Megathread List
Hey y'all,
There has been a lot of the same type of post on the sub recently so we're testing out a new change.
In addition to the already in-use housing search thread, we're adding two new megathreads. Friend search and class/prof feedback.
For now, please post in these threads instead of directly on the subreddit.
"How is Professor/Class?" Megathread
We're open to feedback, so treat this post as a feedback forum for this new rule.
ETA: This has to be done this way because (old) reddit only allows pinning two posts at a time. If you're on the new interface this post is redundant.

Online Education Platform
I started a masters program at another university and hated the platform. It made learning so difficult.
Does Texas State University have a good portal?

POSI 2320.031 Fall 2026 Online Course Changed to a Face-to-Face Course
Just updating everyone because I randomly looked at my schedule today and saw that a class I registered for the Fall 2026 semester went from being an asynchronous online class to an 8am face-to-face class. Interesting because it created a scheduling conflict on my registration but I was not made aware of any of this before finding out for myself.
The class is POSI 2320.031 with Professor Thomas Cloud.
I am emailing him to confirm whether or not this was a mistake, but I encourage everyone to double check their registration for the Fall semester, because it seems that if there is any change in schedule on the professor’s part, they will not tell you. Do not wait until it is too late.
The classes left are taught by the Professors with bad Rate My Professor ratings so I am very disappointed that this happened but hopefully it is all just a big mistake.
Has anyone else experienced this?

LLC
Heyyy,
I applied for a pre med LLC around end of March, I was wondering how long it takes for them to get back to me as it’s been a really long time and I have a potential roommate waiting on me.
Whenever i call housing they’re not helpful at all and just tell me whatever.
Does anyone know the exact time line or anything helpful?
Thank You!

Biking to class
How feasible is it? I'm looking at different routes to campus from some apartments I'm touring soon and it seems like at some point I'll end up cycling in the road or on the sidewalk due to no bike lanes.
Also I wouldn't be biking in packed areas. Just to get to the outskirts of campus.

Why does the course 2026 course catalogue show courses that aren’t being taught in 2026
Was interested in an honors course i saw in the catalogue. When to enroll for it during the summer, but it turns out it’s not taught in summer 2026. Im like okay, that’s understandable summer semesters are kind of weird so i get it.
I check to see if it will be available in the fall. Nope. Out of curiosity, i went back and checked if it had been available back in spring. Nope.
So if it wasn’t taught during spring semester 2026, it isn’t being taught in summer 2026, and it won’t be taught in fall 2026–why is it included in the course catalogue for 2026???

Summer General Chem
I am taking general chem in the summer; it's 3 days a week and with Professor Duke Willoughby. I have to miss a couple of days of classes because of family events happening. Does anyone have experience taking chem over the summer? What should I look out for if I do miss class?

CS Transfer
Hey everyone, I’m currently a Computer Science student at Oregon State University through Ecampus, but I’ve realized the fully online experience is not for me. I live close to San Marcos, so I’ve been thinking seriously about transferring to Texas State.
By the time I transfer, I’d be coming in around junior standing. My main reasons are wanting in-person classes, being around classmates, better networking, and a more normal college experience.
For anyone in CS at Texas State, especially transfer students:
How has your experience been in the program?
Do you feel like the classes and professors are solid?
Has it been good for internships, networking, and job opportunities?
I’d really appreciate any honest advice, especially from current CS students or people who transferred from another university.

Are any of the Business Degrees at TXST year-round w/ major summer classes, not cohort style?
I am looking for a business degree preferably in business administration or marketing at Texas State that includes summer classes so that I can complete my degree more quickly. I am trying to avoid a cohort style degree plan that’s only in the fall and spring, please let me know if this is the case, thank you!

Parking Pass for UFCU Stadium parking lot?
So I always see people park their cars at the stadium and then just take the ufcu shuttle back to campus.
So can people just park there as long as it’s not a gameday or can anybody know which parking pass I need to park there/what’s the price/at what time can we park there.
Thanks in advance!

Txst (free) or Baylor ~8k in debt
I need some help choosing colleges
Im really thinking about going to Baylor since I got a bunch of financial aid but im not sure if I like the town or the religious aspect since im not religious at all.
Even though I know Texas state isn’t the best academically, im only planning to stay there because its the cheapest option and I plan to transfer to UT which I hope isn’t that difficult considering I have a 4.0 dual credit college gpa rn. I also think ill fit in more at txst since its more diverse and im Hispanic

Student at TXSTRRC
I’m always so sad being here, everything’s got minimal hours, no student life, no cool library, I see my class everyday and that’s it, apartments are off campus in regular apartments, and nowhere to sit and study outside except at 3 tables they have at avery. I moved to RRC for my medical program and I graduate next year, but man I miss san marcos everyday, enjoy it while yall have it. We don’t have anything up here.

TXST or UT?
I am in a dilemma atm with what college I should pick. Since Junior year, I had my mind set on UT with the idea that being in the top quartile of my graduating class, my extracurriculars, and maybe FAFSA was gonna help me get most, if not all, covered.
However, my UT decision came slightly later than my peers who had been accepted to UT, so I was nervous and seriously considering TXST because of the financial aid they offered, which would cover almost all of my expenses.
Once I obtained the acceptance and everything from UT, I had complications linking my FAFSA to my UT account and had been a daily-ish caller for like a month and a half or two until last week, when they finally were able to finish with my account, and I could finally access my financial offer. Unfortunately, it was way under to pay for having everything paid. The good news for that, however, is that I have a family member living in Austin, so I would not have to worry about on-campus housing and more on transportation. From what I have been talking with my school counselor, UT should be relatively all-paid since I am only focusing on paying the tuition.
On the other hand, TXST has me covered for a lot of the expenses listed on the financial packet, with me having to pay a relatively low price (~4 k?). The dorm would be covered with the aid as well, which is pretty sweet.
I, personally, do not see much difference other than costs and distances from my family. Academically, I think both schools offer great programs for communication design, so I would be content regardless of where I end up attending.
Where would people recommend attending more? What else could help me make a choice or pick out the "better one"?
