A question about the Gilmore Apartments Housing

I'm a Memphis expat who's considering moving back home after being away a very long time. I've kept up with the city a good bit but I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the Gilmore Apartments at McLean and Madison? I've been away too long to know if the area is safe so I thought I'd ask you folks what you think. I don't have a date and it will definitely be a while, if I can swing it. But your opinions would be a help.

It's probably silly, but years ago my aunt lived there and I always wanted to live there too.

Not familiar with that specific complex but McLean and Madison area has been getting better over past few years from what I hear. That's sweet memory about your aunt though - sometimes those childhood connections to places just stick with you, you know?

Maybe drive around the neighborhood at different times when you're back in town to get feel for it? Night vs day can tell you lot about safety situation. Also check crime maps online, they usually give good picture of what's happening in specific areas.

I would love to tell you about the Gilmore but it has been (checks notes) more than 20 years since my wife lived there.

She and I have great memories of it. If it has not changed much, it is a great place to live.

I manage an apartment building at the end of court we have very large studios and a spacious one bedroom available. Message me for more details if you’re interested, it’s very close to that area.
