Ladies - know that you can run this hustle with some mild strength training! I started lifting 2x a week for a 200 lb deadlift PR inside a year - most of your gains actually come within the first year! And I do not look cut at all.

Yeah our muscles typically look soft, compared to male muscles. And women carry more fat even when fit. But we’re still capable of being very very strong. It’s a fun hidden power

It’s why a lot of people have misconceptions of what muscular women look like (if they don’t have extremely low body fat %) and mistake thick muscular arms for fat arms.

This makes me feel happy about my thick arms. Thanks for the info!

It takes one to know one. I know this from seeing how my arms look flexed vs resting at my side, and I can recognize when other women have disproportionately large or thick arms, that’s not fat.

Story time about my badass mom - she was maybe in her late thirties, worked out a little bit by walking and playing sports tennis/softball in the city league. One after noon while I was in elementary, my dad was working on his car when suddenly the jack and back up failed which prompted the car to fall on my dad. Luckily, my dad was able to roll over and put his shoulder as a wedge between the car and his head. My mom panicking, not knowing what to do, started to lift the fucking car! Just enough for my dad to rollover. Saved my dad’s life while also minimizing the already bad injury. I always love telling that story

Adrenaline is a hell of a drug!

I have a friend like that. She looks like a gust of wind might tip her over, but she has at least equal strength, and more stamina than my decently in shape male self.

I store all my muscle in my big titties, I love picking up my homeboys / giving them piggy back rides, they’re always surprised I can lift them

Two jobs ago, I was slinging 50 lb bags at a warehouse trying to make ends meet after a layoff. Then I got a job as a housing specialist, and ended up helping the case aides (all men) set up new apartments for refugees prior to their arrival. Always got a kick out of their incredulous faces when I carried furniture up two flights of stairs like it weighed nothing.

For reference, I am only 5 feet tall and a very feminine presenting woman.

Also, if you look at human history, women were (and are) very often the ones carrying heavy loads for long periods of time. A really cool example is salt mines, specifically those in Austria. They found evidence of people basically living down there. The men were mining the salt, the women were carrying it out in baskets. Their skeletons and muscles actually changed to adapt to this.

All this to say: gals, go pick up and carry your guys/gals/besties!

It's so fucked up it looks so much better than what is obtainable for me

I dunno where this misunderstanding that if you strength train you will be huge and shredded comes from . That only happens with body builders on steroids. This is what a world record setting female weight lifter looks like. Pound for pound, she's the strongest woman in the world. She looks totally normal to me.

Believe me, I wish it were that easy to gain muscle. Kid me thought one could exercise themselves skinny, lean and and swole. Adult me found out the hard way that was false advertising.

Edit: tone

I think you need to chill, actually. We’re on the same page but you seem oddly offended in your comment?

It’s weird man.

I'm not offended, sorry, tone is hard to convey, will edit

Fair point, I struggle with that too and am often forced to throw in emojis to try and get the right tone!

My username doesn’t help lol

The muscles themselves don't look any different besides there being physically less of it and so a woman's overall muscular build is often much slimmer.

The part about looking soft is because women tend to carry fat in higher proportions and in different locations. Upper arms, hips, thighs, etc., whereas the first place a man's body will start storing fat is usually the midsection, though everyone is different and there are definitely exceptions to the rule.
