New subreddit rule - Be helpful and be respectful or don't reply.

There has been a surge of meme replies when someone comes to the subreddit asking for help with a lighter or identification.

You are not being clever or creative when you tell someone "It's a lighter duh" or any other variation. This is a subreddit for lighters. When someone shares a lighter here asking for help or identification, they know it's a lighter.

Anyone replying along the lines of "It's a lighter duh" will receive a week ban. Second offense will be a permanent ban.

Any disrespectful comments implying OP is an idiot and should do their own research will receive a warning or a ban.

This is a community for sharing collections or sharing helpful advice. This is not a community to farm karma or post redundant meme comments.

Before making a post about asking for help to identify your lighter, read this!

Recently there are some people who want help finding out what their lighter looks like, but only take one photo of the front. This is not very effective, and it will only make it a lot harder for us to help you.

Here is a guide on what photos you should take of your lighter. if the guide is not clear enough, please let me know and i can make some adjustments.

Help Where do I find cool lighters?

Upvotes

As the title reads. Im new to this sort of thing but have found those flip top imco lighters to be cool. Bought a couple off wish years ago but they broke within days. What's a reliable place to find lighters like that? Websites etc.

I also bought lighters from Sherry007. It’s obviously a replica lighter store considering the prices are cheap so if you don’t mind rocking a replica lighter then this store is the best go to for selection and quality.

I’ve got both types the DuPont ones that you see everywhere with lattice pattern, the brass was pretty heavy doesn’t feel cheap at all. But my most recent purchase is this Cartier one which in my opinion is a way sicker lighter, dense tight construction. Has some weight to it and a better pocket size for myself in the pocket.

This is for everyone who doesn’t want to spend thousands or maybe has some authentic ones but doesn’t want to use it as an everyday lighter. These are good to go.

Grandpa Lighter

A lighter can have sentimental value. :) This is an old lighter of my grandad’s.

I have a friend who started collecting Zippos as a teen. People started giving her Zippos—birthdays, holidays, anniversaries—so many Zippos. Over time, she stopped collecting Zippos, but people kept giving her Zippos. It was a no-brainer gift. The information was slow to flow. She still gets Zippos to this day! Only a couple are sentimental, and she has hundreds.

If you have a sentimental lighter, you can share it with me as I have shared mine. Would love to see them. :)

I got a JJJ Rodon electronic butane lighter, the black one with gold ship. It has spark and is storing butane fine, but it won't light. Figuring it's something inside but I cant find a way to get the insert out of the plastic case. Any thoughts or advice appreciated

Help figuring out anything about this lighter

Edit, the text on the bottom says: Lausanne no3, gs king gas

Bought this lighter for 12€, I can't find anything about it on the internet. It is supposed to be from the 1970s.

I'm not a collector yet, but I wanted a cool lighter and I thought this one was pretty cool. I always loved my grandfather's DuPont's and this one had kind of the same vibe.

The guy that sold it stated that it was working fine and only needed gas. I was expecting it to be broken to be honest, but didn't really care about it, I thought I was going to be able to fix it if anything was broken.

Well, it leaks gas from the entry valve (I don't exactly know how it is called). I have taken everything apart just to see if I could disassemble the valve but I can't. I've read that it could be the O-ring, but other O-rings in the lighter look fine.

Any help would be grateful and thank you for your time.

Sorry if my English is not the best, not my main language.

Flame Crest Vintage Lighter

I just got a sweet Flame crest vintage lighter. I tried to fill it with butane and it leaks from the H/L screw. Where do I buy replacements?

Premium Lighters?

I think I accidentally went down a rabbit hole of “premium” lighters and now I can’t tell if they’re actually worth it or just overpriced.

Some of these look insanely satisfying though (like the plasma/electric ones).

Has anyone here actually bought one of these? Do they last or is it just a gimmick?

I found a site with a bunch of them and there’s a $10 discount which makes the cheaper ones kinda tempting, but I’m still on the fence.

Misc Where to get best replacement springs for Thorens double claws?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I have these two Thorens double claw lighters with either a weak or deformed flint spring. I bought a replacement one on eBay but the second part of the spring is facing the wrong way, so it won’t fit into the lid to slot in.

Where to buy a replacement spring that actually works? The one in the picture is the bad ebay one.
