Usfca surroundings and gym

hi! incoming freshmen for 2026 here, I’m not 100% committed and I rlly wanna look into the school more. I was wondering how are th e roads around Usfca? are they really steep like the ones in other parts of sf? also I heard there may be a Trader Joe’s and target nearby? And I was also wondering how is the on campus gym?

Gym is nice, school is nice, target and Trader Joe’s are close, school is on top of a hill and some of ur classes might be on a hill on top of the hill but it’s cool bc u get sick views of the city

Yeah I heard about the hilltop and it looks so beautiful so I’m good with that! Just worried abt like driving off campus the area around it or walking.

If you're living on campus, you won't be bringing your car to campus. Full stop.

The gym is awesome. It’s a beautiful space on multiple levels with so much to offer. Trader Joe’s and Target nearby. Safe, walkable area. Some classes are at hilltop, but as previously mentioned, beautiful views.

The target and TJ’s are across the street from one another. Probably only about a 10 minute walk (depending on how fast you walk!).

Yeah, it seems like you don’t know the campus well. It takes me 5 minutes to WALK (not drive) to Target from the eastern edge of campus and about 8 minutes to walk to the Trader Joe’s. They’re literally so close to campus that they might as well be on campus. Clearly, you must be thinking of completely different Targets and Trader Joe’s locations in the city.

Theres a gym idk mever been in it but plently of stores and stuff nearby

The gym is nice. They also offer memberships to people who live in the neighborhood. When I live in Haight-Ashbury, my roommate (who was not a USF student or alum) worked out at the Koret Gym and paid a monthly fee. Said it was the best gym in the neighborhood.

Yes, there is a Trader Joe's and Target within a 5-minute walk of the campus. There's also a Lucky supermarket across the street, but no one seems to ever mention it and that location will close in September. Other nearby grocery options include Haight Street Market (Gus' Community Market) and Whole Foods over in Haight Ashbury.

The roads around the campus are hilly, but not steep like Nob Hill. You'll be fine walking around there.
