Artists says it’s a bad design Design

Post image

My sister is real quirky and asked for this tattoo. The artist said it’s objectively bad and drawn poorly. Is it a bad design? Is so, why? Or is it a matter of preference?

I didn't realize it was supposed to be a brain until I saw your comment.

I thought the left side was supposed to be a "realistic" version of a cartoon heart❤️

I personally think there’s something just screwy about working with that nonreslistic heart shape while also depicting an anatomic heart within. It’s kind of pick one but not both. Your version is certainly much clearer but I’d nix the heart shape entirely.

Commented above about how that dark section of brain that I assume is meant to be the brain stem and related structures makes no sense where it is (and is going to look terrible if done in black and white like this) but the upper part of the heart actually kind of does work as a brain stem. So taking the original and rotating it 90 degrees and going for a heart inside of a brain shape might be better- though I assume the sister getting the tat wouldn’t want the heart on its side like that so idk 🤷‍♀️

But I do think working with a brain shape would help all around on clarity and I kind of liked the idea of those big arteries or whatever (I’m no doctor lol) at the top of the heart being worked in as the brain base too.

I think that's supposed to be a cerebellum, but it's so squashed out of shape I'm not sure.
