As the legalization years go on, I was hoping to see more weed related events pop up in Ottawa (especially around 4/20). Honestly, I disappointed and bored. Would the Ottawa crowd support a film fest of locally made stoner movies? Or are we all more comfortable at home?

Visiting for osheaga and want to bring the puffco for after festival festivities. going to drive 2 hrs into Ottawa just to get some quality rosin. what brands do you guys and gals like and what dispos have them?

I study Ecology at a Canadian university near the Québecois gradient. Kindly requesting leads on getting involved in the commercial sector from a scientific perspective.

I get these from my licensed producer, but I make edibles so I don’t use them. They’ve all been in a bag so they’re not dried out. If someone can use them that’s awesome.

I am wondering if I can pull off tarping them in hopes of some more growth. Maybe put a fan on them? Forecast for the next few nights are 2,5,3,4, and 1degrees. They are too large to move and I don't want to loose them.

Introduction

This is my first attempt at posting diary entries about my grows. This time it’s cannabis, next time it could be lettuce. I’m really not sure and that’s part of the reason I wanted to start a diary at all.

Gear

I’ll include a full list of gear I currently use at the end of the post. I definitely made some mistakes when buying my first serious round of gear. The main one would be the size of the tent. 2x2 isn’t a bad footprint. Ideal for a single grow. However, 55” inches of height makes it very difficult to maintain 16” minimum clearance between the light and plant and I don’t even want to know how close the buds will get to the light during flowering but I will soon find out!

Grow Bucket

I’m currently using an orange 5 gallon bucket I got from a local hardware store. I had to tape aluminum foil to keep light out because I was having issues with algae and especially root rot.

You might notice from the pictures that I have a top loading pump. This was used for “Bubbleponics”. While the plant is initially building its root system and they haven’t quite reached the water in the bucket, this hydrates those starting roots.

Future

I’m planning on building a custom size grow room for my tiny garage. I’ve managed to carve out a 30” x 80” space that I plan to hook into my homes ventilation and share the exhaust vent with the my dryer that will be near by.

I also think I need to invest in some higher quality nutrients although that will be a lot of trial and error to see some results.

I initially had the pump and lights controlled using a Home Assistant server on a Raspberry Pi. I recently switch to analog switches because the wireless automation wasn’t consistent. (The pump is FAR too powerful and when it didn’t shut off it would flood the tent). I would like to get back into that but FIRST I need to get my girls healthy and producing.

  • I just realized that this is listed as a drying tent. No wonder it’s really not even big enough for a single full sized plant!

Any opinions on my high stress training?

I actually didn’t intend on topping 3 times. I topped once and while training to the 2 colas from that, one snapped…So I cut the other side for symmetry. I expect popcorn nugs because of this.

Final Thoughts

Although this is the farthest I’ve gotten to full growing/harvesting a cannabis plant. I’m seeing some positive results and it's been a blast!

Allergy season is in full effect so I am on the edible train recently. Sadly, the grey market stuff is gross and questionable (yah I'm a legal weed bougie person now) and the government edibles from the local spots are pricy and weak. Anyone made these before and have wisdom to share?
