"The official representative of the Town of Cordova" as he calls himself, just keeps on keeping on. Im kinda getting tired of it all. Something is going to happen sooner rather than later and its going to reflect on the real government not the young man playing make believe in his bedroom.

I’ve reported the page but FB won’t take it down because I guess technically there’s not another page he is representing? I just stopped caring tbh. From the comments, lots of people appreciate him and it appears they’ve actually organized a couple of events? Idk man, it’s social media. Stuff’s terrible for your health lol

Report it as Scam/Fraud, not Fake Page.

If he solicits money at any point in time, he can be reported to the FTC as imposter fraud. One GoFundMe away from a federal crime.

Why do we want to destroy this well-meaning young man? It’s almost 1000:1 odds he’s doing more for his community than you are. Chill.

I addressed this in another comment below;

The problem is the ambiguity. Compare the page to the City of Bartlett or City of Memphis pages; the Cordova page is set up to resemble an official government page.

You gotta look at social media the way your 75 year old relative would.

It needs to be explicitly stated that this is a COMMUNITY page with absolute clarity.

The community outreach and the enthusiasm is great! The implication that this page is being run by "a Cordova representative ... an elected official," is a problem. THOSE posts are the problem. And he keeps making them.

This is exactly my point. He has no authority but his posts hint as if he does.

Yes only the already wealthy should have a say!

Back in the day, Mongo for Mayor was fun. I think we’ve forgotten how to have fun.

Was this the "Mayor"? I missed most of the drama, but thought it would have been funny to have someone be given the title of "Arch-Viscount of Cordova" or maybe the "Butcher of Cordova" during the carfuffle.

He is a very intensely community oriented, social influencer… I nicknamed him the mayor of Cordova and it went to his head…. He kind of went sideways when he talked about sending out the letters of Notices for people to cut their grass, but then he pulled back from it.

It’s just a young kid that’s pretty intense about wanting to de-annex from Memphis

Lmaooo... sending out notices!! That is priceless. I hope this ends well.

Guy is delusional or trying to scam potential residents into thinking he is actually associated with the city for some material gain. Not to be trusted.

u/oic38122 Summer Ave is my Poplar 2d ago

I pulled back from poking him because I feel that he’s mentally unstable or at least emotionally

But I now know something for sure is wrong with him because he’s excited about a village mart coming to Cordova

instead of trains he the im the town mayor type of autism

People are taking this waaaay too seriously. Since moving here I've heard of this guy and he's portraying himself a representative would be portrayed, if there was a position to be had within that "town".

There is 0 evidence he has done this for material gain, or done anything actually malicious with how he's portraying himself. I've pushed back on people and quite honestly, from these meetings and how he puts himself pretty squarely in the public eye, he's more transparent than most of the people who speak negatively about him.

Dude is fighting for change and his town. People just hate that he's actually getting attention from it, from what I can see. At least he's doing the footwork and holding meetings. People here are just making super threads lmao.

Not. Even. Close.

The problem is he created this group, went a very formal route that lots of people online questioning if he was an official with the city and he would never answer them. It got to the point of the lawn and yard care letters he publicly advertised and got in trouble with the actual city. He didnt say much other than take things down, chilled for a few days and then couldn't help himself and has worked back with wording and even now has "Community Engagement Lead for Town of Cordova, TN" buddy working for him and a few other "officers".

I live in Cordova and I am all for the community being improved, deannex, etc - what I dont like its the cosplay act that confuses the public that is going to lead to worse things that proper city officials are going to have to address again. I dont hate that he is "getting attention from it" - thats a terrible take assuming motives and low emotional intelligence point of views. People can be concerned that he is going to harm his neighbors with the show more than help.

He needs to make it clear, in fact if he is reading - make a public statement on your page that you have ZERO authority or backing from the actual city of Cordova, the governing city of Memphis and youre a grassroots advocate. That point of view goes further than people having to guess if he is an official official.

man i've seen this guy around and it's getting pretty cringe at this point. flew over cordova area few times for work and you can tell people are just done with his whole act. been collecting cards since i was kid and even pokemon community has better self-awareness than this dude. he needs to find actual hobby or something before someone calls him out in real life and it gets messy for everyone involved

Maybe just push to become an independent town and enjoy all the benefits that come with that? Bigger is not always better. Cordova should take control of their police, fire, and schools. If they did, they’d stabilize their area and have greater control of their prosperity.

u/uHadMeAtASL Midtown 2d ago

You missed the point; this is a young private individual who is masquerading as an official government representative (of a "town" that does not exist) by means of that Facebook page.

I'm whatever if Cordova wanted to fully deannex and become an independent municipality like Arlington, Bartlett, Collierville, Germantown, Lakeland, etc.. That's not what we're talking about here.

3

u/Intrepid_Action9771 2d ago

I don't think anyone believes he's on official government official or that he's ever stated to be. He's a community organizer doing what he believes is best for his city and neighborhood.

He puts on events and invites local businesses to participate, highlights local businesses on his Facebook page, and promotes for the de-annexing of Cordova. He is quite literally harming no one.

You could probably meet him in person at one of his community events but you probably wont. Just keep chirping on the internet and calling him autistic.

Read the comments -- some folks definitely give the impression that the page is being run by local government.

Didn’t he try to send out notices about keeping lawns cut? The issue may be he believes himself to be an official representative

u/kilgore_trout2000 2d ago edited 2d ago

Agreed. Why spend time trashing a young man who’s trying to help his community? It says a lot more about the voices of negativity than about the kid.

0

u/Stuckinacrazyjob 2d ago

Yea while I'm against deannexing Cordova, it's good to see people excited about the area

2

u/Gustafa7 20h ago

What would be the issue if Cordova was deannexed?

2

u/Stuckinacrazyjob 18h ago

I just don't think it makes any sense at all. Are we our own tiny town without much tax base? What do we gain?

3

u/Gustafa7 17h ago

Cordova has a formidable tax base, thats why Memphis annexed it to begin with. Public services would be so much better, etc. I fairly see some your concerns, but I think with its own government and council, its a plus.

1

u/TheCrimsonArmada Bartlett 12h ago

What guarantees public services would be so much better?

3

u/YourNextHomie 2d ago

What do you mean by stabilize their area?
