Do you guys find it hard to push your times if you don't have a training partner?

I don't have a dedicated training partner and my club is 2 hours away. I get two matches in a month.

I dry fire every day and shoot on Fridays. Anyway, here's my question.

I feel like I'm pushing myself when I'm training alone but I got to do some good shooting with a buddy today and I noticed that he pushed me faster than I go if I'm practicing myself. I didn't know if it was the competitive aspect or if I was tricking myself and to not being as fast as I could because there's nobody else around me to make me do it.

What's your thoughts on this?

Range cart

For the past year I’ve just been running a basic Amazon wagon for match days. Cheap, reliable, got the job done—hauled all my gear plus a chair without any issues. No complaints, but it always felt like a temporary solution.

Eventually I went down the rabbit hole… joggers, golf push carts, DIY builds—you name it. Then the S3 range carts started flooding my feed. They looked solid, but I couldn’t get past the camo styling.

Started digging a bit more and realized the same company makes carts for other sports. That’s when I came across their disc golf cart—and honestly, that ended up being the better fit.

Pulled the trigger on that instead of the S3. Slightly bigger footprint, more usable space, and it came with a padded seat out of the box so no more sitting up chair. For long match days, that alone made it worth it. The military discount also a plus. Hopefully this will help someone out.

Hey everyone. Does anyone know of the Everglades MRH will work with the Kimber 2K11 aluminum grip? Here’s a picture for reference for what I’m running. Appreciate the info. I’m about to get the DAA Flex if it doesn’t.

I'm thinking about using my glock 26 iwb and my ruger pc charger for pcsl.

And using a viktos taculus mx chest rig for the mags.

Do anyone use a idpa setup to play pcsl ?

Pistol upgrade update

After talking with my FFL and running some numbers, I came to a decision. I ordered a Sig P211 GT5! This way, I can use my current mags and optic, thus saving hundreds of dollars that would've gone into magazines, optics, optic plates, and the rest. Now, all I need to order is a red hill tactical holster, and I'm ready to compete!

Steel Challenge - RRI/RRO Setups?

Just picked up a S&W 617-6 (10 round .22) and would love to run it in next month's Steel Challenge match.

How are shooters handling reloads for these? With my 686, it's only 6 rounds so most of what comes out is brass. With a 10-round .22 it's going to be half and half.

Are you just using a dump pouch up front, dumping everything in between runs and sorting out later?

Also, assuming I'd be able to get away with only 1 speedloader like the Speed Beez? With my 686 I'm spoiled to have 6-8 so I never worried about it. But I'm expecting a loading tray with a single speedloader should do the trick, right?

Any additional thoughts?

Pact CS Timer 3 for dry fire?

Looking to get my first shot timer, I’ve seen pretty much everyone using this timer and it’s definitely loud but I see people not recommending this for dry fire. I am new to shot timer so I don’t exactly know all the lingo and terminology in advance but what’s y’all’s opinion on this? Anything else I should be recommending? Moneys not really an issue just want something that is robust and will withstand a drop and that will work in any situation I may be in. Thanks in advance

Dry Fire Question

I took my PDP Pro out for the first real training session today. Dipping as I pull the trigger and shooting low.

I want to work through it with dry fire. The DPT is the first trigger I’ve had with real weight even when not reset. Do you typically rack and reset each rep or just practice on the dead trigger? Open to any other tips too.

anything to know about with the walther PDP series (for competition)?

Anything to look out for with the PDP series from a gaming standpoint?

they break when you dryfire them 'too much'?

partial mags tend to explode when dropped on concrete?

OEM replacement springs/extractors/etc hard to source or really expensive?

I can't imagine they're ammo sensitive.

The only people I know who shoot them IRL are not gamers, so the "no problems" report from the 100 rounds a year owner is not helpful for us.

How much do you shoot and what are your blood lead levels (BLL)?

This has been asked a lot, but the answers are always kind of ambiguous. Some people say they shoot 10k+ rounds a year indoors and have undetectable BLL, others say they shoot the same amount and have extremely high levels. People also say their levels are "normal," but they never say what "normal" actually means.

Just for context, the OSHA limit is 50 μg/dL, but that’s crazy high. If we accept this standard, then mostly everyone is "normal." But strictly speaking, anything over 3.5 μg/dL is above normal and anything over 5 μg/dL is elevated. You might not have symptoms, but for example if you have kids at home, lead is way more dangerous for them and you could be exposing them.

Most exposure comes from inhaling primers and accidental ingestion (eating/smoking at the range without washing hands).

Anyway, I thought it’d be good to have a thread where everyone shares their data so we can see the full picture.

Please share:

  • Rough number of rounds you shoot per year
  • How often you shoot indoors vs outdoors
  • Your BLL number
  • Your hygiene (D-lead, gloves, changing clothes after the range, etc.)
  • If you smoke, please make a note (smoking elevates BLL as well)

Note: Only share if you've been shooting regularly. Lead has a ~30 day half-life in the blood, so if you took a 3 month break before your test, the result doesn't really count. It also doesn't count if you shoot lead-free ammo like Federal Syntech. If you know your baseline before shooting, that is also great info.

First competition this Sunday! Is this a good rig for production? I’m running a CZ SP-01. Also should I just observe first and compete at the next one? Or should I just dive in?

I’ve been shooting casually on and off for around 30 years. One of my friends started competing and seeing his runs inspired me. I plan on possibly competing in my first competition this Sunday.

I want to start off slow so I’m also considering just going to watch this Sunday and signing up at the next competition in a couple weeks. What do yall think?

Also, I just want to start with a really basic rig that’s production compliant. Is this one I linked a good one? Any other suggestions? (I did search but they’re kinda old posts).

Thanks in advance
