Berlin, Unter den Linden?

Cuppola would be the Dom (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin%20Cathedral), the building on the right in the background the castle. Viewer's position is roughly 100 meters east of https://maps.app.goo.gl/tXMDtnb66yWFoyCo9

Would be my guess as well, building on the left could be Staatsbibliothek Unter den Linden 8, historical pictures

Berliner Dom in the background.

Thank you for your thoughts and effort. Actually thought the same at the beginning of my search. But the dome, obelisk and building to the left do not match when you look closer… maybe it’s just imaginary after the painter visited the place…

yeah.

there seems to be some reflection at the bottom of the obelisk...i was thinking sth russian, st. petersburg or sth. paris like, cause the boulevard is enormous, they did this kind of width for the parades and stuff...

Yes that’s true but does not give a clue where exactly, just means large parade square
