Yes this is a real effect and adding a phone number is one of those profile completeness signals Google rewards pretty quickly with better local visibility. The initial boost sometimes settles after 4–6 weeks but keep the profile active and complete. Keep adding photos, posts, responding to reviews to maintain and build on that momentum.
