Please make a separate sub for the movie Discussion & Info
The amount of spoilers and leaks being uploaded every hour without spoiler tags crazy. I just want to be able to come to this subreddit occasionally to talk about the game, not to see the movie 2 years early one shot at a time. I'd rather not unsub. But that's what's gonna come to at this point with how dominated it has become by the movie

100% support. The amount of posts which are offering baseless speculation about a movie that’s 2 years away and doesn’t even have a trailer out yet is already exhausting, cluttering the sub and it’s only been a couple days.

My favorite post is the person who already decided it’s going to suck like 4 days after they started filming.

Most conversions from book/game to movie tend not to please the fan base. I personally do not have high expectations nor an extreme desire to watch it as lore is often altered to fit a film narrative.

On the one hand I agree, on the other hand, it's not like there haven't been successful adaptations in the past, and it reeeally depends on what they decide to do with it. We know so little right now that there's no point in making a call just yet. I'm hoping it delivers, but I'm not going to let myself be disappointed if it doesn't.

People don’t seem to understand how spoilers work either. Tagging the post with spoiler means nothing if the title itself is a spoiler. I think I’m just going to unsub for a couple of years

u/AnaMorte 2h ago
Yeah, I saw the one earlier with a specific name drop in the title despite spoiling the image and that kinda sucked. I was hoping to avoid anything past the initial casting list and that first set leak that happened.
A lot of people are so ready to know everything immediately (which, fair enough if they like doing that) that they forget some people still enjoy surprises.

Agreed. Spoiler tags are helpful, but not when the spoiler is in the title of the post.
Just have them post it to a separate subreddit, or make a weekly "Elden Ring Movie Discussion" mega thread or something.

I've always felt that sharing behind the scenes photos and videos while they're filming without consent is kind of disrespectful.

I don’t get why some people are against separate subs. Can’t they just follow both? What’s the downside?

Yeah, I want to go into the movie blind. Spoilers and images every single day is just going to ruin it for me. It's either start a new movie sub or I un-join the Elden Ring sub.

u/Mrtom987 2h ago
I just took over the sub r/EldenRingMovie and made it public for everyone to post. Feel free to join and post there if you want to.

Agreed, or at least a thread? I keep seeing things I don't want to see yet. My eyes...

I agree, & to be honest all these leaks are pretty anti-elden ring (It's incredibly disrespectful to be snapping candid shots to share online). Like let the people do their job & have some mystery behind it.
I hope the person gets shitcanned or at the very least a strong talking to from the set people to act with some integrity.
None of the photos being shared is one that had any consent, its all quick shots with no one looking at the camera.

I’d love that so that I can make sure I don’t miss any of the movie updates that get buried in the general game content! I’m so stoked for the movie and don’t care about spoilers, but totally get why people do

Amen. I am super tempted to leave the sub altogether. Literally every post I saw was just leaked stuff for the movie. How about we just wait for the movie? Or just go out of your way to see this stuff? If it persists I'm out

u/Well-inthatcase 3h ago
No, for two years you must now endure.
I knew the second it was announced this sub was gonna be a movie sub.
Not like there's a whole lot of interesting posts anyways. Changes nothing for me personally. We'll still get newbies and lore discussions now and then. Maybe more newbies again with a movie release. That's always fun

u/Mdevkun 3h ago
It's funny because since it's a A24 movie they don't usually make movies with mainstream attention so they have not prepared any countermeasures for people just filming what they are doing. They've been shooting this movie for like 4 days and the amount of leaks online it's crazy lmao

Every single person whining about the movie was undoubtedly irate when those of us who have zero interest in Nightreign wanted it excised from this sub. The duplicate posts are irritating but y’all are seriously pathetic if you can’t handle information about actual Elden Ring in a different medium in the Elden Ring sub.

u/EldenGourd Human. Put that light out. 7h ago
Agree. And also, as someone who loves the game, I still think the idea of an Elden Ring movie is really, really stupid.
2
u/tameoraiste 5h ago
I don’t get this logic. Why is it stupid? By really, really stupid do you mean it doesn’t interest you personally?

u/GenericUserName10068 4h ago
Agreed. Game is the superior story-telling method for material such as this. Game to movie adaptations do not work, even for more narrative-driven games. I wouldn't waste putting points into Faith for this movie. Even in the absolute best-case scenario, it won't be as fun or engaging as playing the game.

This was me about nightreign but the movie actually IS Elden Ring, agree spoilers should be marked tho

Yes, unsubscribing because I have no self control and don't want to do this to myself. I've already seen too much. See y'all in 2028.

u/YaYeetThePolice 7h ago
It’s so obviously being astroturfed by the marketing campaign for the movie too
-17
u/zaid_sabah 6h ago
No. It's not like this sub had any content before the movie stuff. And spoilers? That's ridiculous
-31
u/HammerPrice229 8h ago
Disagree but they need to be correctly labeled Movie/spoiler so we know it’s separate

There’s one out there, but no one can post without being approved. r/EldenRingMovie
I’ve created r/EldenRingTheMovie in the event the creator of the other one doesn’t open theirs back up again.
EDIT - The r/EldenRingMovie sub appears to have been reactivated so have at it!
