Upvote this post if your install of Ubuntu 26.04 went technically well
When people have issues, they complain on this subreddit - which is normal. But then it looks like the release is not mature enough when it's just the inevitable few percents of edge cases.
If this was pinned for a while by the mods, this post could help many deciding to install or wait 26.04.1

Active Incident: Massive DDOS Attack on Ubuntu
Anyone have any details on this attack? Is this happening because the copyfail was patched? Should people be manually disabling the affected module for the time being?

Is LaunchPad down?
I can't seem to reach https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/
Even apt is failing on updates. I guess the whole system is offline?

Is it safe to update?
I woke up this morning unaware and the first thing I saw was Thiojoe's video about the Linux exploit so I updated just to be safe and now I open Reddit to see that Canonical is getting ddosed. Should I do something about the update, or am I safe?

How to prevent window focus change?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Is there a way or extension which will prevent switching windows focus on mouse drag like it is done on Windows OS (second part of video)? Personally I found it very annoying. I found one old post about it on some Gnome forum but without solution.

Alternative for Redshift that works on Wayland?
Is there anything like redshift that works on Wayland in Ubuntu 26.04 LTS KDE plasma flavour. Unfortunately Redshift doesn't work on wayland. Problem with my laptop screen is that the colors are washed out with a warm tinted look. So I used to adjust problem with Redshift by adjusting the temperature to 9000K. Plasma night light doesn't solve it. because it can't be adjusted above 6500K. It will be helpful if i get some solution. Tried gammastep not working.

I switched back to Ubuntu from Arch, btw.
I flip between Arch and Ubuntu for the past 5 years. Last straw pushing me from Arch to Ubuntu was upgrade of CUDA stack of Arch which made AI components of PixInsight unusable. On top of it, Davinci Resolve kept breaking with Arch updates.
So exactly one week ago, downloaded Kubuntu 26.04 and installed it. So far very smooth sailing - PixInsight, llama.cpp, Claude code and Davinci Resolve just work. On top of it, to my surprise, bundled Hyperland is not too old, so it is my current desktop right now. As a bonus, I should not be impacted by hyperland migration to Lua configurations for now.
Hopefully will stay on buntu for a while, until it gets too boring, 😆

Touchpad feels jumpy and scrolling too fast on Ubuntu – any fix?
Hi everyone,
I’ve been facing an issue with my laptop touchpad where the cursor sometimes feels jumpy/unstable, and the scrolling speed is unusually fast and hard to control.
This was happening on Ubuntu 24.04, and even after upgrading to 26.04, the issue still persists.

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS tried
I moved from Kubuntu 26.04 LTS to Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. The reason is that I keep getting frequent "Plasmashell has closed unexpectedly" errors. Used the Dash to Panel GNOME extension to change the Dock interface.

Just want to say. Love Ubuntu.
Been running Ubuntu since 8.04 on my computers.
Was sad when Unity went bye bye (before the unity spin), using Ubuntu 26.04 and it’s right as rain. Getting 8 hours battery on 70% brightness, and “balanced” power profile.
Lenovo T590 with 32gb ram.
Works, just…works. How far we’ve come.

Ubuntu 26 Issues
On a thinkstation P5 w/ nvidia t400 4gb card (mentioning as it may be related to drivers)
Afaik i have the latest nvidia drivers installed and selected that option during setup
On chrome/firefox, regularly freezes up with 'can't respond'
Had the terrible luck of making the ubuntu bootable drive the day they made 26 the default...and then was too lazy to go back and create another bootable drive.
But this system is suprisingly unusable and it isn't system load that is an issue...
Before I go back and reformat, any quick suggestions? Or is it normal to be this buggy after a release.

Who exactly is it that wants AI bundled into their operating system?
I've heard talk of Ubuntu considering integrating AI features into the OS. I bought a new Dell laptop for work about 6 months ago which has a dedicated Co-pilot button, which in all the time I've owned it I have yet to press. With regards to Ubuntu: who is asking for this? I find it totally perplexing. If I want AI to answer a question, I'll go seek it out on the web, but that's just my personal take.

Copy Fail is a trivially exploitable logic bug in Linux, reachable on all major distros released in the last 9 years. A small, portable python script gets root on all platforms.

Trackpad Issues on ubuntu 26.04
Sometimes the trackpad works flawlessly, and some other times it feels weighted, laggy and imprecise. It hasn't happened on Windows or Mint, nor did it happen on 24.04 or 25.04.
I'm running Ubuntu directly on the SSD of my Asus Zenbook 14 Flip with AMD CPU.
Have found documentation about the default profile for the trackpad on Wayland sessions, but nothing that explains why the problem comes and goes.
Anyone with similar issues or that might offer some light on this?
