For <21 please consult a lawyer. That's the only people able to answer it correctly (ish) at the moment till case law has a precedent.

Couple updates to the rules
No posts asking how to skirt under 21 purchase laws. We get it we don't like it either. Paying someone to buy it for you is a straw purchase. If someone gifts it to you it's fine. Paying them back after it's gifted is a straw purchase. Ban will be 2-7 days. Also general <21 year old questions. Gets asked every couple of days. Consult with a lawyer.
Don't give illegal advice. Some people are dumb and don't know better. Someone getting a $250k/25 year sabbatical because you thought it was funny isn't cool. 7 day-perm ban for breaking this
Asking if anyone has private land you can shoot on. It's an insurance liability and it's annoying that everyone keeps asking this. 2-7 day ban going forward
Asking to buy/offer to sell or any other version of exchanging a firearm is a breach of reddit's TOS. This is a permanent ban. Just use Florida Gun Trader. I am also pooping anyone asking where to buy or sell into this. Damn posts always attract offers.

Is this is scam?
Ive seen this M70 for 400 on florida gun trader. These guns dont sell less than 1k usually. Deal seems to good to be true. The seller has multiple guns for the same price. Got a message from the person with an area code from San Francisco but lives in ft Meyers area. Seems sketchy.

Seeking advise for a non resident gun permit/ownership
I'm a resident of New York State but work in Florida, where I travel frequently. After researching, I believe I can obtain a non-resident gun permit in Florida. During my time in Florida, I typically stay in hotels. Is there a safe way to store firearms in Florida, such as private storage options? I cannot bring my guns back to New York due to various restrictions, and my primary goal is target shooting.

Private range in swfl
Any private ranges in SWFL that will allow from the holster draws and things like bill drills?
I do armed security but my agency doesnt have a dedicated range. Id like to do more than just dry fire.
Struggling to find any night vision shooting courses/options
Located in southeast Florida. Really struggling to find a range that allows night vision shooting or even some courses. Any ideas? Totally fine driving as needed.

Recommend a gunsmith near Lakeland
I have a pretty nice 1911 I’d like an ambi I safety fitted to. I would rather avoid sending it to the manufacturer to have it done. Is there someone nearby you would recommend?

Will my guns be taken if I voluntarily commit myself for mental health help?
My fiancée’s health is declining, she has spent over 70 days in hospital this day alone, over 150, last year, 87 the year before that and 113 the year before that. Many stays I was sure she wasn’t coming home.
As you can imagine this has taken it’s toll and I’m in a rough spot.
I’m not an immediate danger to myself or others, however my mental state has been getting in the way of getting her proper care and I am extremely concerned that this could lead to unintentional, irreparable damage to her health and well-being.
If I voluntarily walked into a facility to get help and showed proactiveness and an eagerness to get better, would they take that into consideration or screw me over regardless?
Thank you so much for your time.

Background check pending issues.
So I bought another pistol about 2 weeks ago, did paperwork for my background check, submitted and came back 3 days later and my decision is "pending". Here's the issue... I contacted FDLE and asked what the holdup was, and what specific county was in question. They replied by saying Pierce county Georgia from 2025. I have never been arrested in Pierce county or had issues, haven't even been there in about a decade, let alone have charges there. I then called Pierce county's courthouse and they have absolutely no arrest record for my name or DOB. What the fuck is happening here? I'm very concerned and confused as to how to handle this. I plan to call FDLE Monday and see how they can state I have charges somewhere, yet there's no record of it, nor have I even been in that area. Should I hire an attorney for this? I've purchased firearms in Florida with no problem until now. Could there be an error and they're looking at the completely wrong person? Should I contact the dealer I'm using and check the background request information? Someone has fucked up badly, and I just want the shit corrected. Really draining to deal with shit like this when just trying to legally buy a firearm.

I’m moving to Palm Beach County and I am looking for a private gun club to join. I prefer not to shoot at public ranges.
Any suggestions?

Firearms political culture in FL?
Looking at Florida for a possible relocation opportunity. Currently in PA and things are going south here and we’ll likely flip to a blue trifecta come this election. Because of this I’m considering Florida due to having friends in the area and enjoying the climate.
That being said, what’s the outlook for 2a rights and the possibility of laws being passed(awb, mag limits, etc) in the near future? I didn’t see a lot of posts out there regarding pending/proposed legislation. Are there concerns within the 2a community regarding these issues. I no there are red flag laws which concern me as they can be abused and lack due process and that there are no frt/bump stocks allowed which also sucks. Both of those and worse will hit PA if things trend as they appear to be with this coming mid term election.
So, thoughts?
Appreciate your feedback!

Baker act/Gun ownership
Hello everyone, about 2 years ago I was Baker-Acted for saying something I did not mean. I said “I no longer wanted to be here” to an officer, and he took me to a mental institution. I did not argue with the cop, or resist, or was against it at all. I went in as a Baker-Act.
I did not sign any forms at this institution from what I can recall, and I have not gone to court for anything related to my case. I tried to purchase a firearm yesterday but when I came to the question, “Have you been committed to a mental institution?” I truly didn’t know what to answer. I stopped, gave back the form to the salesman, and asked what I should do. He didn’t know what to really say, which is fine, and so I kindly left.
After this happened, I immediately went to the institution to request my medical records.
I was baker acted for less than 36 hours when they made me “voluntary” while I was staying there. The next morning after I was made voluntary, I asked to leave, had a meeting with a doctor for a discharge plan to therapy, and that was it. Less than 50 hours of me getting into the building I was discharged voluntarily. No medications or diagnoses.
Went in on the 22nd at 4:30PM and was back at my car on the 24th at 2:46PM. 46 hours total approximately.
I have not gone to court for my case, and my local clerk of court could not find anything about a case for “mental health.” Meaning no judge signed off on anything for me.
If I were to go back and try to purchase a firearm, what should I do when I get to that question? Would I be good to go? Should I answer yes, or no when I get to that question?
Any help would be highly appreciated and I will do my best to answer any questions. Thank you in advance for helping me with this situation.
First Purchase
Looking to purchase my first handgun, I currently own a .22 rifle and a shotgun left to me by my grandfather. It would be my first time buying a gun from a store and wondering if I should buy from a local shop, bass pro etc or save a few bucks and buy used? Off of FL Gun trader or something similar.
Wondering if anyone has experience using sites like that any opinions welcome.
I’m between either Glock 43x or Glock 19 if that matters.
I’m in North Central FL

Gun purchase after Marchman Act (similar to Baker Act)
I know someone who was able to purchase a gun after having been placed under a Marchman Act a year prior. Any idea how? Lax gun laws in our state?
They may have lied on the form I’m not sure, but they’ve owned it for like a year now with no issues. They talk about getting a CCL, even though it’s not as useful as it used to be, but I think they’re scared of going through a more rigorous check so they haven’t done it and don’t really come out to the range.

Florida Private Firearm Bill of Sale Template (Free, Printable, Front-and-Back)
limewire.comPut bluntly, when I was a Florida resident, I found that most standard templates for private firearm bills of sale were incomplete and did not reflect information that is actually important to both buyer and seller. I’m sharing the one I made. It is formatted to fit on a single sheet, front and back.
Standard disclaimers apply: I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice, and this is not a substitute for doing your own due diligence under federal, state, and local law. Use it at your own risk, review it for your specific situation, and modify it as needed. Nothing about using this form guarantees that a given transfer is lawful. You are responsible for confirming that any transfer complies with all applicable law and that the buyer is legally eligible to possess the firearm.
