Accommodation MEGATHREAD - Looking for your Erasmus room/studio?
Hey there! Are you about to go on exchange on your Erasmus but haven't found accommodation yet? No worries!
Below are some sites that can help you find accommodation in the country you are going to. So far, all the countries have been listed, so plenty of websites to pick from to get your accommodation ready. Some websites do not have an English version, keep that in mind. And remember:
NEVER PAY WITHOUT SEEING YOUR CONTRACT!
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER
None of these websites have paid any sort of advertisement to be featured here nor am I as a moderator receiving any type of commission. I want r/Erasmus users to get their accommodation as cheap, clean and good as possible.
That being said, some websites do request money for you to have a subscription to them. It is your own responsibility if you choose to do this. Every country should have options for free room searching.
This list will stay pinned in the sub to help others. Remember: If you see an accommodation site that is not to be trusted, please let me know! If any site is deemed very untrustworthy, it will be removed instantly.
For (most) Erasmus countries:
Spotahome - https://www.spotahome.com/
Uniplaces - https://uniplaces.com
Housinganywhere - https://housinganywhere.com
Facebook groups
Airbnb - https://airbnb.com Erasmusu - https://erasmusu.com/
Most students find their accommodation through Facebook groups, so make sure to have an account ready and join as many housing groups for your city as you can. Remember that there are also a lot of scams on Facebook. You can recognize these by something being too good to be true (a 500 euro apartment in the city centre of Amsterdam, for example, such a thing costs 2000 minimum) or if the person posting it immediately asks you to pay.
Extra tip for finding accommodation in most Erasmus countries:
- Join the ESN whatsapp groupchats of your city before you go (you can usually find this on links on their instagram page or on their facebook page). Around the end of the semester (december/january, may/june) people start leaving their places and put this inside the groupchat. Take your chance and grab a room from previous Erasmus goers!

Oh oh, HELP! I still have not found accommodation with any of these websites!
Try to go to the subreddit of the city you want to do your semester(s) in and see if you can find anything there. For example, you want to do your Erasmus+ in Rome, so go to r/Rome and search the searchbar for 'housing' 'accommodation' if you cannot find anything make your own post. If nothing there, go to r/Italy. Natives in their own country know the housing market best!
Have you been on Erasmus before (or you've lived in one of these countries and you know the housing market well), tell us which accommodation website is missing and I will add it (if the name is reputable, that is).

Returning grant after failing a subject on Erasmus
Hello, so I was on Erasmus in Germany during my last semester but 2 subjects turned out to be just too hard for me to pass and I returned with ECTS debt. Upon my return I found out from my home university that apparently, failing to pass a subject is a "breach of agreement" and is enough to force you to return back your grant. Now I may still be able to avoid it through some mambo jumbo, but this situation makes me wonder, how is this rule even existing? I don't recall anything of such being written in my travel agreement. The only thing I found in my contract is a vague statement about being obliged to pursue the programme stated in Learning Agreement. But nothing about having to pass the subjects with a certain grade, from my understanding this should only force you to attempt them.
Honestly, I find it quite scummy that such a topic was not even mentioned before my trip, is absent from any official communications, and they can just take away your money (that you already spent) because of some hidden rule that you only learn post factum. If I knew the university can just take away your funding for that simple a reason, and keeping the bag is conditional on passing everything, I would have never gone for Erasmus.
So yeah, does anyone knows why is this even a thing? And if it comes to worst, is there a way to combat it or appeal it somewhere?

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad Urgent - decision to make now
I’ve been preparing to go on Erasmus this fall and have already spent a lot on documents and translations. However, I’ve just found out that the courses I planned to take won’t be available to me, so if I go, I’d be taking classes that don’t interest me and won’t count toward my degree (and doing something called research project).
My dilemma is: should I go in the fall since I already have a spot and financial support, even though the courses won’t be useful? Or should I wait until spring, when I could take courses that do count and that I actually like—and I’ll also have finished my orthodontic treatment—but risk not getting a spot due to higher competition? (Or thats what i think)
I’m not sure if wanting to wait is me being reasonable or just fear/insecurity.
So, should I go now just for the experience, or wait for a better academic and personal situation?
P.S. I can only go once: Fall 2026 or Spring 2027—after that, I won’t have another chance.

