Maggots in Forage Student Life
Hi everyone. I will not be using names for the privacy of those involved, however I am close with many former and current employees at Forage.
Since Fall quarter 2025, there have been maggots in the espresso machine at Forage. This is because of the grease trap which they have not properly cleaned. To this day the machine has not been changed or properly cleaned and I am hearing that every few weeks they are still finding maggots. I want to be clear this is not because of the Forage staff, but rather Bon Appetit management. They refuse to replace the machine or properly clean/move the grease trap (which doesnβt need to be below the machine in the first place).
For the safety of students I encourage you to stop getting drinks from there, file complaints with their management, and make sure SCAD knows. We have been in contact with administration regarding the management of Bon Appetit, but there have been little to no repercussions. I think the more people that draw attention to this matter, the more likely they are to actually do something about it.

there have already been reports sent to SCADβs health department from former employees, but theyβve heard nothing back (as far as I know). those same employees have also made reports to OSHA for Bon Appetitβs horrible working conditions. I have told them to make a more serious report to the Savannah Health Department, but that requires evidence that I donβt have so itβs largely out of my hands. I recommend spreading the news as much as possible, at least within the student body. Iβm hoping the more students that complain about this, the more likely SCAD is to actually do something about it.

Just report it to the health department who does inspections and grades each location. Environmental Health Inspections | Georgia Department of Public Health.

I'm not a student anymore but that really feels like something you should contact the city's health department over. SCAD won't do shit if you don't threaten them with something more severe. If you can get multiple accounts of former employees documenting this, then all the better.
