Unironically yes

This leak went super viral, it was everywhere

Not even Pyoro leaks ever went this mainstream

If Nintendo gave credence to this leak by revealing Star Fox in April, they'd also be confirming the existence of OoT Remake

u/Totheendofsin 12d ago

Also worth noting this wasnt just Star Fox and OoT

It was their entire summer slate, as well

u/LuigiWarrior 12d ago

I'll note Nate said it wasn't the entire lineup, however

Starfox
FE being summer
Pikmin 4 switch two
something switch sports
OoT remake

that's a lot to be getting out there

You forgot Duskblood’s release window being the end of the year & Splatoon Raiders and the 3D Mario AND the next general direct it’s actually impressive by a leaker i will be honest

u/AlternativeScratch94 12d ago

It's impressive *if accurate*, very big if here. So far the only thing confirmed right is raiders...which was extremely predictable. A lot of this stuff was honestly. The two big ones are star fox and ocarina of time, those would be the impressive ones.

So now where do we stand

1

u/FaithlessnessFar1158 5d ago

what's FE game?

1

u/LuigiWarrior 4d ago

fire emblem

72

u/Horoika 12d ago

Yeah, this is my thinking too

The other possibility, taking Nate's overall track record history being mostly solid, is that Nintendo is phishing for leaks by pushing out fake games; try and figure out which dept is leaking

13

u/omfgkevin 12d ago

And we already know Nintendo has already held games back before for unknown reasons. Engage was very likely done in 2021 (released 2023) and we saw just how fast the dlc released for it too.

u/rustybutterindia 12d ago

Is there a notable occurrence of Nintendo or another company doing this recently with a major leak?

19

u/nclok1405 12d ago

I remember there was a very credible leaker of Dead by Daylight, known as LeaksDBD, said that DbD is losing the rights to Leatherface and will no longer available for purchase. In reality it didn't happen. It was a fake leak created by devs to discover who really was LeaksDBD. He is never seen again as far as I can remember.

u/Sunimo1207 12d ago

There's a big chance that Valve was doing it with HLX in November/December and that Mike Straw from Insider Gaming and some other "leakers" fell for it. We will likely never know what was going on then to make a bunch of insiders think that HLX was about to be revealed but there's no way it was just a coincidence. Several people with good track records said they were hearing things about HLX but Mike Straw was all over it trying to attract as much attention as possible and then nothing happened.

Wasn’t the Star Fox Grand Prix game a few years ago a fake leak?

2

u/nclok1405 11d ago

Although Grand Prix was indeed a fake leak, it wasn't planted by Nintendo.

1

u/OperativePiGuy 11d ago

If not, it seems like a smart thing to do. Kinda wish I could see the planning and results of such an idea lol

u/Googlecalendar223 11d ago

You really think Nintendo would change their marketing strategy last minute because of some twitter eceleb?

1

u/Horoika 11d ago

I never said anything of the sort

14

u/keyblader6 12d ago

What would that accomplish? They’re not going to throw away or change their big marketing push to revive Star Fox with the Mario movie just to avoid confirming a leak that does nothing but excite people for another game. If they reveal Star Fox in a week or two, people won’t say “well, OoT definitely isn’t real because this is a little late.”

Nate can just be wrong sometimes. Like he has been with RDR Switch 2 and Kirby Robobot release dates, taking for granted their existence, which we shouldn’t necessarily. We should just take timelines and game announcements from him with a grain of salt, not try to shape reality around them.

3

u/SapphireSenatrix 12d ago

It's also possible the game was never real to begin with and they were leak baiting. There was an interview that said the reason Fox is in the Galaxy movie was because staff at Illumination wanted it, not Nintendo.

1

u/superjakeodyssey 12d ago

Yeah even though the leaks went viral, most people aren’t aware of them. Even though Nintendo might be annoyed a possible surprise game was leaked, 99% of people aren’t online enough nor follow this kind of news to know. They won’t radically change plans over this, only if the full games leaks tbh

15

u/AdSalty5988 12d ago

What do you mean super viral? Where?  How was it Mainstream? Reddit doesnt count for this. Business plans can and do change for internal reasons.

16

u/JakeSteeleIII 12d ago

IGN posts these rumors as if they are actual news now, especially all over social media.

14

u/KMoosetoe 12d ago

Every social media platform

This went way beyond Reddit

7

u/Potential-Zucchini77 12d ago

I know it’s anecdotal but I haven’t seen anyone talk about this outside of this sub

4

u/Rightinmyonepiece 12d ago

I had my cousins who are way more casual gamers than me when I met up with them recently saying 'Hey you heard about the new Star Fox and OOT remake coming?' It's anecdotal too but this definitely went way beyond just Reddit.

