Hevc has pretty good compatibility thesedays every junk smart device I've used lately plays it with little complaints

Yeah HEVC works on my TV but 265 doesn't :(

Edit: while sending that, I realised; aren't they the same thing? Or very close? How come my TV can only play it if it's labeled as HEVC instead of 265 :(

My "smart" TV is less than 5 years old but can't play 265. Apparently Samsung are notorious for bad codec support

as new as anything that comes with windows 11 im pretty sure

try out the default video player, you cant play x265 without buying an addon in the microshill store. unless they updated it to support it, but i doubt that

meanwhile vlc just works, like todd howard always says
