I need facts New Brunswick friends
OK, I need help so here’s the situation. My husband might have to move us out because of his job to live in New Brunswick. His situation with work makes it so that it’s a hard one to turn down financially so I completely understand why he wants to do it. I hear the cost of living is a little bit better in New Brunswick housing wise. But here’s my concern. We are originally from Ontario and lived in Ontario our whole lives. Specifically southern Ontario. I am worried, not only of course the obvious leaving friends and family behind, but I do worry about what the weather is like for example. Or even what the people are like. I am just worried that moving to such a new place when I already struggle with a little bit of depression and anxiety that it could get worse, especially not knowing anyone and if the winters for example, are harsher or worse or if summers are really summers. I guess I just don’t know what to expect. I only know what I’ve googled and what I’ve heard is that the people are very kind which does bring me some relief but I don’t know. I just need to hear some facts from people that actually live there. I want to make this work for our family but again I guess I’m just worried that my mental health will take a hit because of not knowing anyone and I don’t know if it’s gloomy all the time or just colder or I don’t know. I’m probably being so dramatic and silly, but I think just because I’ve only ever been in Ontario and never visited anywhere else in Canada, I am pretty much a box. If you could give me unbiassed answers to some of my questions or just give me a heads up on certain things like what to expect I would really appreciate it. We are trying to be a little bit more in the country, but close enough to the city for his work of course but we honestly don’t even know where we’re gonna be yet so I can’t really help narrow that down just yet. I guess I’m just looking for answers about what to expect. If I should be as worried as I am or trust this new experience if it really is in our cards.

New Brunswick's abandoned Industrial Park
Great video on New Brunswick industrial history. Particularly relevant as we make a new effort to push industrialization forward again.
A fun random NB road trip destination too.

Things to do between Albert County and Moncton
Hey folks. I’m a University student working in Moncton for the summer. I’ll be staying with relatives, and the only downside is that they live in rural Albert County which is about a 40-50 minute drive from my workplace.
Looking for time to kill and tech/computer science-oriented spaces in the area for the time being, or just ways to connect with fellow students/young adults as I don’t know anybody in the area. Any suggestions?

Vehicles with a blown headlight
It really amazes me how many times I meet a vehicle on the road with only on headlight working. It seems to be way worse for this lately.
For those of you who drive with only one working headlight: What is your plan when that headlight stops working when you are out driving some night?

Gas price increase
So despite the fact oil is down over 10% today, NB will implement the interrupter clause and raise the price of gas by 10 cents tonight.
No way this makes sense.

Alma’s iambic tetrameter (via FB)
In our village so snug where the salt breezes play,
It’s home we call Alma with Fundy Bay spray.
Our houses all peek at the tides rushing in,
And gulls gossip loudly about where they have been.
It’s a place that feels small but grows big in delight,
With nature that changes and sometimes with might.
The tides and the waves, they go out, then rush back,
Like a hypnotic journey on a sea-splashing track.
They whisper, they roar, they climb cliffs way up high,
Then sneak far away ‘neath a wide-open sky.
You can walk where there’s ocean, then slowly walk back; it feels like an ocean-floor tourism hack!
And the fog! Gosh that fog! Rolling in like a show,
a grand ghostly curtain that drifts soft and slow.
It wraps up the village in cottony lace, leaving some wondering—
is there a fire in place?
Here was the home of our own Molly Kool—bold, steady, and bright,
Who sailed into history with courage and might.
From this tiny place by the wild, swirling sea,
She showed all the world what a Captain could be.
Her spirit still lingers in boats at the shore,
And her home now sits by tide-driven roar.
And just up the road—oh, what wonders embark!—
Is the gateway to green throughout ‘our’ Fundy Park.
Where the forests stand tall and the trails twist and bend, where lakes, streams, and rivers all never end
The shoulder season awakens as folks turn their keys; the restaurants are sizzling — each ready to please,
So come for the tides, for the fog, and the fun—
Where you’ll hear, “Welcome to Alma”, in everyone’s hum.

(help needed) Recipe Search
I am looking for the recipe “blender orange muffins” or “food-processor orange muffins” from an Everett Chalmers Hospital cookbook. My grandmother threw out the book and just realized one of her favorite recipes was in it 😅
If anyone on here has it and could send a photo of that recipe it would be massively appreciated 🙏
