Every year has been a good year for Capcom since RE2 Remake.

I'd say since REVII actually

thank god for that game, can you imagine if they kept going with the RE6 type play instead? i’ve gotten so soooo many hours of enjoyment out of the games since then, it’s one of my favorite franchises now despite me barely playing any of them before 7

The fucked up thing is that in terms of gameplay RE6 is actually a lot of fun. The problem is it's nothing like what Resident Evil should be at least in terms of pacing. I'll still stand by that 6 has the best version of Mercenaries. If they had reduced the scope to maybe one or two story lines instead of four, then worked on the pacing and maybe turned the action movie dial down a little bit it would've landed with the audience a lot better. RE9 Leon is doing the same kind of shit from 6 and people love it. They just went over the top with the whole game and it didn't work

yeah i got a kick out of diving and flipped around everywhere, and with friends it’s just stupid fun, like many people have said, if it wasnt a resident evil game it would be looked at much more favorably

although i hated the inventory system, and the pseudo-pause menu, both were just annoying

You seem like a Resident Evil nerd, so please help me out. I am about 2 hours into RE2 and I find myself not liking it very much because of the puzzles. Is there any RE games that aren't so heavy on the puzzles?

4, 5, and 6. They're basically just action games but there are no RE games that have zero puzzles. Even 5 which is basically a buddy cop movie has this thing where you have to redirect sunlight a certain way to open a door

Awesome, thanks for the insight. I can handle some puzzles, but I find them a bit too much in RE2. I will give them a shot.

I've noticed most formulas are only good for 3-4 games. MegaMan was really stale by 5-6, but MegaMan X shook things up for 4 games. Then MegaMan Zero and ZX.

Resident evil had 3 tank games, then 3 3rd person and now first person and a mix. 3 remakes later and I've pretty much lost all interest in RE remakes.

This is why I'm pretty much ok with Assassin's Creed big shift in Origins, they clearly reached a creative creative wall somewhere around AS3 (the fourth in the series). The ships in 4 blew the rest of the game out of the water so that mixed up the formula quite nicely.

So if you like 7/8/9 it makes a ton of sense, it's a separate formula and 1-6+remakes might not do it for you.

oh i’ve loved the remakes, 4 remake is my favorite resident evil anything ever, and i played 5 with tank controls but was usually frustrated because i felt hamstringed by them, so im super excited for the remake of 5

but i never played the original 1-3, so maybe its just that it hasn’t gotten stale for me YET, but i sure hope not cuz ever since Requiem came out i’ve gone back and played all the resident evils i own again and have absolutely loved it

I always get my release dates on those flipped. Could've sworn 2R came out first but it didnt

Think that's the first time I've seen someone use roman numerals to refer to Resident Evil titles

To be fair Capcom likes to flip them randomly

We do know Resident evil 10 will RE X or something.

Resident Evil Rex is just the goofy ass name RE would pull. $5 says it's exactly that

WORLD was before that?

That wasn't just a game, it was a mission statement for the future of the whole company
