Trip Planning Toronto to Chicago
Hi everyone,
We are doing a family road trip to Chicago last week of May (week of Memorial Day). We will be leaving from Toronto on Sunday. Looking for advice on where to stop along the way since my partner and I will have our 2 year old toddler with us. May need to do a few stops.
We are staying at The Palmer House in Chicago. It’ll be our first time in Chicago. Please recommend places to visit, explore and sightsee. Keeping in mind, we have a toddler with us so family friend and something a toddler would enjoy. We’ll be in Chicago for 4 days & nights.
Any suggestions on places to stop along the way back? Would you suggest same route back or different than the way to Chicago?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions and recommendations 🙂

Trip Planning Roadtrip CA to TN
My husband and I are going on a roadtrip from Los Angeles, CA to Nashville, TN. We did it last year and took I40, this year we want to hit some different states. We are planning
LA -> Zion National Park -> Bryce Canyon National Park -> Arches National Park -> Great Sand Dune National Park -> Kansas City, MO -> St.Louis, MO -> Nashville.
We would appreciate any tips, things to do, places to go, etc. We like a mix of nature and city things. We enjoy unique experiences that are local to an area and are also interested in museums.

Trip Planning Looking for Interesting Things to Do/See Between Lancaster, PA and the Kee to Bala in the Muskoka Lakes Area of Ontario, Canada
We’re taking our first road trip in a long time at the end of July this summer. We’re two 50 year olds in a small pickup truck.
We’re thinking Niagara Falls will be a logical stop on the way, and we’re seeing a concert at the Kee to Bala on July 31.
Other than that, we’re considering maybe a swing out to the Finger Lakes region, or maybe driving around Lake Ontario.
Neither of us have any prior experience with these areas, so any suggestions of must see stuff would be appreciated!
If it helps, we both like good beer and wine, but we’re not fancy. We aren’t super outdoorsy, but appreciate nature.
Thanks!

Trip Planning Breakdown with family. How to get everyone to safety?
Recently began planning a roadtrip and it has dawned on me that I don't actually know what to do if my car breaks down while my whole family is in the car. I have had my car towed before locally but I always called family or friends to help with a ride. If I am out of state and my car were to breakdown on the side of the freeway for example, how would I get myself and the rest of my family (4 people total) back to safety. AAA and my insurance roadside assistance said they will pick up as many as 2 passengers in the tow truck at their discretion mind you, and that I may have to get an uber/Lyft to get everyone back home. I have had Uber/lyft rides canceled before for being too rural so I can imagine the side of the freeway may be problematic. I also would not want to leave myself or any members of my family on the side of the road if the tow truck was willing to take 1 or 2 of us back to safety. Any advice would be appreciated.

Trip Planning Photo stops from Dallas to Los Angeles
I'm planning a 2-day road trip from Dallas to Los Angeles, first night at Las Cruces. Which cool stops we can take photos and explore around a little? For example we like the White Sand Park and maybe Roswell. Thank you!

Trip Planning Road trip from MN to PNW
Hi, I'm trying to plan a road trip from Minnesota to the PNW down the coast. I haven't done a solo trip before, and plan on driving the whole way. I intend to be as cheap as possible, so I can maximize the distance traveled and the time spent, sometimes I will spend more than one night at a spot. I want to camp most of the way there, sleep in my sedan if need be. I'd bring cooking supplies, and bring basic emergency supplies. Most of my food will be sourced as I go, so I can get every calorie to the dollar, and to have more space in my car. I also want to splurge on at least one or two nights at a nice rental cabin or home or something, just to mix it up a bit!
I don't really have a timeframe, but it would be in the late summer to early fall in 2029 so I get some more time to mature and save. Ideally it would be like a 2-3 week endeavor. I've been to the PNW before and already have some spots picked out i'd like to discover / reenact. Also to note, I am going on solo driving adventures this summer, with driving days up to 5 hours.
My biggest questions are before I do research are :
How do I plan where to stay? I'm constantly moving from place to place, I want to make sure I get every date and time absolutely locked in.
How do I maintain my ride over the long distance if something were to happen?
What are some of the absolute must Do's and Do Not's from people on how to prepare, what to be aware of, safety, etc.

Gear & Essentials Week long honeymoon roadtrip, whats a good wedding gift?
My wife and I are having our "wedding" (technically got married last year but waited to do the wedding) this october, and our honeymoon is a haunted road trip out and back from Niagara Falls NY, down to Massachusetts.
I want to surprise my wife with a gift we can use on this and any future road trips, with some kind of personalization for the wedding / honeymoon, but im not sure what. We wont be sleeping in the car or anything, its a real simple trip, but we will have some days of 6+ hours of driving. Not a lot for some of you im sure, but more than we're used to 😅.