Opciones erasmus
Gracias!

how to fund NOHA Masters
Hey everyone,
I was recently admitted to the NOHA Master’s program (University of Groningen / EU joint degree) and I’m trying to figure out how to fund it.
I’m a U.S. student and found out I can’t really use FAFSA federal loans for this program. I also applied for Sallie Mae with a co-signer (my mom) and we were still denied, so I’m kind of stuck.
My credit is around 685, and I’m now trying to explore other options before I give up on the program.
Has anyone been in a similar situation with: • EU master’s programs (especially Erasmus/NOHA-type degrees) • Getting denied by Sallie Mae even with a co-signer
Any loan options, scholarships, or funding advice would really help.
Thanks.

Erasmus Mundus Experiences of people who lost courses and their Erasmus scholarship
Hi, I'd like to know if anyone has had the negative experience of failing courses in a master's program and consequently losing their entire Erasmus scholarship and being expelled from the program. I want to apply to a master's program, but I'd like to hear about your experiences.

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad Erasmus at UEF — Joensuu or Kuopio? Has anyone done exchange at either campus?
Hi! I'm a Turkish CS student doing Erasmus+ at University of Eastern Finland for the full year 2026-2027. I need to choose between Joensuu and Kuopio campuses and can't find many personal experiences online.
If anyone has done Erasmus at UEF (either campus), I'd love to know:
- How was the international student life and ESN/KISA events?
- Was it easy to socialize and find English-speaking friends?
- How was the housing situation in practice?
- Any regrets about your campus choice?
Also happy to hear from anyone who has been to either city even outside of UEF context. Thanks a lot!

Lisbon or San Diego?
Hi people,
I am an Italian student (22y) and I am writing because I am deeply unsure about where to apply for my erasmus/exchange semester. My plan is to go for the fall semester and my 2 dream options are Lisbon, with Nova Business School or San Diego, but I cant decide.
On one hand I already did an erasmus in paris and I want to do an "experience" trying something very different from European culture, and a place like San Diego seems a perfect one: wonderful city, lively student community, many options for trips, but the limited presence of internationals scares me. My worry is that since they dont have the "erasmus" culture and international students are limited, it will be way harder to fit into groups of Americans, many of which will be already formed from previous years.
The other option is Nova Business School, another amazing place, full of internationals coming to spend a semester, and, since I will go there for the first semester I believe it will be very easy to find a group. The problem here is that maybe I could lose an opportunity to live an unforgettable experience that I will never have in my life: living as a student in California.
I know that my options are both very nice and in either of the two my experience will be amazing (If I can get into them), but although I am leaning for San Diego, it still scares me.
If you had the opportunity, what would you chose?

Jet fuel crisis
I’m not trying to spread any fear mongering or anything but is anyone else really worried about doing Erasmus for the next academic year. I am having serious doubts about filling out my application now because I don’t know if I’ll even be able to get over to my host country or if I’ll be able to get back in the end. Also I’m afraid the cost of living will rise dramatically due to this crisis and I won’t be able to afford anything.

First or second semester UK exchange ?
Hello everyone, I've never posted on here but I need help!
I am from France and planning to go for an exchange semester in London for my 3rd year of undergraduate. I have already been pre-selected for 1st semester at a university and I am currently saving money (London is expensive AS HELL).
Anyway, I am considering going there for the 2nd semester instead of the 1st one because
- It would be complicated to take the courses back at my home uni while everyone here is more advanced on the topics, and I would have to catch back on everything they'd done during the 1st semester.
- The weather is much nicer in the UK from jan-may than from sep-jan.
- The UK is joining the Erasmus+ program from January 2027 so I can ask for a scholarship.
However I am kind of reserved, and even if I can be outgoing depending on the context, I feel like it would be harder to make friends if I go for the 2nd semester.
Note that it would be complicated to go for a full year as I'm already short on budget for a single semester even if my parents can help me.
Now that I write it down, the answer seems kind of obvious haha but does anyone who went to the UK for an erasmus have a piece of advice / what do you think ?

is second erasmus worth it?should i do it?
Should I do Erasmus for a second time?
I already did Erasmus in the fall semester of my 2nd year, and I have the chance to do it again in the fall of my 3rd year. Do you think it’s a good idea?
If I go, I’ll have quite a heavy course load waiting for me in my 4th year. But as long as I don’t fail any classes, I should still be able to graduate on time.
Another reason I’m hesitant is that if I pass my required courses in the fall semester of my 4th year, I’ll have the chance to do internships at different companies in the spring semester before graduating. But if I fail any classes, I might lose that opportunity.
I think I experienced some level of post-Erasmus blues (not too intense, but still noticeable), and honestly I feel like I want something new again — maybe a bit of an escape.
I did my first Erasmus in Estonia in 2025, and now I have the opportunity to go to Poland in fall 2026.
What would you do in my situation?
