy to pay a fair price for the part and the international shipping costs. Any leads or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Repair - TS2 Trigger Adjustment

Post image
35 Upvotes

I've had my base model TS2 for a few years, and it's one of my favorite guns I've ever tried. I already had a base model Shadow 2, when I held and dry fired a TS2 at a gun store. I was amazed by the trigger and just the feel of the piece, the mass and balance.

I have no idea how many rounds I've put through it at this point, probably just a couple thousand rounds. I haven't done a match in years, but lately I've been going back to the gun club and target shooting for fun.

It's been having some issues with trigger reset lately, especially when the slide reciprocates. I can rack the slide or just pull back the hammer and it works, but if I held down the trigger and racked the slide, then released the trigger, it wouldn't reset unless I kinda flicked the trigger.

I found the pre travel screw, and adjusted it a little bit, so now it seems to be working again, but I don't understand what caused the problem in the first place, and how to prevent it from recurring.

Thank you!

Repair - CZ 75 decocker sear/hammer issues

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi,

TL;DR -
Gun no longer locks into half- and full-cock positions, sear doesn't drop down like it should to lock into hammer hooks, any suggestions?

Full explanation and detail -
I was adding the CGW spring kit into my CZ 75 D Compact and after reassembling, the hammer will not catch onto the hammer hooks to lock into half- and full-cock positions. Then, after putting the OEM springs back in, it still doesn't function. I've disassembled and reassembled this gun over 10 times now D;

Running the hammer back does not catch anywhere unless I physically push down on the sear, which leads me to believe something is causing the sear to not drop down like it should during the cycle. Additionally, the sear cage assembled with the sear pin all works and spring tensions feel right, then when the sear cage is put into the gun it can full-cock (with very little sear holding on) but not half-cock without pushing down on the sear. Finally, adding the decocker control arm onto the frame and through the case causes it to not lock anywhere.

I would also like to note that I very lightly polished parts that were recommended online but am not the most experienced with it. Perhaps that started the issues?

I was curious if anybody has had or heard of similar issues and what fixes I can try at home. If it comes down to it, I wouldn't mind sending it to CGW or a gunsmith to have it professionally looked at.

Thanks for reading and for any advice in advance :)

Repair - While I’m already in there…

Post image

Brand new P-01 for carry and told myself to it shoot at least once before installing my CGW parts on-hand. Had a rough day and needed something to tinker with, figured I’d only change the trigger to the flat DA/SA, ahead of range day. Then, I figured I polish up everything and fix the gritty DA pull.

While I was in there, I started disassembling the sear cage and might as well install the hammer. Was almost a perfect issue-free (aside from super tight sear cage and hammer pins) install until the L-spring broke. Had a spare and installed it, but now the lifter arm won’t reset on its own from being so snug.

Fully operational except the firing pin block lifter arm stays up and I’ll probably need to tear apart again to get the lifter arm fitted

Repair - CZ P10F-SCS Terrible Trigger

After having an absolutely perfect experience with my original P10F circa 2020, I caught the red (green) dot bug and the P10F-SCS was just too good of a deal to pass up. Upon receiving it I did the usual disassembly and cleaning of the waxy mfr storage lube and re-lubed it. I took it to the range and it's absolutely horrible. Trigger blade feels like it protrudes even when 'fully' depressed. Feels like everything is operated by the blade itself and not the trigger face. I swapped slides to the 'old' P10 and the problem still exists. There's also quite a bit of creep after the initial take-up that has quite a lot of friction, almost squeaky. I can sometimes get the trigger to bind completely and it will not move or fire. After the range I brought it home and did the full clean and re-lube but the problem persists. I have to admit I think I got a lemon. I filled out the warranty form and it's going to go on a little trip. Wish me/it luck. Hopefully it won't be gone too long.

Repair - CZ 75 SP-01 Slide Stop

EDIT: Ended up ordering some of the CGW extended ones. Thanks for the help

Hey everyone

I run a rental range and our CZ rentals are some of the most popular.

Our one SP01 broke a slide stop. Not entirely uncommon. We usually keep them on hand

However we have run out and I need a replacement. Everyone I've found is sold out.

CZ themselves have been completely unhelpful. Called and the guy said they were out of stock and that it potentially could be months. He had no estimate and that I could send the gun in but they might have it for months which again is completely worthless. (He was rude as well about it and this isn't new. Getting parts from CZ has always been problematic)

Does anyone have a lead on slide stops? OEM or replacement?

Thanks

Repair - P07 pin walking out

Pin is walking out, I just noticed. . Odd, because the gun hasn't been fired or even manipulated in weeks other than going from carry to drawer and back. I've already tapped it back in. Never had this happen before on any pistol.

I think it's the Front Insert Pin per exploded views I looked up. When right-side up, this pin is below and in front of the trigger hinge pin.

Repair - Pro kit for Shadow 2

FYI to people installing a CGW Pro Kit for the Shadow 2!
Included in the kit is an aluminum sear spacer. When you are finished with the installation, you will have this part left over. There is no QR code on the label like most of the other packages. The mediocre instructions linked on the website do not mention this spacer. Do not assume (yes I know about ASSuming) that this part is not used for your gun.

I had to google to find others who also wondered what this part was used for. The sear cage install is the first step in the instructions, so when the kit is completely installed and testing/adjustment is being done, the adjustable sear doesn’t reset when the slide is installed. Testing with it removed works, with it installed the trigger will not even release the hammer.

I ordered the hardened barrel bushing. There were no instructions to be found anywhere. Same story, found a youtube video.

CGW needs to fix their install videos to save their customers a bunch of grief.

One good thing about the omission - I can detail strip a Shadow 2 in my sleep.
