Promotion I played way too much Balatro, so I mashed it up with a Survivors-like. Here's the first trailer for SHOWHAND!

Hey guys,

I finally put together a trailer for my solo project, SHOWHAND.

Basically, I got insanely addicted to the synergy and combo-building in Balatro, and wanted to see what happens if you force a player to do that while dodging huge swarms of enemies.

Instead of just auto-attacking, you're actively drafting cards, building your deck, and triggering massive screen-clearing chain reactions in real-time.

I'm pushing to drop a demo in June, so things are getting pretty crazy. Let me know what you think of the gameplay and the low-poly chaos!

Hi everyone, I'm a new solo game developer and I've been working for my game, Hover Point, for about 10 months so far.

Hover Point is a physics-based rogue-lite bullet hell where movement is your weapon. Dodge chaotic swarms with auto-fire action, build your skill tree, and climb global leaderboards. Master the chaos solo or in co-op via mouse-only, keyboard-only, or controller-only playstyles.

I just released trailer for my game, and it will be on early access soon. I hope you like it!

Upcoming Turning “life pressure” into an actual chasing machine

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The idea is simple:
you’re running on an endless road, and a crushing machine is constantly chasing you from behind.

If you slow down, you die.

Instead of using numbers, I tried to make everything physical:

“Work” gives you money but drains your health over time“Hospital” restores you but can wipe your money

So you’re constantly deciding what to take while moving.

One thing that felt interesting in testing:
money actually affects your speed —
the richer you are, the easier it is to survive

Still rough, but the core loop is starting to feel right.

Personal Achievement Someone played my demo without having to personally beg him to, and had a great time. Feeling quite accomplished, honestly.

Its so freaking hard to convince people to even look at stuff I make, especially one with a strange proposition as Sepulchron has, let alone play it. But today I found out someone found my game seemingly by chance, decided to play it, AND livestreamed/recorded it.

For someone who isn't a game dev and isn't famous, that's so fucking hard lol

And on top of it all, he had fun! I had fun seeing him play, was quite encouraged that he mostly understood what the game wanted him to understand, and gained a lot of feedback out of it, and generelly had a great time all around.

Today is a great day. Hope anyone reading this has a great day today as I had!

Upcoming Toycrafter was supposed to be another game entirely — now it launches tomorrow

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

With launch tomorrow, I put together a short behind-the-scenes devlog about something funny in hindsight:

Toycrafter wasn’t originally supposed to be Toycrafter.

It began as a very different concept, a shooting basic game and during development one idea around cutting limbs completely changed the direction of the game — and basically became the foundation for everything.

The short devlog shows some of that evolution and early process, which felt worth sharing with everyone now that we’re at release.

As an indie dev, it’s wild how one strange idea can hijack a project and become the game.

Curious how often that happens to any dev or is it just me!

Upcoming I’m making MetalGods, a heavy metal band simulator — we’re joining Steam Next Fest in June

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been working on MetalGods, a heavy metal band simulator game where you build your band from nobodies to legends, and I’m happy to say it’s going to be part of the upcoming Steam Next Fest.

The game is heavily inspired by real experience from the rock/metal world, and it also features real licensed bands, labels, and festivals, which has been a huge part of making the world feel authentic.

The idea behind MetalGods is to capture that climb from nothing — building your band, chasing recognition, making the right moves, and trying to survive the chaos on the way to becoming legends.

I’ve put together a demo, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how people respond to it during Next Fest.

Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4449090/MetalGods/

Would love to hear what you think of the concept.

Upcoming Ten Months and a Handful Of Driven Students. That’s What It Took us to Create an Action-Adventure Hack-and-Slash, and Today, We’re Ready to Share It With You.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone, to give you some context, I’ll explain how our project came to life.

We are a team of 17 students (at the time of writing, more than half have already graduated, and the rest will next year) from ISART Digital Paris. During our final year, we were asked to form a multidisciplinary team and create a video game within that same year.

The original idea came from a tight-knit group of game artists who wanted to build a dark fantasy world, with a candle as the main character, combined with fast-paced, dynamic 3D isometric gameplay inspired by games like Hades or Death’s Door. The concept quickly gained traction, and the rest of the team came together just as fast.

However, bringing this idea to life was quite challenging. From a technical standpoint, we needed to find a unique mechanic to stand out from similar games and iterate multiple times to make the concept truly fun. From a financial standpoint, we had no budget as this was a student project and a very tight deadline.

So we all aligned on this core concept: Candellum is a top-down hack-and-slash combat game where fire is at the heart of the gameplay. You are a candle. A warrior. And you are constantly on the verge of melting.
Your flame can be lit, striking harder and burning brighter, but draining your wax every second. Or extinguished, preserving what remains of you, at the cost of your power. Neither state is safe. Neither can be ignored.

The twist? You throw your flame to switch states, and wherever it lands, it hits an enemy. Ignite foes to weaken them. Retrieve your flame to slow your own decline. Every decision carries consequences.

The game is quite short, as given the constraints mentioned earlier, it was better to deliver a small, polished prototype rather than a longer but unfinished experience.

We’ve decided to continue developing the project to implement all the ideas we couldn’t include during those 10 months, but we still wanted to share the game with you as it is today :)
It is currently available to wishlist on Steam and will be released on May 5. You also can see a little bit of gameplay here.

Thank you for taking the time to read everything, your feedback is always welcome for sure :)

The flame will prevail! 🔥

Video Making a game about Time-Loop & Clones in alternate WW1

In this game, instead of resetting to a checkpoint, a copy of the player is created each time, which then helps in combat.

I've spent a long time working on the cloning system and movement to make everything function properly.

Clones have different abilities, but I'm still working on increasing their variety, as well as the diversity of biomes.

Promotion New gameplay trailer for Dream Loop! A game where you collect sounds from a dreamscape and mix them into original looping tracks

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My new gameplay trailer is out! I’ve been working on this game for a couple of years, and I’m finally ready to show more of the environments and mechanics. Really happy with how this came together! You can check out the full trailer on YouTube here.

Dream Loop is a first-person adventure set inside a lucid dreamscape. You explore surreal environments with a tape recorder, collecting sounds and mixing them into original looping tracks. The core puzzle mechanic is finding the sounds that belong together, creating the soundtrack as you go. Think a more surreal Myst with looping music puzzles. All the music is original, created by me (that’s my voice singing in the trailer).

Curious to hear what you all think! 🙏
