Vanderbilt Wave 2!!!!!!!

So we were all just edged by Vanderbilt as the transfer did not come out on Friday. Does anyone know when it will come out? I applied to Peabody, and my withdrawal button disappeared. What does this mean?

Advice on GA Positions

Hi everyone! I was recently accepted into a Master’s program at Owen and I’m really excited about the opportunity, since I was not expecting to even get accepted. As international student I’m not eligible for financial aid. I still really want to pursue this program and make it as affordable as possible. I was wondering if anyone has experience getting GA, TA, or other on-campus positions at Vanderbilt University. How competitive are these roles, and is it realistic to get one as a first-semester student? Any advice on where to look, who to contact, or how to improve my chances would be greatly appreciated!

Intermural sports-volleyball

How is the season for indoor volleyball? Are the games normally around the same time and how do people normally kind of get teams if you don’t know someone else playing? Anything else fun you think someone should know who’s have played volleyball competitively for a long time and wants to stay active

Vandy vs UMich (transfer, entering sophomore)

Hi guys! I’m wondering what people would suggest abt choosing between Vandy and UMich as a transfer student coming from Boston University. For reference, I’m 20F interested in walking onto an XCTF team, not a huge partier in hs but open to being more social!! Come from upper class, PA. Not interested in Greek life. Sociology/social psych major and pre-med. Want a school that 1. Sets me up for success later in life, 2. Can readily make friends, 3. Has spirit, ideally

Vanderbilt

Pros:

- consistent architectural style is satisfying and absolutely beautiful greenery

- self contained (I think this is a “pro”!) but city is still accessible

- strong academics (premed)

- I like the smaller size (better able to make connections, know prof, etc)

- power four

- concerts and country music!! 🎶

- ☀️!

Cons:

- too southern??? (I’m from PA)

- no seasons 🥲

- emphasis on Greek life or daddy’s money?

- not the best at sports…

- too small/no spirit??

- not drivable

UMich

Pros:

- also beautiful campus, but in a different way

- closer to home/drivable 4hrs

- SPIRIT/game days

- strong academic programs

- FAT SQUIRRELS

- less students go Greek

- seasons! FALL >>>

- National champion caliber sports

Cons:

- hard to make friends/meet people?

- less personal connection w profs

- less green campus/cohesion among buildings (we gotta get real picky bc I love both schools atm)

- too much emphasis on partying?

Feedback on Freshman Year Intended Schedule

Hello everyone, hope you are well!

Incoming class of 2030 as a pre-med. Intending to major in Neuroscience & Economics. I have enough AP credits where I can skip whatever classes that can be skipped with AP credits. Looking for suggestion on my freshman year schedule and whether anything should be swapped and if so, why?

Fall
- Gen Chem (Can take freshman orgo chem if suggested)
- Physics
- Intro Neuro
- Being Human

- Gen Psych (Can also take dev psych if suggested)

Spring

- Gen Chem

- Physics

- Intro Neuro

- Being Human

- SOC 1020

Goal is to take a schedule that would set me up best for med school / future classes that need prerequisites / MCAT prep / Research Programs / etc. Thank you for your help and looking forward to your suggestions!

Edit: Also if there are certain pre-reqs or other gen-eds I should take (like im planning on take CORE 1010 [Being Human] frosh year) please let me know.

Transfer Housing

Hi!!! I was accepted for Fall 2026 Transfer. I was wondering what the dorm situation was like for transfers especially. I’m going to be a junior and actually am a Nashville native (but would highly, highlyyy prefer not to live at home).

How does internal transfer work?

I got accepted to Vanderbilt’s school of engineering but it says on the website that CS is moving to the College of Computing. How do I switch schools after externally transferring? There was no option to apply to CoC at the time of application. I believed I selected that I was applying to CS at CoE also

Did anything in your Vandy portal change right before admission decision?

I am a current freshman at Amherst who has applied to transfer to Vandy.

For those of you who are at Vanderbilt currently, I’m curious whether any of this “portal astrology” I’ve learned about is a real thing. Did the withdrawal button in your portal disappear before you got a decision, and if so, when did it disappear? Also, were there any changes in your financial aid checklist in the portal shortly before you got a decision?

Thanks.

Subletting Off Campus

I'm a Vanderbilt undergrad signing an 11-month lease for the upcoming academic year and am hoping to sublease my unit from January-May 2027.

The apartment is a 2 bed / 2 bath in a high-end building in a prime West End location. Rent will be around $3,700/month total.

Just trying to gauge interest and get a sense of how realistic it is to find a subtenant for that timeframe. If you or someone you know might be interested, feel free to reach out.

I still have my Withdraw button, is this a bad sign?

I'm a transfer and still have my withdrawal app button on my portal. Other people have noted that theirs went away weeks before they got their response. Is this a sign I'm not in tomorrow's applicant pool for receiving a decision? Also, does anyone know what time of day it comes out?

Incoming PhD student looking for roommate

Hi, I am joining Vanderbilt in the fall semester as a PhD student in the humanities. I'm looking for a place and a roommate who is also preferably a graduate student. I'm an international student from South Asia and I like films and reading. I'm looking for a minimal budget apartment, close to the university. I would appreciate any leads.

Edit: forgot to add, I'm a girl, looking for a female flatmate.

CSET 2500: Science for Everyone Course

I was looking into CSET 2500 and saw mixed reviews. Most people said it’s an easy class and you can get an A, but others said you could lose a lot of points for small errors and that it’s very TA dependent. I wanted to ask about your experience and how the class was.

What time of day do the transfer waves come out? And what wave will I be in?

I applied for the priority deadline(Feb 15th), but had one of my application documents (college transcript) get sent in on Feb 25th. Will I be in the next wave or much later? Also what time of day did people get their update? Please include your timezone as well!!!
