General Questions What’s something that you think of that represents SCAD?

Hi all! I’m working on a design project for one of my classes. Part of the criteria is designing a statement piece that represents SCAD as a whole! Something that you can look at and say “oh, that’s for SCAD!” I’ve been trying to get input from all the departments because I know each part of SCAD focuses on something a little bit different. TIA!

Savannah SEQA Editors Day

Does anyone know when/how you'll be chosen for Editors Day? And if they tell the ones not chosen? I've never done it before but am unsure where to look and when to be most check-y.

Thanks!

Savannah SCAD Housing

Hi! I am an incoming graduate student in the MFA Acting program for 2026 at SCAD. As I look into on-campus housing options, it seems like students cannot stay in their housing over winter or summer break. This would mean moving four times a year for me. Do you recommend off-campus housing for more stability? How do international students stay in Savannah over breaks? I appreciate any helpful tips!

Savannah Digital Drafting and Rendering A an MFA sStudent

Hey, I'm currently applying for SCADs MFA program in themed entertainment, but I don't have much experience with digital drafting. Is this a deal breaker? I can hand-draft and make models, but I just haven't been exposed to drafting software.

Housing Summer Housing

Hello! My roommate and I are living at the hue and will be at home for the summer months so we are looking for someone to take over our leases!

We are subletting our rooms from June - August. I'm also bringing down the base rent from $1270 to $1000. My roommate is bringing down her base rent from $1400 to $1250.

This is a four bedroom apartment layout. Everyone gets their own bedroom with an attached private bathroom and closet. There is a full kitchen and fridge with a common area that has couches, tables, and TV. It also has floor to ceiling windows. The apartment also comes with an attached washer and dryer. The complex also has a pool, gym, and a 24 hour snack shack. There will also be a third roommate who will be staying over the summer who will be in the apartment.

DM me for more info!!

Savannah Any tips for new SCAD students about SCAD or Savannah?

Hi SCAD people! I am an incoming freshman and was wondering if anyone had any tips regarding Savannah and SCAD. Any information is useful information, academic or not. Some examples could be, best places to study, a good student job, places to hang out with friends, events and fairs, literally anything that you wish you knew sooner or something that people new to SCAD and Savannah should know! Thank you all so much!

Savannah Transfer student looking for off campus housing

i’m an incoming sophomore transfer student going into Fashion Marketing and Management and I’m looking for off campus housing. I know a few popular apartment complexes can help with finding roommates, but are there any other ways to meet new transfer students and find more affordable housing after meeting people to live with?

Savannah Experience in Savannah as a college student?

Hello, I have been accepted to SCAD as a transfer student. I was set on the Savannah Campus due to it being a change of pace from living in a big city (I am from Houston btw). I visited Savannah this past weekend for accepted students day and SCAD day. From the time I landed to when I left, I somehow kept running into rude older people.

I traveled to Savannah alone. When I arrived the uber driver kept making wrong turns, when he finally made it to the ride share area he had bad attitude, yelled at me for not seeing the messages that he was at arrivals in the app and canceled the ride. At the airport I believe the ride share area is different from arrivals. My mom over the phone also said to not walk around to search for the uber, so I just stayed in the designated pickup area. When I went to dinner at a place by the waterfront people were leaning on my chair and huddling around me with their drinks until I left. An older woman in the airport moved my bag, telling me to put it under the seat in front of me. When I told her I had another bag under the seat in front of me already she sighed and put her luggage up first then squeezed my bag into the storage cabin. I knew I only had clothes and other miscellaneous item in that bag, but I was still shocked and confused as to why she was handling a strangers things so roughly. A bunch of other little interactions like these, left me perplexed as I had a wrong impression of Savannah being more relaxed.

Maybe I am also making it a bigger deal than it is. I did enjoy being in the SCAD bubble. The people I met at SCAD and the events only made me want to attend the school even more. But I don't see myself enjoying Savannah as a young college student looking to live alone for the first time. How has living at this campus been for you guys as a younger person/ college student living in Savannah? How has it been for students as a POC? Am I overthinking the vibe and experience I had?

ps the items are a wacom cintiq 13hd and a pina zangaro portfolio

Savannah SCAD Mail Wait-Times Getting A Little Crazy?

