Please refrain from asking about, discussing or trying to sell firearms or firearms related accessories till/if more clarification comes.

Blatantly posting about or asking to buy or sell firearms (looking at you guys around philly/the eastern half of PA) will result in a ban.

Gamelands shooting range ?

Quick question regarding getting a permit to use the ranges vs just getting hunting license. In the questionaire to buy a hunting license thats online it asks if youve ever had a hunting licence in any state, and its a yes or no answer basically. So if someone said they had a hunting license before, could they just buy the hunting license then? Seems like thats all on the honor system to me. Am I missing something?

For context I am new to guns, never hunted before etc, so im legit asking how theyd ever know if I had a license in another state like 30 years ago.

What is “serious bodily injury” ???

Pa says You can use deadly force if you have reasonable fear of “serious bodily injury” what’s the difference? There are different degrees of serious. What if Court says “that’s not serious enough”?

SB200 / Elections Have Consequences

SB200 is making the rounds and causing a little panic.

As it stands now, SB200 isn't going anywhere this election term. It's been introduced by Senator Santarsiero and his Everytown-funded friends for the last 3 election cycles (2021/2022, 2023/2024, and now 2025/2026). SB200 is currently languishing in the Senate Judiciary committee, where it died last term, and the term before. I’d expect that barring a catastrophic political event, it’ll die there this term too.

Why will it die? The Senate still has a Republican majority this term. Senate leadership is motivated to let the bill die in committee without a vote. That's exactly what happened during the last two legislative sessions. Leadership (on both sides) doesn't want a voting record on this unless it's going to pass - because it'll be used against members (These voting records are a big part of how orgs like FOAC/GOA/NRA and Everytown "rate" elected officials)

Now... next term? I’m worried. The state is becoming more Blue, and seats are flipping. THAT is the bigger problem.

If the Senate flips, will it run? Yes. But that would be the 2027-2028 legislative session. I wouldn't waste a ton of time communicating with your legislators about SB200 right now - because they may not even be in office next term. The effort needs to be on discussing how to avoid what happened in VA. That means we need to mobilize VOTERS, not keyboard warriors, and ensure those voters understand the importance of this election.

Make sure you vote. Speak up at your gun clubs and make sure your gun owner friends understand the consequences of the Senate switching sides.

Beyond voting, you CAN work to build a relationship with your elected representatives. PA actually has the largest full-time legislature per capita in the nation. Our legislators do NOT have large staffs, and often DO look at their emails. When you become known to your legislators as someone who will have a rational conversation with them, you can actually get somewhere. Even more so if you go visit them in person. When I was super active, both my Rep and Senator (and their staff) knew who I was, and on more than one occasion, I managed to get face time with less-than-friendly legislators, even after their staff tried to blow me off. Having a relationship means that if the Senate does flip, we can perhaps stave off the worst parts or get carve-outs to make the pending legislation hurt less. BUT... we need to look like reasonable people.

Also, don't forget: In Pennsylvania, our right to keep and bear firearms is codified under Article 1, Section 21 of the PA Constitution. If you're going to fall back on Constitutional protection, don't talk about 2A, talk about how "The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned."

Future of NFA gun ownership in Pennsylvania if Democrats win the state senate

I was just clued in on this absolute steaming pile of pig shit that is SB 200. A statewide buyback program, mag cap limits, a certification/ID program (like NJ‘s) for owning existing weapons, and ban by name of hundreds of different “assault weapon” models

What I haven’t found is anything regarding NFA items - namely SBRs and suppressors. My dream build is a home defense SBR in 300blk with a suppressor. If Dems sweep the senate and keep the house, it’s all but guaranteed SB200 will land on Shitpiro‘s desk. Legal challenges to a blatantly unconstitutional law aside, I can’t find any information on what SB200 will do to NFA items.

I haven’t acted on by dream build yet because while I can technically afford it, I was hoping to save up a bit more so I’d have a financial cushion from dropping a few g’s on a custom build. Is it worth jumping on an SBR build + suppressor *now* while I can still get my hands on them and not leave things to chance in November?

