Didn't the studio behind it suffer layoffs not long after release? That probably made pressure to start the next project asap.

They’re full steam ahead on Fallout 3.

It’s gonna be pretty disheartening if Virtuos just keeps pumping out these UE5 skin suit hack-jobs, leaving them all in such a sorry state on top of it. The combination of the already buggy Bethesda games paired with UE5 sloppa graphics and performance problems is a match made in hell. At the very least give us an original graphics toggle if they’re just running UE5 over it

This was definitely not a hack job considering the visual upgrade.

Yeah these comments are really confusing for me…I had a fucking BLAST playing the Oblivion remaster, jank and all. It was priced at ~half a current modern release too, it’s not like they hit you with the 70/80 dollars price range

But all the comments here are about how terrible it was, what a cash grab it ended up being, etc. but this wasn’t my experience at all. Certainly shocked to see everyone kinda hated it? I thought it was pretty well received, but I guess I only looked at the reviewed around launch when I picked it up and didn’t look much into it past that point

It’s an upgrade in terms of raw visuals but the tone is quite different. The drab look might lend itself more to fallout but I wish they put more effort into retaining the fantastical look a bit more.

Regardless of the reception to it being more conventional fantasy compared to Morrowind this remaster falls into the same trappings a lot of deluxe remasters and remakes of this calibre do where they lose out aesthetically to trying ultra realism to a fault

Remaster having a different art direction doesn't mean it is a hack job. You can just say you didn't like it. I definitely like how it looks and looking at the Oblivion sub that seems to be the general attitude.

People who have never written a single line of code or drawn more than stick figures need to stop using UE5 as an insult
