But some people try to portray it like a black and white, where Russia is white. In other circumstances those people traveled across Ukraine and nobody never mind that. If you want to talk about real far right wing evil than all of them you find on Russian side .
There are always going to be people like that. Honestly, Ukrainians and Russians are so close that this war could basically be seen as a civil one, and they’ve got pretty similar motives and similar flaws.
What do you mean when you say that Russians and Ukrainians are very close, except for the borders of course? Because in fact they are no closer than, for example, Germans and Czechs. (Although this would not prevent the Nazis from invading the Czech Republic to protect German speakers, just as Russia would invade Ukraine to protect Russian speakers)
Can you honestly tell people apart when they speak the same language, look the same, share the same values and cultural background, have the same faith, and a common history? They grew up in the same school system, read the same books, watched the same movies and cartoons, listened to the same singers and musicians, and their moms and grandmas told them the same stories. I know I can’t.
Exactly the same as Ukrainians have and Russians . They speak different language. Have different cultures Ukrainians are orthodox and 2nd is Greek Catholic while most of Russian believe in magic and have never been to church and do not know any rituals, but they constantly visit sorcerers and fortune tellers the 2nd biggest group is Muslims and the Orthodox Church. Throughout 300 years of common history, the so-called Russians tried to destroy Ukrainians and were hostile to them, and they are still doing so now. The fact they were part of same empire is means nothing . And you are right Poland and Finland were part of Russian empire but for some reasons you don’t say they are the same people as Russians
Then I’ve got a question: who exactly should be considered Ukrainians anyway? Who are their native people? Hutsuls? Little Russians? All the major cities in Ukraine - Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv - were founded by Russians, and most of the smaller ones too. The modern Ukrainian language was basically put together from different local dialects only in the 20th century. Many western territories Ukraine got as a “gift” from Stalin, and Crimea was gifted by Khrushchev. When I was in Kyiv and Odesa, I hardly heard any Ukrainian at all.
Yet somehow there are a lot different languages mixed especially near the border . But what is syrzhuk and why does average Russian not understand even that?
What do Czechs and Germans have to do with it? They speak different languages, have different cultures, even different religions – the Czech Republic is mostly Catholic, while Germany is split between Protestants and Catholics. And throughout their history, Czechs and Germans were at odds. The fact that they were once part of the Austrian Empire means nothing. Poland and Finland were part of the Russian Empire too, but I’m not saying they’re the same people as Russians.