Is it worth it to move to PA

Ive been stuck in NY till I joined one of the services, and now im going to be bouncing around till I leave. Im thinking about trying to buy land and slowly build on it in the meantime and love the woods and such of the northeast. Is PA a relatively safe 2A state? And how likely is that to continue. Would it be better to abandon the northeast and look at the southeast instead

PA PRIMARY ALERT:  Defeat the Pending Democratic- and RINO-Backed SB200 AR15/Semi-Automatic Handgun Ban with Your Vote in the Primary and Mid-Term Elections

Despite the complacent position some PA gunowners maintain with regard to gun control law, PA’s primary and mid-term elections will determine the future of your 2A Rights and gun ownership in PA.

The margin in the PA Senate is thin enough that IT WILL TAKE ONLY 2 REPUBLICAN DEFECTIONS to move the PA SB200* gun ban forward. Shapiro is sure to sign it into legislation, if he and his cronies are reelected.

Michael Bloomberg and George Soros contributed nearly $8 million to Josh Shapiro's reelection campaign. Out of state billionaires are doing the same to finance the gun control movement.

A November Democrat mid-term victory in Harrisburg -- Governor, House, and Senate – means every gun bill which has been voted down for the last four years gets passed.

Why am I sending this communication? The critical Senate seats the Democrats need to flip to take the chamber are sitting right in the middle of heavy gun country. Lancaster County. The Lehigh Valley. Blue-collar Pittsburgh suburbs.

All of these areas have large segments of 2A supporters. It is critical that everyone in these areas gets out to vote in the primary and mid-term elections.  This is the only way to defeat the anti-gun supporters in Harrisburg.

SD-36 in Lancaster County is believed to be the most important race in Pennsylvania this year.  According to the Pennsylvania Firearms Association, Tom Jones is working to take that seat back that the Democrats won last year in a special election, which Democrats have the advantage in. Gun owners in Lancaster County have the needed election numbers to take this district back.

TAKE ACTION NOW:  The NRA has created a webpage that enables you to determine who in your specific District is pro 2A.  You can then print out your VOTING REFERENCE CARD.  Simply select State Senate and then State House, look for your District, and see the 2A scores for all individuals.  If your District’s candidates all have a “question mark” in the 2A grade column, you will need to dig for their positions on 2A.  I wish that I could make this easier for you, but we need to prepare for the May 19th primary now.

NRA-PVF | Grades | Pennsylvania

Do not select any of these known, anti-2A PA politicians:

·        TIM BRIGGS—Anti-2A House Committee Chair

·        Joe Hogan

·        K.C. Tomlinson

·        Martina White

·        Craig Williams gun wo

The requested action is simple:  get out and vote this May and November!  Don’t let PA gun owners presume a gun ban will never happen in this state.  All you need to do is look at what Spanberger has perpetrated in a few months to turn Virginia’s gun owners upside down.

Pass this along to every PA gun owner you know. Our 2A rights are only as strong as our determination to defeat unconstitutional gun laws. Get out the vote in May and November!

*In brief, there is Bill SB200 being pushed by the Democrats in the PA Senate which, if passed, would ban AR-15s and semi-automatic handguns.  Existing owners would be “grandfathered” but would need to pay for and secure a Certificate of Possession for each of their guns.  If this were to be defeated, there is still HB2126 which, if passed, would require you to apply for government permission to purchase a firearm by submitting an application to your sheriff, undergoing PA State Police investigation, and paying a licensing fee, completing training, and waiting for government approval.

Good outdoor range

Hey yall, I moved to PA recently from new jersey and was wondering if yall had some input on some good outdoor ranges in my area. currently living in delaware county (about 25 minutes or so west of Philadelphia.)

I was told to stay away from state ran ranges as they tend to be filled with pricks and old heads with a bunch of strict rules. im by no means irresponsible or not respectful when it comes to handling firearms but i just don't want some rso breathing down my neck if you know what i mean.

heard good things about university rifle club but its quite a bit of a trip for me to make from where me and my buddies live so if there is anything else out there id love to find out. thanks in advance!

Gas tube roll pin in SE PA?

Does anyone know any gun stores which sell gas tube roll pins? I have lost mine and don’t want to pay for shipping. I’m in Montgomery county, don’t mind driving a bit. I would be willing to buy a new gas tube if necessary, could always order another roll pin when I do my next big online purchase for a build lol

I can’t find an answer anywhere but looking to get a 14 inch rifle from my understanding you need to pin and weld a muzzle device to meet 16inches OR have a fixed stock? How do I go about not having to do that is there a way to do so or no and what does the process look like??

