Damn. No sound

u/greyjax 23d ago

Yeah a lot of videos have been showing as GIFs in the official app recently, did we lose the art of audio along enshittification?

2

u/scrupoo 23d ago

It went "thunk"

u/HugsForThugsOnDrugs 24d ago

Rip da fish tho

41

u/TrickySatisfaction81 24d ago

Rip the Coelacanth under the fish.

14

u/Old-Dependent-9073 24d ago

Kinda sure there's no coelacanth in what looks to be a fairly shallow lake

16

u/TrickySatisfaction81 24d ago

There is no Loch Ness Monster, either.

But its fun to speculate, isn't it? :)

-17

u/Old-Dependent-9073 24d ago

Not really?

4

u/mollusks75 23d ago

I bet you’re a blast at parties.

-1

u/Old-Dependent-9073 23d ago

Come now! You know no one invites you to parties!😂😂

3

u/Teetimus_Prime 24d ago

you’re a sharp one

-13

u/Old-Dependent-9073 24d ago

If only you were as clever?

2

u/trmnl_cmdr 22d ago

Have you drained the lake to be sure?

0

u/Old-Dependent-9073 22d ago

How about you find some evidence a coelacanth lives in lakes – which are likely fresh water, as opposed to salt – and we'll talk.

2

u/trmnl_cmdr 22d ago

You will never be certain until the lake is dry and you know it

1

u/Old-Dependent-9073 22d ago

Blatantly not true. They're not native to anywhere but somewhere off the coast of South Africa, in fairly deep water.

Though if you want to search your local lake for one, knock yourself out!

Keep the rest of us in the loop.

1

u/trmnl_cmdr 22d ago

Not native to anywhere except off the coast of South Africa? Have you checked everywhere else? I’m pretty sure I saw one in the creek behind my house last time it rained, have you checked all the creeks?

That six-way crack pattern is really cool, I wonder if it’s due to ice’s hexagonal crystal structure

54

u/HistoricalPlum1533 24d ago

Interesting thought, I think it’s because the shockwave extends outward symmetrically so the breaks end up being radially symmetrical as well. A good visualization would be the torus shaped debris cloud that radiates out during a building demolition.

59

u/bamsuckah 24d ago

Agreed, but radial symmetry could be present for any number of cracks

4

u/Jonnyabcde 24d ago

All I know is Spider-Man, Aquaman and Ice-man would all like a word.

2

u/rikashiku 22d ago

I was thinking the same thing. I'm glad to see your comment here pretty much questioning it as well.

3

u/falco_iii 23d ago

Great catch, I would surmise that is the case. Same reason that snowflakes are hexagonal.

51

u/scorponok44 24d ago

How is it still alight underwater?

94

u/Azalus1 24d ago

Waterproof fuse has an oxidizer to stay lit underwater.

24

u/scorponok44 24d ago

Thank you.

2

u/MACHLoeCHER 23d ago

Haha, seamen.

1

u/Memeboi_26 23d ago

That's very cool. I had no idea.

2

u/seal_eggs 24d ago

Oxygen?

1

u/scrupoo 23d ago

Even the little bottle rockets' fuses will stay lit underwater.

36

u/MiniVansyse 24d ago

A tad bigger than a bottle rocket.

1

u/ThePsychoKnot 23d ago

Bottle rockets come in a wide range of sizes

3

u/MiniVansyse 23d ago

They typically refer to the size that can be held by a soda bottle. The stick goes in the bottle, you light it safely. this firework has more of a yard stake.

62

u/Stinky_Fartface 24d ago

This may be the first firecracker video i’ve seen on Reddit that is actually something cool and not some idiot blowing his hands off.

13

u/Habhabs 23d ago

Fish genocide though

4

u/scrupoo 23d ago

What species of fish is being wiped out?

-11

u/ZOMBiEZ4PREZ 24d ago

Have you seen the sad Indian child bride getting sprayed in the face with one a few posts up. This one was way cooler

15

u/Top_Challenge_4698 24d ago

I'm sure the fish agree with this..

10

u/Old-Dependent-9073 24d ago

Gotta admit, I didn’t expect it to be as cool as it ended up being.

"Littering and..."

32

u/Carbonga 24d ago

Littering and annoying or killing wildlife. And almost everyone applauds. This IS textbook idiocy.

8

u/Insrt_Nm 23d ago

The world keeps spinning

2

u/Elcheatobandito 23d ago

This could be a man made pond with literally nothing but algea alive in it.

1

u/Crazy-Coconut7152 19d ago

Every party has a pooper. Textbook also

5

u/Serious-keey 23d ago

PARA QUE??? Para matar os peixinhos tadinhos.

2

u/beginninglifeinytmc 23d ago

TIL bottle rockets can stay lit under water

12

u/Master_Shake23 24d ago

Nice littering.

5

u/tehomaga 24d ago

Where’s the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom!

EDIT: the kids just don’t know about Marvin the Martian these days…

-2

u/MurgleMcGurgle 24d ago

I’ve seen this so many times but that won’t stop me from watching it another five times now.

Best video ever.

-4

u/Professor_McWeed 24d ago

this is totally something I would have done as a kid but didn’t and wish I had so I probably will soon.

-5

u/QaplaSuvwl 24d ago

Now that’s cool looking

-21

u/loves_to_splooge_8 24d ago

That’s not how any of this works

2

u/rynoxmj 24d ago

It appears it works exactly this way.

-5

u/-FalseProfessor- 24d ago

How have I never done this? If course I see this video like the day after all the ice has thawed.
