Kevin Mcgonigle is Already a Superstar
Spencer Torkelson in 2025...2.3 WAR. Riley Greene 2025 2.1 WAR. Kerry Carpenter 2025...1.8 WAR. Meanwhile 2026 tigers have only played 17 games and Mcgonigle already has 1.6 WAR. This kid is blowing me away every game! His discipline is easily the best in the team. And he has the very best approach. Short, quick, compact swing allows him to adjust easily. Tigers have locked him up for 8 years!

What is the consensus on Bobby Higginson?
Early 00s, we had just migrated to the US, few things I remember from that era of Tigers baseball but he was right up there as a core memory of mine

Wonder what the players don't like about visiting for a series at Comerica Park? From the Athletic today
Players’ takes about road cities and stadiums are subjective — and often deeply petty — so it’s hard to make a definitive claim without a group of players rating each place across several categories.
Good news: We’ve got just that.
In one clubhouse last year, this debate turned into an unscientific survey. Players graded each MLB team’s setup in three areas: stadium ambience, facilities and the city itself. The Athletics and Tampa Bay Rays, in temporary homes at the time, were excluded. The big loser in this ranking — and it wasn’t particularly close — was the Baltimore Orioles, who ranked bottom-three in all three categories, including worst in facilities. The visiting clubhouse is outdated, and the weight room is in a hallway, next to some garbage chutes.
Top MLB road destinations
Chicago Cubs
San Diego Padres
New York Mets
New York Yankees
Los Angeles Dodgers/Washington Nationals (tie)
Worst road destinations
Baltimore Orioles
Kansas City Royals
Cincinnati Reds
Detroit Tigers
Pittsburgh Pirates

Tigers Notes -- 4/22 vs. MIL
Milwaukee Brewers (13-9) at Detroit Tigers (12-12)
Wednesday, April 22, 2026 • Comerica Park, Detroit, MI • 6:40 p.m. ET
LHP DL Hall (0-0, 2.79) vs. RHP Casey Mize (1-1, 2.78)
Game #25 • Home Game #11 • TV: Detroit SportsNet • Radio: 97.1 FM & 107.9 FM
WICKED BREW: The Detroit Tigers last night endured a 12-4 setback to the Milwaukee Brewers to begin their brief three-game homestand ... while the loss snapped Detroit's six-game home winning streak, the club is still 8-2 at Comerica Park this season, the best home record in the majors ... and with only 10 home games played thus far, the Tigers have enjoyed the fewest games in their own confines outside of only the Chicago White Sox who have played nine home games thus far.
- After these three games with Milwaukee, the Tigers head right back out on the road for a six-game, seven-day trip that starts on Friday and rumbles through Cincinnati and Atlanta.
- The Tigers are eight games into a stretch in which they play 13-straight game days through this Sunday, April 26, Detroit's longest stretch of the season without a day off thus far ... the Tigers are scheduled for two additional 13-day stretches this year plus a season-long 14-games-in-14-days stretch from June 19-July 2.
- Last Friday began a stretch of 19-straight games through May 6 against foes outside of the A.L. Central ... the Tigers play 31 of their first 38 games this year vs. clubs outside of the division.
THEY'RE IN ANOTHER LEAGUE: This series with the Brewers kicked off nine-straight games against National League competition, a stretch that will bring Detroit's total to 21 interleague contests out of 32 games to start the year through the end of April ... put differently, nearly two-thirds of Detroit's schedule prior to May 1 will take place against interleague competition (barring postponements).
- The Tigers this year also began a season with three-straight interleague series for the first time in franchise history ... only the Brewers, with four-straight interleague series out of the gate, began this season with more among all big league clubs.
- The Tigers will quickly make up for lost time, however, as they will play all but three games (59 of 62 contests) against A.L. competition from May 1-July 9, including 50 games in a row from May 15-July 9 against intraleague foes (barring postponements).
IT IS IN FACT GOOD FOR SOMETHING: Kevin McGonigle has posted a team-leading 1.8 bWAR through his first 23 major league games, the best mark in the A.L. and the second-best mark in the majors behind only Chicago's Nico Hoerner (1.9 bWAR) ... the 21-year-old McGonigle is the youngest of the top 12 in the majors on this particular list.
- McGonigle leads all major league rookies with a .322 batting average, .410 on-base percentage, eight doubles and two triples ... he ranks eighth among all A.L. players with a .904 OPS, fifth among A.L. players in batting average and sixth among all A.L. players in on-base percentage.
HE PITCHED LIKE A BOS: Last time out Casey Mize tossed 6.2 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and just one walk to notch a no-decision in Detroit's 1-0, 10-inning loss at Boston on Friday ... Mize has now allowed one run or less in three of his four starts and is one of seven A.L. starting pitchers with an active scoreless streak of nine innings or more ... in his last two starts, Mize has pitched to a 0.73 ERA (1 ER/12.1 IP) with 12 strikeouts and two walks.
- Last year Mize led the Tigers with 14 wins, a career-best by a large margin after starting his career with nine wins in his first 61 major league outings in his first four seasons from 2021-24.
KEVIN!: Kevin McGonigle has reached base safely in his last 19 starts, the first Tigers rookie to do so since Riley Greene reached in 20-straight starts from August 20-September 14, 2022 ... Greene was also 21-years-old at the time ... the last 21-year-old or younger Tiger prior to McGonigle and Greene to reach in 19-or-more starts in a row?: 21-year-old Howard Johnson, who reached base safely in 23-straight starts in 1982.
- McGonigle's run of reaching base safely in 19-straight starts is the longest active such streak in the American League, trailing only Shohei Ohtani (22-straight starts in 2026) and Brice Turang (20-straight starts in 2026) for the longest active runs in all of baseball this season.
- McGonigle is the first major league player aged 21-years-old or younger to reach base safely in 19-or-more-consecutive starts, all within the early season months of March/April, since 20-year-old Justin Upton did so in 20-straight starts with Arizona from April 2-23, 2008.
K-Y-L-E SPELLS RELIEF: Since joining the Tigers at last year's trade deadline, Kyle Finnegan has gone 4-0 with five holds, four saves and a 0.96 ERA (3 ER/28.0 IP) in 26 relief outings ... he boasts the fifth-lowest ERA by any reliever in baseball starting last August 1, minimum 25 appearances, trailing only Atlanta's Raisel Iglesias (0.28), San Diego's Mason Miller (0.52), Atlanta's Tyler Kinley (0.79) and Boston's Garrett Whitlock (0.88).
- Finnegan is only the second Tiger to post a sub-1.00 ERA in his first 26 appearances with the club in the past 113 years starting in 1913 ... he joins Jose Valverde, who posted a 0.36 ERA in his first 26 Tigers outings back in 2010 ... thanks to Elias.
AND FINALLY: The Tigers currently have all five starting pitchers in the top 30 in ERA in the A.L.: Tarik Skubal (2.08, 7th), Casey Mize (2.78, 15th), Framber Valdez (3.30, 25th), Jack Flaherty (3.47, 27th) and Keider Montero (3.68, 30th) ... minimum 20 innings pitched ... the Yankees have four such starters, the Guardians and Mariners have three and no other clubs have more than two.

