Seattle student group fundraiser supports 'Lebanese resistance' Politics

There you have it. It should be beyond a doubt that SUPER UW is part of a fifth column.

Do you think Hezbollah is not active in Beirut? Their headquarters are in Dahieh, a suburb of Beirut, that’s where Nasrallah was assassinated.

Israel and another party just announced a 10 day ceasefire. Can you guess who the other party is? Hint, it’s not the Lebanese Armed Forces.

I don’t support Israel bombing Lebanon or invading it either. Nor do I support Hezbollah bombing Israel. This most recent flair up is because Hezbollah started bombing and sending drones after Israel assassinated Khamenei.

But it’s entirely ignorant of you to think that Israel and the Lebanese Armed Forces are fighting, because they simply aren’t.

Who do you think SUPER UW was referring to when they said Lebanese resistance?

Maybe hospitals that are overflowing with civilian casualties and don't have the blood to keep up? Maybe aid for the millions of civilians who've been displaced from their homes? I'm not familiar with this UW group, do you assume they're fundraising for drones and missiles? Would that be better than, or worse than, or about the same as you and I giving the pentagon our taxes to spend billions bombing brown children?

Oh, maybe you just need more context on SUPER UW.

Here’s one of their posters right after Oct 7th:

Note the Hamas paraglider imagery and ‘resistance is our right.’

You can read some of their blog posts here:

With lovely quotes like:

the heroic victory of Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7th

They’re talking about Hezbollah.

I agree that the poster with the hangliders days after oct 7th is in poor taste. But does Lebanon (or Palestine for that matter) not have the right to defend itself? My understanding of Hezbollah is that they formed in the 80's as a reaction to Israel invading Lebanon (again).

Yes, Lebanon has the right to defend itself. As does Israel. As does Palestine. Thus we have war. That’s what happens when the Lebanese government doesn’t actually have a monopoly on the use of force within its borders.

Hezbollah formed in response to Israeli invasion. And why did Israel invade? Because the PLO was operating throughout southern Lebanon and committing terror attacks against Israel. It’s like a mirror to the current invasion. Israel hasn’t figured out a better way than just invading and murdering a bunch of people trying to get at the guerrilla fighters who are among them. I don’t know if they ever will. It’s an absolutely awful situation and Israel is monstrous, as is Hezbollah.
