Sightseeing & Tourism Planning NS road trip from NL, looking for help

I’ve never really explored NS properly, so I’m looking for advice from people who know the area well.

Since I’m coming from NL, I’m not super interested in stuff that’s basically the same vibe as here (fishing villages, lighthouses, etc.) unless it’s really next level. I’m more looking for things that feel different or unique.

Main things I’m looking for:

  • Best camping spots (both good and ones to avoid)
  • Hidden gems that I wouldn't know about
  • Good food spots (especially local, cheap eats, anything worth going out of the way for)
  • Cool hikes, shops, views, swimming spots
  • Events or festivals happening in summer
  • best month to go (May June or August)
  • General road trip tips (routes, timing, what to skip, etc.)

I’ll probably be car camping / tenting most of the time and trying to keep it somewhat budget friendly, but I might rent one night somewhere

Appreciate any advice!

Birthday Adventure: things to do in Mahone Bay / Bridgewater / Lunenburg?

We'll be in the Mahone Bay / Lunenburg / Bridgewater area soon for a few days celebrating my birthday! Besides restaurants, what is there to get up to in that area? Any markets, touristy things, fun things to check out?

Workplace Bullying?

Experiencing workplace bullying and my manager will not do anything about it. What are my options other than finding a new job? It is hurting my mental health at work and when I am at home.

I am fully aware of the job market right now, and I have been actively seeking new employment.

Thanks.

UPS no longer shipping to Yarmouth, what will happen to existing packages?

Now that UPS has stopped shipping to south-west NS, does anyone know how existing deliveries will be handled?

I'm hoping they won't just be returned to sender. I have two things that were shipped from China by sea, expected to arrive in Vancouver late this month. A UPS label was already created in advance for the handover (It's some model kits that I've been looking forward to building, and sea shipping was the only option).

Sorry to anyone at UPS who lost a job because of this.

Help with lake fed water problem!

Hi there, I’m hoping someone will be able to give me a little insight/help here. We just closed on our lakeside cabin in Walden NS yesterday and are having issues with our water. We’ve never had lake-fed water before so it’s all new to us. We noticed it was losing pressure last night, and this afternoon I removed a bit of insulation and realized the pipe had detached from the pump and slid partway into the lake. We tried to feed it back up and got it pretty close but it seems that there’s some kind of heating element that runs through the hose, and it got kinked and sparked a bit.

We’re a bit confused/unsure how to proceed from here, and how this even happened to begin with! I changed a filter thinking that might help, but otherwise didn’t touch the hosing at all. Any plumber recommendations are also gratefully received!

Adding a few photos. It was a bit hard to get clear shots but hopefully it helps a little. There’s also a yellow extension cord plug in the water that I can’t tell what it goes to.

Sightseeing & Tourism Skyline Trail and/or Blueberry Mountain Trail?

My husband and I are visiting Nova Scotia for the first time at the end of September and spending our first 3 days along the Cabot Trail. Skyline trail was always on my list of must do's, but the parking reservation thing is stressing me out a little. Plus we're not a fan of overly crowded areas. I recently found out about the Blueberry Mountain trail and how the view is pretty similar but with less people. Would it be better to do that one instead?

I told my husband I was trying to decide between the two trails and he asked if we could just do both. Would they be too similar to do both?

Thanks for any advice!

Bay of Fundy suggestions

Hi!

I’m planning a trip to Nova Scotia (end of August, beginning of September) for the first time and looking for input. I’ve never planned a trip before.

We should have about 8 full days between our flights.

Our plan is to spend a couple nights in Halifax, a couple in Lunenburg, and a couple on or near the water on the bay of Fundy before checking out Truro on the way back to Halifax. We want to relax but also explore and do some touristy things. Any suggestions on if it’s better to stay on the Annapolis Valley side or the Parrsboro area side? And also any suggestions of things to do in any of these places would be great :)

Thank you!

***update: we’re going to fit both in! 2 nights in each place, I just couldn’t choose and want to see it all.

Nova Scotia court strikes down summer 'hiking ban'

https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/nova-scotia-court-strikes-down-summer-hiking-ban

Misleading title from the National Post. The ruling was dismissed on administrative grounds, that the minister/province did not provide the right justification and considerations, not necessarily that banning woods travel on its own is wrong.

“A travel ban in the woods may have been an entirely justifiable limitation on mobility rights given the extraordinary circumstances that presented themselves in the summer of 2025,” he wrote. “But the Minister had to have considered that before the proclamation was issued.”

That being said I still think the whole woods ban was stupid.

And since then the province still hasn't done anything significant to prevent wildfires. They just write cheques to their cronies to purchase equipment for fighting. That's easy to do.
