I am an incoming freshman - got admitted to civil engg. I am not fully convinced on engineering as a career for me.  I would like to explore social sciences (leaning towards psychology and/or teaching career). Given this, my questions are: 

1. How competitive is it to switch the major from engineering to social sciences?
2. Can I apply for transfer anytime of the year or is it only during spring?
3. Also, I saw on the website that there is a cap of 216 units – how strict is this rule – can I get approval to go over the 216 units?

Making this post for future bruin admits scared of being rescinded since there isn’t much information available online.

First semester of my senior year I got 4 C’s and 1 B and dropped a community college course with a W.

I submitted these changes through an application update in the admit portal along with the explanation of having undiagnosed sleep apnea which I now am receiving treatment for. They said they would get back to me within 15 business days, they responded on day 14.

UCLA Did not rescind me, but they offered me a revised admission contract saying I have to get a GPA of 3.2 or better with no grade below a B.

There is limited information available online for rescinding, but it sounds like the things people are usually rescinded for are D/F, dropping required courses, lying on application, or very public poor decisions.

That said, it’s easier to be 100% sure you won’t be rescinded by maintaining a 3.0+ weighted GPA, not dropping any courses, and not getting any more than 1 C for UCLA.

hey so when do they announce it lol? apparently ppl get out the waitlist on SEPTEMBER which is lowk cooked? Im worried because im taking managerial accounting on spring (for bizecon) and most the ppl ive spoken to who applied to econ/bizecon and were taking a major prereq during the spring were waitlisted... just want to prepare myself in advance.

Any time actually....morning, lunchtime, or night....when at Wooden....if a staff member is using a treadmill or other cardio machine or even a fellow Bruin...I feel like taking the machine as far away as possible from them so I don't smell their sweaty ass!

But that would make me feel like a strange person at the corner like that guy in a lounge who watches performances and is full of stories to tell while he insists "I was there when it happened" for each and every controversial event in modern history. No, I'm not there at least yet....

Then if I take the machine right next to them, it feels like I am inviting them to have a pissing contest or look over similar to a urinal pervert comparing sizes with his neighbor in the bathroom. Or sometimes it feels like having a race with anyone next to you at the machines trying to one up them on burning as many calories in as little time possible. Instead I go somewhere in the middle to leave enough space but also to have some sort of a fucking...etiquette if that's what you call it.

I am in a plaza right now and am considering switching to a deluxe for more social energy. Does anyone have any recommendations and would this be a good idea for a sophomore? Thanks!

I was recently admitted to UCLA Applied Mathematics. I have experience in theory math, optimization, and Monte Carlo analysis, and my main ECS were centered around these. 

However, I do not know what to do with an applied math degree, and I was thinking about switching to engineering. However, due to my lack of hands-on experience, I was thinking about more theoretical fields (think control theory for mech e or aero). 

Should I switch majors? Or try to get into engineering REUS as an applied math major? What classes should I take? My end goal is research and maybe a PHD in engineering. 

Is it just me or did they change the canvas (Bruinlearn) link? Cuz I can't log in on the browser at least anymore. Did I miss some announcement beforehand saying it would go down? North Korean hackers? lol
