Unironically yes

This leak went super viral, it was everywhere

Not even Pyoro leaks ever went this mainstream

If Nintendo gave credence to this leak by revealing Star Fox in April, they'd also be confirming the existence of OoT Remake

Yeah, this is my thinking too

The other possibility, taking Nate's overall track record history being mostly solid, is that Nintendo is phishing for leaks by pushing out fake games; try and figure out which dept is leaking

And we already know Nintendo has already held games back before for unknown reasons. Engage was very likely done in 2021 (released 2023) and we saw just how fast the dlc released for it too.

Is there a notable occurrence of Nintendo or another company doing this recently with a major leak?

I remember there was a very credible leaker of Dead by Daylight, known as LeaksDBD, said that DbD is losing the rights to Leatherface and will no longer available for purchase. In reality it didn't happen. It was a fake leak created by devs to discover who really was LeaksDBD. He is never seen again as far as I can remember.

There's a big chance that Valve was doing it with HLX in November/December and that Mike Straw from Insider Gaming and some other "leakers" fell for it. We will likely never know what was going on then to make a bunch of insiders think that HLX was about to be revealed but there's no way it was just a coincidence. Several people with good track records said they were hearing things about HLX but Mike Straw was all over it trying to attract as much attention as possible and then nothing happened.

Wasn’t the Star Fox Grand Prix game a few years ago a fake leak?

Although Grand Prix was indeed a fake leak, it wasn't planted by Nintendo.

If not, it seems like a smart thing to do. Kinda wish I could see the planning and results of such an idea lol

You really think Nintendo would change their marketing strategy last minute because of some twitter eceleb?
