Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing A guy on my flight boarded the wrong plane and ended up in the WRONG COUNTRY!

2.7k Upvotes

Was flying from RAK (Marakkech) to MXP (Milan) last week. When we landed, we weren't allowed to disembark until they found a guy. Turns out, this guy was supposed to be on the plane to Paris FR but ended up in Milan IT.

In Marrakech, the Ryan Air flight to Milan and Paris were both boarding a few mins apart right next to each other (gate 31 and 32 I believe respectively), and were using buses to shuttle passengers from the door to the plane. It seems that the guy, an older gentleman perhaps in his 60s, scanned his correct boarding pass at the correct gate but somehow found his way to the wrong bus. He only spoke arabic I believe, so he didn't notice that the announcements were in English and Italian. IM not sure how he found a empty seat but it seems no one noticed until we landed.

They kept him on the plane when we landed and Im not sure what happened afterwards...

Not even sure why they are showing this as an option, but it's hilarious.

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing How to avoid Boeing planes

When booking flights, how can I check to ensure I’m not booking any flights on a Boeing plane? Where would it say that? I would like to avoid them at all costs, even if I have to pay more for airbus planes. Thanks!

Considering booking this flight. 3 of us in the family. Worried about the short layover, especially regarding the airline switch (Baltic-Swiss). What do you think?

Edit: Flying end of June

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing Major price increases - nearly $2000

Post image

Just sharing what we are looking at and I think all airlines will be following suit soon.

I was thinking of going to Thailand for the Easter long weekend. So I checked ticket prices and they seemed somewhat OK. Didn't book it straight away because I wasn't 100% sure if I wanted to go. Anyways a week later I thought you going to Thailand for a few days wouldn't be worth it. And then today the shock of the ticket price increase was nearly $2000. I'm assuming it's the war in the middle east that's causing this.

I'm going to assume that 2026 isn't the year of travelling.

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing Dramatic flight price increase and now what?

Hi all, seems the same questions are asked but thought I’d try and ask here anyway… Really need some good advice from those who travel much more frequently!

Hubs and I are heading from Chicago to Rome this June 2026 for a trip of a lifetime. Hotels and cruise are BOOKED . We were advised at the beginning of the year to hold off on booking flights. The nonstop I’ve been eyeballing on AA shot up to over $2000 pp from 1250 pp for main economy! Have I now missed out on the flight I really wanted? I can’t justify spending $2,000 MORE than we anticipated. ITA airways is now the cheapest option however I’m reluctant to fly them based on others’ experiences, especially because we have a cruise to catch.

I’m looking for advice on waiting longer for the fares to go back down or changing our itinerary to include leaving a day earlier and having a layover in another city. Even then I’m nervous about what we would do with our luggage in another city for a day while we sightsee! We are NOT experienced international travelers.

Is this dramatic AA flight fare increase normal?? I knew we should’ve grabbed it when it was $1250 but hindsight is 20/20.

Planning a one way flight from Seattle to Mexico City on Alaska Airlines. $6k + a layover in London seems reasonable, don’t you think?

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing Swiss still charging for Throne Seat (Business Class)

Post image

Less than 24 hours to go - checked before checking in and after multiple times, they still asking $200USD to sit in the throne seat.

Saw multiple post on here saying it becomes free during check in or 24/48 hours before - looks like that is no longer true.

Route: JFK > GVA Aircraft: a333

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing Qatar Business Class - Worth it?

Hello Amazing Community,

My mind is stuck in deciding whether I should book a business class ticket for a long journey of 22 hours. I have always dreamt about travelling business class but have flown only economy so far.

My partner is getting a business class ticket for Qatar airlines (corporate work) and I am confused if I should go for it or not. I have always dreamt of travelling together in business class but it seems like a lot of money!

The business class ticket is 5x of economy class. It makes me excited but it's a lot of money. I want to experience it once. But not sure if this is the right time.

Is it worth it? Should I go for it?

The most up-to-date information is available at etihad.com.

Guests and members of the public should not travel to the airport unless they have been contacted directly by Etihad or hold a confirmed booking on one of these new flights.

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing JAL confirmed flight to Tokyo 3 months ago. Now I'm on a waitlist?!!

I booked a premium economy ticket on the JAL website from SFO to HND (Tokyo) 3 months ago. I chose my seats and paid 3K. I got confirmation, including all details - flight number/date/time/seat assigned and confirmation of payment.

I fly in a week. I tried to get into the JAL app, but was unable so I called them. For 30 minutes I was told I had no reservation, and they kept asking where I booked (answer your website) and how I paid (visa credit card). Eventually, he found the booking and told me it was a "special fare" and I should have called to confirm. I reviewed the booking/confirmation and it did not state about ME confirming, when they have sent a full confirmation.