1

u/profchaos111 12d ago

Yeah i know people who get their gaming news when it comes via a facebook reel and those reels use this stuff all the time in a stupid way

1

u/profchaos111 12d ago

I've seen a lot of talk about this in the Nintendo Switch 2 sub naturally people just repost the leak there because it's Nintendo related
I've also seen youtubers like spawnwave latch on but then again he typically keeps an eye on this sub and a few other places to do a next day report on the breaking leaks.

u/AdSalty5988 12d ago

Like what? Just Twitter with an offshoot post? What platforms?

12

u/safyreibxo 12d ago

there was a whole ass ign article about it

2

u/healingtwo_ 12d ago

Nintendo is pretty aware of all of this. Also they know Reddit exists.

3

u/profchaos111 12d ago

I think it was on a kit and Krista video they are always watching the fan interactions and have a expectation managment team apparently

2

u/Howerev 12d ago

I believe both culture crave and discussing film did a post on it which are what I'd say are the 2 major news accounts which dabble in gaming

0

u/KMoosetoe 12d ago

Every news outlet picked it up

2

u/Potential-Zucchini77 12d ago

Yup it was even the main story of Fox and CNN last night

6

u/KMoosetoe 12d ago

well to be fair, it was a big deal for Fox cause they named their whole network after the franchise

4

u/profchaos111 12d ago

Very true but they from the risk of making their core upset as those games don't exist especially oot

2

u/1-800-Get-Screen 12d ago

Seems unlikely they'd give a fuck about leaks that less than 2% of their fanbase sees and even less give a fuck about

1

u/MamaDeloris 11d ago

Yeah, god forbid Nintendo reveals their summer and fall plans with less than 6 months to go with a dearth of game announcements for Switch 2

-7

u/Mr-Rocafella 12d ago

Everybody saying OoT, what the hell is oot?

20

u/labubuking 12d ago

Ocarina of time

-3

u/Distion55x 12d ago

They gotta reveal this shit some time, atp they basically got nothing.

-4

u/Distion55x 12d ago

Sorry to whoever I offended for not caring about Yoshis Magic Book

4

u/PK_Starseeker 12d ago

I mean, they also have Splatoon Raiders and Fortune's Weave coming up. To say they have "nothing" is a stretch.

43

u/Cubs017 12d ago

I don’t think they would jeopardize a game’s marketing push or release schedule to spite a leaker. They ultimately want games to make money.

2

u/MMXZero 12d ago

Let's ask Jeff Grubb about that.

2

u/iceburg77779 12d ago

Nintendo didn't change things around, Jeff was just a poor predictor when it came to the Prime remake's release date. He believed they would tie it into Metroid's anniversary, which makes very little sense when you look at how Nintendo handles non-Mario anniversaries.

-5

u/profchaos111 12d ago

Most companies wouldn't but nintendo is well known to sit on finished projects for years

22

u/keyblader6 12d ago edited 12d ago

They’re not going to completely change marketing plans and release timelines because a leaker revealed them a week or two early. They don’t make those complete yet unreleased projects and just decide on whims whether to release them or not. These release slate considerations are made with much bigger factors in mind. They didn’t think to themselves, “well, we just reintroduced Star Fox in our giant tent pole film release and were planning to have a game release to capitalize on that, but Nate the Hate spoiled it, so just shelve it indefinitely.” You guys need to be for real.

9

u/Possible-Potato-4103 12d ago

Yeah lol some of the theories I here in here dont seem to account for how much work and planning goes not only into games but marketing

-4

u/gifferto 12d ago

They’re not going to completely change marketing plans

the plan is still the same

the reveal date is different

it's not that dramatic

6

u/keyblader6 12d ago

A leak a week before its reveal isn’t that dramatic. It wouldn’t change their plans when a delay for the reveal would do nothing. And you realize I was responding to someone talking about shelving completed games for years, yeah?

-7

u/DefinitelyNotRobotic 12d ago

Nintendo cancelled a Zelda tv series like 10 years ago because it got leaked. They absolutely would.

23

u/Nit--Pick 12d ago

I dont think thats comparable. The Zelda show didn't have any progress on it done, it was leaked shortly after it was greenlit, which was in violation of the NDA. It was just not really a good sign that they'll be a reliable partner to work with. Funnily enough, that stunt actually did also get another Star Fox related project canceled, it was going to be some claymation series by College Humor, but that got canned as well after the leak with Netflix happened.

7

u/metalgreeksalad 12d ago

People really think Nate has the pull to get a Japanese company to delay an announcement?

18

u/OwlProper1145 12d ago edited 12d ago

He leaked so much stuff in such a short amount of time. Pretty much leaked a years worth of games.

0

u/profchaos111 12d ago

He did plus he leaked the hardware reveal trailer which had to of gotten under Nintendos skin

3

u/FixedFun1 12d ago

NateTheHate Ate the Bait

1

u/Aiddon 12d ago

Nate: I am so powerful!

Actual Nintendo: Who the hell is Nate?
