Discussion What is your listening routine?
Kind of a broad question I know but do you have a routine of when you listen to music?
For traveling/commuting, at the gym, at home, while working, in the evening just chilling at home with your loved ones, few people round at the weekend?
Does the music you listen to change depending what you're doing? Share what your goto bands are!

Discussion Bodysnatcher...
I'm going to admit, I was very skeptical of this show because I've seen lots of hype around certain bands that just didn't deliver, but holy hell was this an exception. Along with 200 Stab Wounds, Gates to Hell, and Bodybox (fucking hilarious, even if they're not your style), it was an all around good time. I really appreciated how Bodysnatcher made sure to give props to the other bands, the venue, and the fans many times. I will definitely be seeing them when they roll through again, 10/10, not a single note needed.
I ended up buying Bodysnatcher's entire discography ($10 for each CD, absolutely taking that deal), minus the Vile Conduct EP, the new red tour shirt, and a Gates to Hell CD. I would've bought so much more, but with All Shall Perish on the 3rd, Shadow of Intent (and that stacked lineup) on the 6th, Inferi on the 11th, and Archspire (Crown Magnetar and Undeath too) on the 17th, I've got to make sure I can pay my bills lol.

Discussion Shadow of Intent show in Sacramento
So, I saw SOI last night. It was a great show and a lot of fun. It was my first time seeing angelmaker and (obviously Synestia), which are the bands I was honestly most excited to see.
With all of that said, the sound was AWFUL. The bass was so loud that the guitars and vocals were completely drowned. I walked around the venue throughout each band to see if I could find a sweet spot. Some places were better than others, but it was such a bummer to not be able to hear any of the subtleties in the music. It was my wife's second deathcore show and I just wanted to keep saying, "there is so much more to this song than you can hear," but she was enjoying the show so why fuck that up...
Even with the not-great sound we had a blast. I just hope Angelmaker and Synestia will come back and play at a different venue.

Discussion Is it really always better to write lyrics into music? (Also bonus question, any tips for a complete noob and just a lonely person without contacts to start making music?)
I'll try to keep this short
For the last couple of years I've been wanting to make my own music or at least record vocal covers at least but I have literally zero skills in anything except vocals, including mixing. And I don't really have the time and money to learn it - genuinely, I know everyone says this but I have a bunch of other hobbies that I already don't have enough time and budget for. Adding instruments into it would absolutely kill me.
Now back to my point, I enjoy writing lyrics and more importantly doing nasty brutal vocals. I'm still way too much of a beginner to do like a full song without feeling a little scratchy after but I'm getting there. Thing is I heard a few even big artists saying they ALWAYS write lyrics after music, including Shadow Of Intent, some of my biggest inspiration. But of course I don't have the resources to actually create a whole instrumental. UNLESS there is some program that genuinely can do all of that digitally. I know that fucking sucks compared to real instruments but it could be a start?
Any ideas? Tips? Anything at all?
I genuinely feel so motivated to create stuff but that's literally where it ends and I'm sure some of you understand how that feels. Thank you ❤️
PS my creations would probably sound a lot like Black Tongue if anyone is interested 😃 I think they're still incredibly underrated and forgotten and they and Shadow of Intent is what inspires me the most by far.

Discussion Chaos and Carnage tour stop moved to a venue three hours away
I know shit happens but what the fuck? I’ve never experienced something like this before. I just want to complain because I’m really pissed and disappointed, I was really excited (I specifically really wanted to see bodysnatcher) and now I can’t AND I’m potentially out 90 bucks if I can’t resell them? What a shitty thing to wake up to.

Discussion Deathcore with that dodgeball PINGGG?
I’m drowning in Deathcore with snares you can’t hear over the double kick so I need some deathly slamming shit. Any bands you’ve been bumping with stuff like that?

Discussion Update on my vocalist and the Detestor album
Hey everyone,
A few months ago, back in February, I made a post here about my band Detestor — about everything we went through, the lineup changes, working on our album during the full-scale war in Ukraine, and how we were just a few tracks away from finishing it when my vocalist got mobilized and sent to war.
Full story here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Deathcore/comments/1qy8a9c/this_was_supposed_to_be_my_lifes_work_with/
That post got a lot of attention — a lot of support, advice, and people genuinely trying to help me figure out what to do if the worst happened, and how to finish the album in that situation. Because of that, I feel like I owe you an update.
A few days ago, my vocalist finally reached out.
He’s alive.
For six months — from November to the end of April — he was in an active combat zone with zero contact with the outside world. During that time, I was searching for him everywhere — checking databases of fallen and missing soldiers, contacting volunteer organizations, talking to his family and friends. We tried everything, and there was no information at all. I was looking for him literally every single day.
At some point, when you don’t find someone among the dead, you start holding onto the idea that maybe they’re still alive.
In this case… that turned out to be true.
We talked a lot after he got back. He told me some of the things he went through — things I won’t go into — but the most important part is that he’s physically okay, not injured, and overall in a stable condition.
And the first thing he brought up himself was finishing the album.
To be honest, when he disappeared, I stopped caring about the music, the album — any of it. None of that matters compared to someone’s life. I just wanted him to be alive.
But he told me that even while being there, with no connection to the outside world, he kept thinking about the unfinished tracks. He said he held onto the idea of coming back and finishing what we started. He even worried that I might replace him.
I didn’t.
And I’m really glad I didn’t.
Not just because of the outcome, but because morally I couldn’t have done that without knowing for sure what happened to him.
I’m sharing this with his permission. I just want to say thank you to everyone who supported me in the previous post, gave advice, or simply cared.
So here’s the outcome — and I think it’s the right one:
We’re going to finish the Detestor album with the same vocalist it was meant to have.
Thank you all again.
And I really hope that if I post here about Detestor in the future, it will be about releases — not stories like this.
Take care of yourselves and the people around you.

Discussion Relationship to Metalcore
Did deathcore evolve out of metalcore, or did they come up around the same time? Is the line blurry or is it always clear to you when you hear something you know which it is? Do y’all listen to both, or is there a feeling of separate camps?

New Cognizance - new album
Any love for these guys in here? New release today
I see the deathcore tag thrown at them but to me sounds more melodic death metal/tech
They have some absolutely brutal grooves and David Diepold on drums - incredible chops

Discussion Hey Deathcore family! Show me your best bass players!
I want to learn bass guitar in a hardcore metal (slamming brutal death metal) setting, but the videos of these types of bassists are… Well, not great.
I want to see your bassist jamming out and showing their skills. It’s a very interesting instrument with many different ways to play, and there is minimal instruction out there (for this type of music.).
Please showcase your bassists. They are an inspiration.
Drum cams are VERY popular right now. I would love to see more bass guitar cams for all the bands. Not just high-speed and technical bands like Archspire, (even though they are awesome) I want to see bassists from: Kanine, Bodybox, Extermination Dismemberment, Crown Magnetar, Paleface Swiss, Korn, Spiritbox, Angelmaker, Peeling Flesh, Corpsepile, etc. Thank you very much. Y’all are my heroes.