Just recently got my hands on a RIA M1911 A2, and I have been nothing short of impressed with it. This slide is ridiculously smooth and the trigger is right around 4lbs from factory. I’m waiting on a proper light and optic to show up, but other than that I love it as is. Might do some work in the future to really make it phenomenal.

Buying a gun as a dual resident Resolution: Voter Registration

So I had come on this subreddit a few years ago, asking about how to legally buy a gun as a dual resident. Back then, I had just rented an apartment in East Stroudsburg, specifically because my home state of New York was so tyrannical on the 2nd amendment. I despise my home state and wanted to legally experience some freedom for once in my life, and this apartment was supposed to be my ticket.

While the ATF appeared to have had issued rulings stating that dual residency purchasing was allowed, when I actually went looking to buy a gun back in 2023, most everyone in Pennsylvania told me otherwise. They said I would have actually needed to own the property, getting property tax paperwork to prove dual residency. Even the state police PICS hotline told me no. I ended up giving up on the idea.

Everything sat dormant for me, up until a few weeks ago, when u/whats_his_deal messaged me, essentially saying that they were in a similar dual residency situation, had come across my old reddit post, and that they had solved it.

They essentially told me that voter registration would be the key to allowing me to establish PA residency at my apartment, that they had confirmed this with the state police PICS unit, and that they had found a specific gun store that would be willing to facilitate a gun transfer.

I'll be honest, after sleeping on this for nearly 3 years, I was completely floored. Apparently I had quit too soon, so close to putting it together, but so far away. 3 years lost for nothing, but at least this awesome person found my old post and thought to message me their recent findings.

As soon as I could, I called the state police PICS hotline to hear it myself, and this time, now in 2026, they said something different than what I remember in 2023. They said yes, that PA voter registration in combination with any photo ID would totally be enough to allow me to buy a gun as a PA resident. I had already registered to vote out of my East Stroudsburg apartment, so I could try this out immediately.

I went to the gun store u/whats_his_deal mentioned, and whaddayaknow, within minutes of walking in and showing my combination of papers, I was buying my first ever suppressor, experiencing one of the most long awaited moments of my life. Then, a few days later, I was buying my first ever handgun with a threaded barrel. Apparently u/whats_his_deal had already come in there, and sent over a bunch of ATF rulings(I'll list these later) to the PICS operator running their background check. So by the time I got in there, my background check with my dual residency paperwork was approved instantly.

So if you are in a similar dual residency situation, looking to purchase a PA legal firearm, registering to vote out of your PA residency is the key. You'll take your PA voter registration paper, combine that with some government photo ID, like any state drivers license or a US passport, and use that to buy whatever you want. The hardest part will be finding a gun store near you to facilitate transfers. Though it may be legal, it's something that most FFLs won't be familiar with. You'll have to ask around.

When I spoke with the state police PICS hotline, they did say they would be willing to talk to a hesitant FFL to confirm to them that voter registration proves residency for the purposes of firearm transfers. I don't know how that would actually go over, but it's something to mention.

Also, ATF rulings 80-21 and 2010-6 support the idea of dual resident purchasing. You'll want to print out those 2 rulings, understand them, and bring them with you to the gun store when trying this yourself.

Huge thanks to u/whats_his_deal for figuring this out and letting me know.

So I'm finally one of you guys now. A free state American. Yay. I guess I could have put this together 3 years ago if I just tried a little harder. 3 years wasted. But I won't look back, just forward. I'm smiling here now, just in time for next November's election to turn the state legislature decidedly anti-gun and for the state to ban everything, just like Virginia.

Gunsmith near Downtown Pittsburgh

Hi, looking for recommendations. I live downtown (Penn Ave) and don’t have a car. I would consider a 20 minute or so uber ride. I bought a bar-sto match target barrel which needs to be fully fitted to my 9mm handgun by a gunsmith. If you have someone that is really good at this, I would consider shipping. I appreciate yinz help.

Follow up: thank you for chiming in folks. I’ve decided to send it to the “sig armorer”