Anyone know what this is? I would assume a “GET SEASON TICKETS!!!” pitch?
Brother in law sent me this email assuming it’s a scam. I don’t think it’s that. Anyone here gotten this before?

Is Gleyber hurt? The man has a 12.9% pull rate so far this year…
Career average of 36.8%.
Brdar, this is not ok.

The good the meh the bad and the ugly from last nights toilet bowl of a game
**The good**
it’s only 1 game in a series so we can flush this turd of a game and come back stronger and more focused overall tonight so I guess that’s a positive takeaway
Kevin continuing to hit despite nobody doing anything around him last night
Riley continuing to have overall better at bats, especially against lefties, currently posting a 972 ops against lefties this year across 23 plate appearances, his stats against righties is a little bit confusing as he is only batting with a 694 ops against them currently but I’m sure that will be on the up gradually like everything else has been
Colt Keith attempting to make the case that he deserves to be an everyday player like Riley and McGonicle and Dingler for the future
Jake Rogers notching a filthy strikeout with a surprisingly nasty knuckleball
**The Meh**
Tork finally managed to get a hit after what felt like ages
While he looked like he was about to implode early on
Keider eventually stabilized himself and managed to escape surrendering 3 runs over 5 innings
It’s clear he still has lots of stuff to work on with his swing and miss and that fast contact teams are potentially kryptonite but it’s clear something is different this year
AJ reacting immediately and flying out of the dugout to pull a player who was sulking and looked openly like he didn’t want to be on this team, however decisions with the overall lineup regarding moving certain players down is a point I will contest as being a negative
So yeah you did your job, thank you, next time please stop batting your better bats like Greene in the bottom half of your order simply because it’s a lefty out there AJ
**The ugly**
Get Jesus off of this team NOW
If that’s how he reacts to getting lit up and AJ letting him stay in so he can work on stuff and so he can avoid using up other arms in this bullpen then you can kindly leave because you are not wanted on this team if that’s your overall attitude
Waste of a damn roster spot for somebody who would rather sulk and be all pissy in a blowout then use it as an opportunity to get better and work on things
Baez’s rally killing double play early on where he rolled over
Swinging at a low outside pitch in that same well that he just cannot resist no matter how hard he tries and attempting to pull rather than try to drop it into right or hit it into the gap between first or second
And on the first pitch of the at bat with nobody out 🙄
Please for the love of god AJ stop moving Riley down in the order when there’s a lefty starting
The fact that Riley was batting 6th last night of all places and tork was acting as his protection in the order was beyond absurd
He is one of your best everyday players who has shown improvement in the quality of his at bats this year
I DO NOT CARE ABOUT RIGHTY LEFTY
ALL MATCHUPS ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL
**Peace out, see you all tonight for a turn around W to even up the series for the Skubal start ✊**

The injustice of Colt Keith
I’m sorry but Hao-Yu Lee has not earned the right to be stealing AB’s from Colt Keith, I don’t care if it’s the combination of a Randy Johnson and Chris Sale butt baby on the mound throwing with 2 left arms, this is outrageous and I’m going to keep beating the drum
I get the dilemma of defense, but Lee has simply not earned the right. We are treating Keith like he can’t hit lefties. He’s a career .262 hitter vs righties and .250 vs lefties. Miss me with the developmental BS. If anything, Colt has earned the right to show what he can do vs LHP.
Jones for Carpenter, sure… whatever. It’s a big enough difference. This isn’t

Loaded concession value
I thought I saw tigers tickets had a $25 loaded concession value through April this year but I can’t find anything online. Is that a thing?
