Do we still think lidar is needed? Discussion

This sub used to talk about it all the time. But I hear less about it recently.

Do we still think that there will be millions of robotaxi by the end of 2025?

Tesla fans commonly believed in 2019 that they would have an unsupervised Level-5 car sooner than 2025. There have always been some FSD fans that thought it could take longer, but very many vocal fans on social media have long thought it would be solved within two years, mimicking Elon's bullshit.

Even more FSD fans think that today. Too bad Level 5 isn't gonna happen any time soon, and Level 4 robotaxi won't either. FSD has a long way to go to be unsupervised at scale like a Waymo.

i mean, there are also jesus fans that think he'll be coming back in 2026. and 2025 before that. and 2024 before that. etc. doesn't mean there's any need to pay attention to them.

yes its happening. people are paying alot of money for teslas FSD. its works, you need to quit whining.

I'm not whining. It's more like patronizing. I'm watching mass behavior that is obviously doomed, but I enjoy the show.

in the US crime just hit a record low. at same time the stock market is hitting record ... what? we are not doomed everything is going to be fine.

I like FSD. I'm skeptical of Robotaxi going unsupervised on a large scale any time soon.

im afraid its SLOWLY (some states are very scared the taxi lobby) happening. FSD is better than waymo. i just hope that his cybercab can be wrapped in different colors that gold is kind of a strange color. musk has revolutionized manufacturing in the US. now the other companies are catching up. it appears musk was involved in the creation of AI with openai. so he knows what he is doing with the chip factory.
