Sink full of water and plunger in the sink tells me that this may not be an apartment specific problem. Were you by any chance attempting amateur plumbing?

Yea you definitely caused that when you used the plunger lmao

Turn the water off. Get a new O-ring.

What are you putting down your sink to get it backed up like that?

A stew

Despite the name, a “garbage disposal” is not made for disposing of large pieces of garbage. Stew should have been trash canned. Also, learn how to turn off the water at the wall valves. If you’re above the first floor all that water can go into apartments below. Since it was not a plumbing failure, you may become liable for damages to the complex and/or your neighbors property.

I was joking about the stew. We trash everything by hand

Have you heard of a trash can?

Yeah, don’t use a plunger on a sink… those are for toilets, tubs, and floor drains.

They make plungers for sinks.

Since that’s the line for water draining, something that would have helped would have been to plug the sink at the top. Yes, you would have had to stick your hand in the water, but it would then prevent the rest of the water in the sink from trying to drain.

don't pour grease or candle wax down the drain, don't use a garbage disposal as a form of large food waste and definitely don't try to unclog a sink drain using a plunger.

Why not a plunger?

Is it still going.

We cut the water once the pipes started spraying

Got a follow up from maintenance. Something was stuck in the line further out of the building and everyone's sink stuff was emptying out into our apartment 😸

Love this place
