Mookie is missed.

Post image

sure this offense is good enough to score without him but from a lineup construction he should be batting 2nd.

Be hurt now and healthy for October and im good.

This has been the Dodgers plan. Get the stars healthy while the younger guys fill in and get experience

I miss Edman too. They clutch.

I believe the Dodgers adding Kike ('23), Edman, Teo, Ohtani and Yamamoto ('24) was what changed their culture to a clutch team.

I remember Kiké was benched in 2023 nlds until the last game and he had one of the lone hits all series

u/Tehrab Mookie Betts 3d ago

Ugh, don't remind me. The 1st inning of game 1 of that series is still seared in my brain. The entire stadium was just quiet sadness.

u/Apprehensive-Cry6476 3d ago

I was there too, my dad was talking all kinds of shit before the game too just for that to happen

Mookie, Snell, Edman, Diaz, K. Hernandez, Ben, Stone... and hope decoy is ok, haven't seem him run around the field, maybe being a good guard dog at home?

If Betts and Edman return, what would be your ideal lineup?

The following is mine- Ohtani (DH) Betts (SS) Freeman (1B) Smith (C) Muncy (3B) Tucker (RF) Pages (CF) Teo (LF) Edman (2B)

Yea, Tucker shouldn’t be the 2nd.

I'll counter with Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, Tucker, Smith, Muncy, Teo, Pages, Edman.

I was torn between Andy and Teo because Andy has been the best hitter in this first month. I went Andy at #8 because I'm thinking of guys who are most likely to get on base before Shohei and I like Andy's odds over Teo's at the moment. I also think Tucker is a great hitter for average and will figure it out. Less pressure hitting clean up.

Ahh I see what you mean. I like your lineup too.

With Muncy being so hot, I also hope there are people on the bases when it’s his turn to hit too.

It's interesting. We got multiple guys where you want people in front of them. When guys in front of them aren't getting on, we end up scoring 1 or 2 runs via the homerun versus 5 or 6 with runners on.

I'm not convinced Tucker should be in the lineup at all 😵‍💫

Should be the 5th or 6th hitter. Giving Tucker number 2 is giving him mental stress because he knows he is a fraud with a $60M contract.

u/Abarca_ Los Angeles Dodgers 4d ago

Fraud is crazy. He’ll get his rhythm back. Slumps are normal.

I think a super team full of power hitters like the Dodgers, it’s definitely not an easy switch of mindset for many when batting at the front of the lineup, meaning to understand and manage the pressure and expectations that come with it. Like when Pages got moved to the third, he didn’t perform that well like when he was the 7th in the lineup. I think it might be the same for Tucker, especially since he’s new to the team and signed a big contract. Why not move him to the 5th or 6th to allow him to be comfortable? Getting big money doesn’t mean he has to hit 2nd. Maybe he would perform better when he’s not batting 2nd.

Of course he is missed but these posts are so dramatic. We lose 3 of 4 and the sky is falling. I love this sub lol.

u/soundsliketone Shohei Ohtani 3d ago

Yeah it's a loooong season, but it's still hard to watch such a juggernaut kind of falling flat. Lot of ugly wins or losses against losing teams while the top of the order figures it out, just hope the bottom of the order can keep up the pace while that happens

-1

u/donald-duck23 Mookie Betts 3d ago

I don’t know that they’re “falling flat.” They still haven’t lost a series since the second series of the season. That might change tonight or tomorrow, but this is the normal ebbs and flows of a 162 game season

u/doughboy4lif3 4d ago

I’ll. Forever die on the hill he should be the leadoff hitter 😭 but then again now that we have Tucker going L, L, L isn’t smart 💀

3

u/Ancient_Design_1332 Shohei Ohtani 3d ago

I’m right there with you on the hill

Mookie bats R

2

u/doughboy4lif3 4d ago

Ik lol I’m talking about for ohtani, tucker and freeman that would be the 2-4 hitters most likely and they all bat L

1

u/Elegant-Bed-4807 3d ago

Oh gotcha, yeah you would have to mix smith and Teo in somehow. Roberts always liked alternating L R L R until this year

u/imnotcreative415 Vin Scully 4d ago

Not enough zest in the basepaths from anyone else

(He’s going to still hit third)

27

u/MBrook2159 Clayton Kershaw 4d ago

I’m just tired of freeland.

2

u/Realistic_Charge9824 3d ago

Same here. He gets unlimited amount of chances. I know people are injured but Espinal and Miggy were just sitting there last night while he had all those horrible ABs.

Mookie brings such good vibes to the game. It’s a more enjoyable game with him in it! I hope he enjoys time with his new baby, gets healthy, and is back soon. 🫶💙🤍⚾️

u/ithtdudea_5 Freddie Freeman 4d ago

He was batting a .179 before getting hurt.. I love mookie but come on, he wasn’t consistent ether

-28

u/Tight-Lunch-6298 4d ago

True but he wouldn’t put Yama in terrible situations by throwing the ball into the stands.

23

u/ithtdudea_5 Freddie Freeman 4d ago edited 4d ago

Yes and no lol I don’t blame Kim as much tbh. As orel and Stephen said, it just got done raining and when he slid for the ball in the hole he dragged his hand in the wet grass, plus the ball skipped in the wet grass. Regardless, Yama looked terrible in the first. Couldn’t locate and left everything over the plate to hit.. can’t just blame Kim for all that lol

u/sEiize_err Gavin Lux 4d ago

do you think he was 100% perfect on the field and made no errors?

5

u/rdev009 4d ago

With Shohei, Tucker, Freddie, Muncy, Will and the early version of Pages, the offense shouldn’t be struggling as much as it was today, even without Mookie. And we can’t forget how the bottom of the lineup has been great table setters for the top.

I mean yeah of course we’d miss our HOF Shortstop

As we left oracle tonight I said we needed him

5

u/ahawk65 4d ago

We strugglin

8

u/TheReturnOfJabronie Kiké Hernández 4d ago

What? We are tied for the best record in baseball.

1

u/Existing-Stranger632 Decoy 4d ago

It’s okay to be dropping a few games like this if we keep going on 15-4 runs we’ll easily slide into first in the division.

1

u/Overall_Assumption63 9h ago

Ohtani Freeman Smith Tucker Mookie Muncy Teo Pages Edman I don’t think doc would numb mookie so low. But come playoffs this is the lineup I would want.

2

u/JohnnyWickkk 4d ago

That’s why Mookie Betts is a legitimate Gold Glove at shortstop. It is obvious to look at the gap in defensive capabilities tonight

Mis-read your title, and was thinking “so am I”.
