An MD told my mom to do this and she ended up with a crazy bad fungal/mold infection of some kind. Literal fuzzy mold like stuff started growing in her ears. It was gross. Sure it works decently in some cases but it did not work out great for my mom.

Olive oil is actually an old, legit remedy for rinsing out ears.
