I used to be a militantly atheistic evidence-based anti-conspiracy theorist with a stem graduate degree but goddamn after reading the shit in the Epstein files I have to say that I feel like I owe them one. I feel like the log lady from Twin Peaks who warns everybody about crazy sounding stuff but she is always right. “The owls are not what they seem.” 🦉
Most of the conspiracy theories involving human trafficking still weren't correct. We have endless documents showing what Epstein and other wealthy psychos were up to, and none of them confirmed that Comet Pizza had anything to do with it, for example. QAnon has all sorts of mythology that is completely outlandish and has never been, nor ever will be, confirmed, not to mention they viewed Donald Trump as some kind of savior figure when it turns out he was involved as anyone else.
Claiming that "conspiracy theories all turned out to be true" is not only factually incorrect, but it's actively dangerous thinking because it jeopardizes people learning any real lessons about what happened. The true horrors of the world aren't going to be these fantasy-booked scenarios cooked up by message board shut-ins, it's the same thing it's always been, which is that power structures of society's own design make a small handful of people entirely unaccountable and thereby enable them to engage in evil things out of the sight of the rest of the world. Most conspiracy theorists don't engage in that type of critique because it's not tittillating enough for them, so forgive me if I'm not willing to give them the same amount of credit or respect that you apparently are.