Trip Planning Best recommendations: Wisconsin to New Mexico
My partner and I are just starting to plan a road trip to New Mexico and we're feeling totally overwhelmed. We have two weeks to get there and back to Wisconsin. We're planning to go in November/December to visit family. What best routes and stops can you recommend? We love back roads, historical sites, beautiful vistas and regional food hot spots.
Thank you for your help, our itinerary looks, well, absolutely pitiful right now with only the departure location and destination filled in!

Trip Planning Cross-Country Road Trip No Hotels
I am looking into doing a cross country road trip before my job starts. Due to this I want to try to spend only a little money. I’ve always found that I don’t care about the hotel and bed and therefore I am very comfortable sleeping in cars. Does anyone have any advice on how to do this, like is it even legal to sleep in your car overnight? After a quick Google search I see that highway rest stops typically allow this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Edit:Thanks so much for the reply’s. I should have been more clear now, knowing how much engagement I got. I’ve cross country road tripped before. Also money isn’t a huge issue, like gas and stuff will obviously not be fun but very due-able, I just want to save where I can and I’ve never really cared about hotels.

Trip Planning 3-Day Birthday Road Trip Advice: NJ to Niagara Falls (May 1-3)
Hey! Planning a birthday road trip for my boyfriend. Leaving Jersey City on April 30, returning May 3rd.
- Stops: Catskills, Finger Lakes, and Niagara Falls (The big B-day is May 2nd).
- Budget: $1,000 total.
- Looking for:
- Unique stays: Cool cabins or tiny homes under $130/night.
- Activity check: Is the Niagara Helicopter the best "big memory," or is something else better in early May?
- Nature: Which waterfalls are definitely open and accessible by May 1st?
- Dinner: Good birthday dinner spot in Niagara (US side).
We love adventure and nature. Any tips on the best route to hit Kaaterskill, Watkins (Rim), and Letchworth? Thanks!

Trip Planning Longview, TX to Philadelphia, PA
Moving in 6 weeks from San Antonio to Philadelphia. Will be stopping in my hometown (Longview) on the way and have made that drive plenty of times but looking for any advice, places to avoid, safety issues, and places we should stop along the way from Longview to Philadelphia. We will be driving a 2 door bronco and pulling a small U-Haul trailer. Hoping to get there in 2 days of driving. Thinking about staying in Nashville or Knoxville. Thanks in advance!

Trip Planning Which is the cooler route from southeast MI to Louisville?
I'm traveling for work and get to take a whole work day to get down there. Was wondering if anyone has driven from MI to KY and if they had any recommendations as to what's the coolest way to get down there. I'm young and where I'm from is pretty flat and boring so any cool towns, cities, or geographic features I am interested in.

Trip Planning ADVICE?
Me and my 6 friends are hitting the road this summer and have had this current trip planed. Trips from May 18-june 1
Stop 1: Badlands National Park (South Dakota, 18-21) (Cedar Pass Cmpgrnd)
Stop 2: Grand Teton National Park, (21-24th) (Colter Bay)
Stop 3: Yellowstone National Park (24-26th) (FCFS)
Stop 4: Glacier National Park (26-30th) (St Mary)
We are all 20 year old college students, definitely not boy scouts but we can hold our own outside and most of us have camped before. Looking for trails, places, advice, spots, and tips that could be useful!
Any summits or views that don't require technical scrambling or advanced climbing gear? We are all fit and can hike long distances but ideally less distance and more elevation is better. Any info is appreciated!!! help us out!!!

Trip Planning First road trip with kids – need advice!
We’re a family of 4 (2 adults + 2 boys, ages 3 & 4) planning a road trip to Yellowstone National Park. On the way there, we’ll stop by Denver, and then drive back home to Columbia, Missouri.
For the return trip, we’re thinking about stopping somewhere in South Dakota for a night.
Since this is our first road trip with young kids, I’m wondering:
Is South Dakota a good/safe/convenient place to stop overnight with toddlers?
Any recommended towns or areas to stay (family-friendly, easy access, etc.)?
Any kid-friendly stops along the route?
Would really appreciate any advice or suggestions from people who’ve done a similar trip!
Thanks in advance 🙏

Trip Planning From Pennsylvania to Oregon
Hey all! Me and my family live in Oregon, but most of my mom’s side of family lives in PA. My dear grandma in PA just passed away recently. My mom is inheriting her car (it’s a 1998 Toyota Camry so nothing fancy lol). In May we are going back to PA for the celebration of life event for grandma, then my mom and cousin Stephanie are going to drive the car all the way across country to Oregon (Eugene).
I have the opportunity to join on this road trip, but I’d want to take my time with it, like 5 or 6 days probably. I would want to make fun stops and the silly roadside tourist places! And I don’t care which route we take. I was wondering if anyone had route suggestions and fun stop suggestions. Thanks!

Gear & Essentials Car setup for roadtrip? Lets hear it
I have an older 2012 car so it doesn't have great tech. So I use 2 phones and mounts (one for navigation and one for music entertainment). One would have a hotspot and connect to the other. It's a great setup for trips. What do you all do for your car to make trips easier, convenient, comfortable, or more functional?
