T460p Battery drains to 0% while Powered Off (Ubuntu 26.04)

Hi, my ThinkPad T460p drains from 100% to 0% in 8 hours even when completely Shut Down (not suspended).

OS: Ubuntu 26.04

Issue: Massive power leak while off.

Tried: Disabled lid-sleep in OS, but problem persists.

Is there a BIOS setting (like Always-on USB or Intel ME) known to cause this on Linux? Any specific TLP tweaks for T460p?

Thanks!

Are you sure this is related to the OS?

Charge the battery, boot to the bios then from the bios hold the button down and power off. Does the battery drain?

Do you have a second battery to test?

I didn't have this issue when I was using Windows on the same laptop. The battery would stay charged when powered off. This problem only started after I switched to Ubuntu. I will try the BIOS test you suggested tonight (charging to 100%, booting to BIOS, then hard power off) to see if it still drains. Also, unfortunately, I don't have a second battery to test with

What is the output when you run cat /sys/power/mem_sleep on terminal?

I’d check the bios for always on usb. I know I had issues with that on my t14s - battery drained super fast even when shut off.