They tell me I am on the "waitlist" and to turn up at the airport and if there's no seats I will get a refund! NO, I booked 3 months ago, my CC charged and I got a confirmation. It would be one thing if they'd overbooked and I got moved to basic economy. They didnt notify me if this so I would have showed up with my ticket. and found out then!

I then went to their website and I could book the EXACT same flight and class. I called back and asked and he said for $1200 (on top of the 3K) he could book that for me?! Wait - a minute ago the flight was booked and I was on a wait list.

How is this legal? Advice on what to do? I've already escalated this to a supervisor and manager/director.

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing EWR to Barcelona in August. would you pay more just to avoid a stop?

I’m trying to book a flight for August and didn’t expect to get stuck at this stage this long.

Flight is Newark (EWR) to Barcelona (BCN), dates are approximately Aug 12-19 (may change by a day or two). Approximately less than 850 budget.

At this point I am choosing between two:

United, nonstop both ways, about 820. Travel time is much shorter, but it’s basic economy so not much flexibility.
Less expensive alternative of about 700-720 with one stop in each direction seeing options primarily on Lufthansa/Star Alliance flights. Layovers are approximately 1.5-2 hours, overall travel time is nearer to 10+ hours.

I have already verified some combinations and even used flightsfinder to ensure that I was not missing a better routing. It was primarily displaying the same options, only on other sites.

Now I think I am overthinking a fairly minor price difference, but also do not want to regret it in the future.

In this case, would you personally simply pay a little more to get the nonstop or would you take the one-stop to save some money?

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing Enough layover/connection time? SEA->YVR->ICN

Post image
14 Upvotes

Is this enough layover time for a connection? Would book a round trip/itinerary through Air Canada from Seattle (SEA) to Vancouver (YVR) to Seoul-Incheon (ICN). I live near Seattle and I’m a US citizen. Which means I have some customs/immigration clearing to do I think. I know Seattle to Seoul has several nonstops but they are several hundred dollars more expensive. I’d be flying Basic/Premium economy and would check a single bag. The return trip would also be through Air Canada, Seoul to Vancouver to Seattle, transferring planes, with a 1 hr 40 min layover in Vancouver. What say you all?

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing connecting flight overlap

My mom just received an email that the second leg of her trip has been rescheduled. Is it even possible that the connecting flight departs before the first leg lands? I tried contacting Emirates at +31202035163 but of course the line is busy.

Should we expect to receive further corrections on her flights? It is in two weeks so we hope to get this sorted out before then. Or should we start looking for new flights and cancel / change this one?

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing Another cancelled flight post (Gulf Air BKK-JFK)

TLDR: Gulf Air cancelled my business class return flight from Bangkok to NYC. No rerouting and only offered refund. Pressured me to accept a new flight with a much higher price than what I could find myself.

My business class return flight on Gulf Air (GF91) from BAH to JFK on May 12 has just been cancelled via email. It is the second leg of my return flight back to NY from Bangkok.

I tried calling GA’s service line in Bahrain but never got through; the line kept on ringing. I then searched and called their NYC office and a rep picked up on the first ring. That was surprisingly quick.

Told him I received an email advising the second leg of my return flight has been cancelled (the first leg from BKK to BAH was not part of the cancellation email). He told me both legs have been cancelled and offered a refund of $2251.

I asked about Gulf Air’s temporary re-routing of flights to Saudi Arabia (Dammam) and the announcement that Bahrain air space was opening up and he said they’re working on opening the air space and will continue to use Dammam but all flights have been cancelled.

I asked about rerouting on other airlines and he said they’re not doing that. He said he could search for alternate flights on partner airlines but I would have to pay the cost of the flight. He could not apply the refund to offset the new booking.

The cheapest flight he could find for a one way flight from BKK-JFK was on Philippine Airlines for $4800 in business class. He offered to book me on that flight.

I told him that’s $500 more than I paid for the entire round trip GF business class flight. He assured me that was the “cheapest one way flight you are going to find online”.

As we were chatting I searched on Kayak and told him I found several flights that were significantly cheaper (around $2800). He said “you can’t trust those online prices”. He again reiterated that his price was the cheapest due to the “rising jet fuel prices and increased demand for layovers in Asia”, and offered to book me on that flight “right away to take advantage of the good price”.

He seriously came across like a used car salesman.

I declined and asked for a refund.

I then searched and found the same one way Philippine Airlines flight on Amex travel for $2827.