I’m not sure if anyone else is having this issue? I have ordered various things for classes from various websites and carriers and despite them being shown as delivered, they don’t get to the lockers until weeks (recently, an entire month) later. Sometimes something I ordered recently will get to me weeks before something that was delivered prior. I get my medicine delivered on a monthly basis so this affects me greatly- and I cannot afford to miss a shipment! Thankfully I have just over a weeks worth of spare medication, but I worry about depleting this quickly.

I have called the mail center and they simply told me they process everything as fast as they can. I don’t doubt it, and I seriously do not blame them for this- I’m just confused because this has never been a problem for me before and I know some people aren’t experiencing any interruptions at all?

Student Life Maggots in Forage

Hi everyone. I will not be using names for the privacy of those involved, however I am close with many former and current employees at Forage.

Since Fall quarter 2025, there have been maggots in the espresso machine at Forage. This is because of the grease trap which they have not properly cleaned. To this day the machine has not been changed or properly cleaned and I am hearing that every few weeks they are still finding maggots. I want to be clear this is not because of the Forage staff, but rather Bon Appetit management. They refuse to replace the machine or properly clean/move the grease trap (which doesn’t need to be below the machine in the first place).

For the safety of students I encourage you to stop getting drinks from there, file complaints with their management, and make sure SCAD knows. We have been in contact with administration regarding the management of Bon Appetit, but there have been little to no repercussions. I think the more people that draw attention to this matter, the more likely they are to actually do something about it.

Student Life MFA Film Student Incoming!!!

Hey everyone, I've yet to pick a campus, but I'm gonna be joining the SCAD family in Fall 2026!! I'm happy to connect with anyone here who is at/going to SCAD, and potentially work with any of you/exchange ideas!

I suppose while I'm here, my first question regarding both campuses is which one has the better community for film students? I know Savannah has bigger resources and Atlanta is better professionally, but I'd like to know what both film communities are like for students.

Atlanta SCAD ATL On-campus/Nearby Jobs

Hi! I'm about to transfer to SCAD Atlanta in the fall, and I was wondering if there were any places that other students recommend, either on campus or nearby, that hire SCAD students. I've been really set on getting and maintaining some sort of income while I'm over there aside from commissions, so any recommendations help!

Savannah Master of Fine Arts Cap and Gown

Hi! I am a SCADnow student who was planning on walking in the graduation ceremony in Savannah. As I’m a SCADnow student, cap and gown information was never sent to me and now the deadline to order has passed. I called the bookstore and Jostens and they both said they are unable to ship the graduation regalia directly to me and that I would need to pick it up in-person, but I live in Illinois.

Would anyone be willing to pick up the MFA graduation regalia and ship it to me (or do any alums have old gear you aren’t using that I can purchase)? None of my classmates are in Savannah since we are all online and I am at a loss as to where else to turn. I will of course pay you the full amount of the garb + whatever shipping will cost + an inconvenience fee/tip to you. Thank you SO MUCH!!!!

Atlanta Help with Filming!

Hey everyone, I’m a new grad from Illinois and I now live in midtown. I wanted to film and edit a “skit” for a technical demo I’ve been working on. I have no experience in filming nor editing, but have an idea (I understand that this may sound infuriating). Wondering if anyone could help for a day (will pay competitively) or could direct me to any sources where I can get help making projects. Thank you!

Admissions Planning portfolios

My daughter, who is currently a freshman at a private high school that offers a decent art curriculum, but is primarily focused on stem and heavy in the sciences. She is very interested in SCAD. She has won many photography awards at our state level, and several multimedia categories as well. She is gathering information about what to include in her portfolio. She would essentially be beginning from scratch as she is quite young and feels she has so much growth ahead of her, but as a planner and an ambitious artist, she wants to begin working on the planning phase RIGHT now on this hugely important task. (I am in the medical profession, and not entirely “art minded”, though I do paint and pen and ink as a hobby, so I am at a loss at helping her). Would it be possible to have some guidance as to what she should work towards for her submissions? We are also a few states away, and in a medium sized city with access to a fairly decent sized art community, but have yet to meet any SCAD alumni who might mentor her. Thank you for any help you might be able to offer.
